  • The 15 Best Cate Blanchett Movies and Where to Watch Them

The 15 Best Cate Blanchett Movies and Where to Watch Them

Cate Blanchett is one of the most accomplished actresses ever with a wide filmography that spans three decades. If you want to watch some of the actress’ best movies, check out our guide below which details where to stream these titles using platforms like Netflix, Prime Video and more!

To date, Cate Blanchett has been awarded two Oscars and four Golden Globes, and has been nominated for a total of eight Oscars and 12 Golden Globes. But she’s much more than just an award show darling. Blanchett has starred in everything from biting satires like Don’t Look Up to heist films like Ocean’s Eight, and she even portrayed Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings franchise.

Below we’ve ranked the actress’ 15 best movies, spanning her entire filmography. The best Cate Blanchett film so far is 1998’s Elizabeth. The movie tells the true story of how 25-year-old Elizabeth Tudor became the English queen after being released from imprisonment (she was banished there by her own sister). Throughout her reign, Queen Elizabeth I faced political rivals, death threats, and an empire on the brink of ruin. But she managed to keep the empire together and even grow it stronger.

In the film, Blanchett portrayed the queen and was joined in the cast by other notable actors like Geoffrey Rush, Richard Attenborough, and Daniel Craig in one of his first major roles. Elizabeth was well-received by both critics and audiences and went on to be nominated for seven Oscars. Blanchett even won a Golden Globe for her role. In 2007, the film received an equally popular sequel with Elizabeth: The Golden Age, which earned Blanchett more Oscar and Golden Globe nominations.

Beyond Elizabeth, Blanchett has portrayed tons of other fascinating characters in films that also made the Top 15 list, including her Oscar-winning portrayal of Katherine Hepburn in The Aviator and her turn as an adulterous teacher in the salacious, tension-filled psychological thriller Notes on a Scandal.

Blanchett recently starred as Lilith in the movie adaptation of Borderlands alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Hart and Ariana Greenblatt.

  • Where to watch the 15 best Scarlett Johansson movies

Where to watch the 15 best Scarlett Johansson movies

Whether you love her for her early career as an indie starlet, or love her for portraying Black Widow in the MCU, there’s no denying that Scarlett Johansson has had a long and prosperous career in Hollywood. If you want to discover some of Scarlett Johansson's best movies, check out our guide below which details where to find them streaming on services like Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and more!

From the late '90s and into the 2000s, Scarlett Johansson was making a name for herself in numerous critically acclaimed indie films. From the angsty, coming-of-age Ghost World to the Oscar-winning dramedy Lost in Translation, Johansson was establishing herself as an actress who wasn’t afraid to take on lofty roles.

But Johansson’s career reached new heights in 2012 with the premiere of The Avengers. Filled with an all-star ensemble cast, the movie is seen as the true moment the Marvel Cinematic Universe took off, launching the largest franchise in Hollywood history.

And while Johansson has continued to star in numerous Avengers sequels, as well as her own standalone Black Widow film, the actress has largely returned to her dramatic roots in recent years. In fact, in 2020 alone Johansson was nominated for two Oscars: one for the bittersweet Marriage Story and the other for the Nazi-spoofing Jojo Rabbit.

Marriage Story takes the #1 spot on our ranking because, not only was it nominated for six Oscars, but it’s also incredibly deep, moving, and oftentimes painful. The movie follows the bitter divorce between a married couple and shows the ways it upends every aspect of their lives… turning two good-natured people into vengeful adversaries. Johansson was joined in the cast by Adam Driver, Laura Dern (who won an Oscar for her role), and Ray Liotta, among others.

Taking the #2 spot is her other Oscar nomination, Jojo Rabbit. The movie takes an absurdist look at what it must have been like to be a Nazi during the collapse of the regime at the end of World War II. While much of the movie is complete chaos and hilariously bombastic, Johansson brought a level of groundedness to the film, portraying a German mother secretly working against the Nazis.

Where to watch the best Scarlett Johansson movies online

Scarlett Johansson’s filmography has many more excellent movies to watch. From rom-coms like He’s Just Not That Into You to dystopic dramas about AI like Her, here are Scarlett Johansson’s 15 best movies and where to watch them in the United States.

  • The Best George Clooney Movies, Ranked (And Where to Watch Them)

The Best George Clooney Movies, Ranked (And Where to Watch Them)

George Clooney is one of the most decorated actors in Hollywood. Though he took a four-year hiatus from acting from 2016 - 2020, he returned to the film industry with a splash, dropping his biopic The Boys in the Boat and cameoing in The Flash in 2023, plus preparing to collaborate with Brad Pitt again in Wolfs. It will be exciting to see Pitt and Clooney back together after they previously starred in the Ocean’s film series. For viewers looking to familiarize themselves with Clooney’s work before seeing Wolfs, this guide will help you find his best works and where to watch them.

Clooney’s career began in the early 1980s after his cousin, actor Miguel Ferrer, got him a small role in a feature film and encouraged him to pursue a Hollywood career. By 1984, he landed his first starring role in the sitcom E/R. Ironically, his big break would come with the unrelated but similarly titled ER series, for which he received an Emmy nomination.

He further gained traction with his role in O Brother, Where Art Thou, and quickly followed it up with his iconic starring role as Danny Ocean in Ocean’s Eleven. His determined and passionate performance greatly aided in the film attaining the status of one of the greatest heist movies of all time. Clooney’s career took off after Ocean’s Eleven, and viewers would watch some of his greatest performances in the following years, including Syriana and Michael Clayton. He also started dabbling in filmmaking at this point, releasing his critically acclaimed film Good Night, and Good Luck in 2005.

Today, Clooney is among only four celebrities to receive at least one nomination in six different Oscar categories. The only others who have pulled off this feat are Walt Disney, Alfonso Cuarón, and Kenneth Branagh. Though his roles have grown a bit sparser in recent years due to his focus on filmmaking, he continues to star mostly in action thrillers, sci-fi films, and comedies.

With his latest films, including The Flash and Boys in the Boat, becoming available to stream and viewers preparing to watch Wolfs, it’s an excellent time to get into more of his movies. Hence, we have compiled a list of his ten best films ranked by how iconic and well-known his performance was and the films’ critical acclaim.

  • Every Shrek Movie in Order (And Where To Watch Them)

Every Shrek Movie in Order (And Where To Watch Them)

DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek series first kicked off in 2001 with Shrek, which took home the first-ever Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and spawned three more successful sequels. However, although the film series trailed off in 2010, it remains surprisingly relevant today. In fact, it has experienced multiple resurgences in recent years due to viral Shrek memes and audiences seeking it out for nostalgia. The highly anticipated fifth entry into the franchise, Shrek 5, is set to be released in theaters in 2026 - sixteen years since its last official installment.

If you’ve seen the memes and wondered what the big deal about Shrek was, this guide will help you discover how to delve into the series and where to watch all the Shrek movies and spinoffs online.

Shrek was a surprise hit when it first premiered. The project initially may have been met with skepticism, considering it was a far departure from the average fairy tale in that it starred a somewhat antagonistic ogre as the main character. Every aspect, from the fairy tale satire to the complex computer animation, hadn’t been done before. However, it was this innovation and freshness that compelled viewers to watch the film, making it a box office hit and earning it the label of one of the most influential animated films of the early 2000s.

Meanwhile, the iconic characters, especially Donkey (Eddie Murphy) and Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas), and the unique premise allowed DreamWorks to produce an almost equally successful sequel, Shrek 2. Although the next two installments received mixed reviews, each proved a box office success. By the fourth film, Shrek Forever After, it was evident the ogre’s story was winding down, but there were still so many other stories to tell amid the unique slate of fairy tale characters.

Hence, two spinoff films followed focusing on Puss in Boots. The last Puss in Boots film, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, premiered in 2022, which aided in bringing the franchise into contemporary pop culture again. It was the first film in the franchise to premiere after the rise of streaming, and it quickly made a stir after landing on both Peacock and Netflix for viewers to stream. With the release of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish in 2022, the confirmation of Shrek 5 for 2026 and meme culture, Shrek’s influence and streaming presence will persist.

Where to watch all Shrek movies online

The easiest way to approach the Shrek movies is in chronological order because it gives viewers more context and the ability to see the characters’ growth from film to film. However, if viewers prefer to go by release date order, they would simply watch the four Shrek films in order, followed by the Puss in Boots spinoff and its sequel.

Check out our guide below which details how and where to watch all the Shrek movies in the recommended chronological order.

In just over two decades, he has become one of the highest-grossing and highest-paid actors in the world. This guide will highlight ten of Johnson’s best movies and provide information on where you can stream them online using services like Netflix, Max, Prime Video and more.

Dwayne Johnson's acting career actually began within the WWE, where he became famous for his in-ring persona, which was quite the trash talker. By 2000, he had begun dabbling in Hollywood in addition to wrestling. He started appearing in minor TV roles in shows before starring in the adventure films The Mummy Returns and The Scorpion King.

It wasn’t long before he found his niche in action films. In addition to having the talent for such roles, his wrestling career and intimidating presence made him the perfect action star. The success of the Fast & Furious franchise is often partially attributed to his entrance as Luke Hobbs in Fast Five and subsequent installments. Viewers also enjoyed watching him in action flicks such as G.I. Joe Retaliation and Pain & Gain.

More recently, he has settled into several family roles. His relationship with Disney has grown with roles in Moana and Jungle Cruise. Streamers have also taken an interest in the actor, as he appeared in the Netflix original Red Notice, which has the potential to grow into a streaming series. Meanwhile, his modern comedy, action, and family films, including the Jumanji series, Jungle Cruise, and Black Adam, have significant streaming presences, with several even experiencing resurgences upon their streaming debuts.

  • The 10 Best John Cena Movies & TV Shows and Where to Stream Them

The 10 Best John Cena Movies & TV Shows and Where to Stream Them

John Cena has built a massive name for himself, both in wrestling and as an actor. If you’re a Cena fan and are looking to find out where to watch the best John Cena movies and TV shows, read on to find out what they are and where to stream them online using platforms like Netflix, Max, Prime Video, Disney+ and more!

John Cena began his career in pro wrestling, fighting in amateur matches starting in 1998 before moving his way up to the WWE in 2001. He quickly became one of the most famous pro wrestlers in the world, holding matches against everyone from The Rock to AJ Styles, Edge, and more.

After just a few short years, Cena had already begun transiting into acting, landing his first leading role in 2006 with The Marine. One of Cena’s strangest (and funniest) early roles was playing Dad Figglehorn, the imaginary father figure of Fred in the film and TV spin-off of the popular YouTube series.

Since then, John Cena has become one of the biggest actors in Hollywood, taking on a wide range of roles from comedies to action films, and even family-friendly animated movies like Ferdinand. He’s had cameos in huge movies like Barbie, starred in award-winning shows like Peacemaker, and even joined the Fast & Furious franchise for the two most recent films.

But Cena’s best role to date is his portrayal of the Peacemaker in 2021’s The Suicide Squad. Filled with blood, action, and a good dose of cynical humor, The Suicide Squad wasn’t just some mundane sequel to the 2016 film, it was a standalone movie with its own vision, story, and vibe…one that many critics praised, claiming it was far superior to the original movie.

The critical praise for The Suicide Squad even led John Cena to land his own Peacemaker spin-off show on Max. The series has been equally popular and even earned Cena a Critic’s Choice Award nomination. It’s been announced that a second season is on the way, though it might be a few years before audiences will get to watch it since DC head James Gunn is committed to finishing his upcoming Superman movie before he begins production on the new series. But Cena fans don’t need to wait until then to watch more movies and shows starring the wrestling legend!

Where to watch the best John Cena movies online

With great movies like Trainwreck and Vacation Friends streaming right now, there’s lots to watch in the meantime. Here are the 10 best John Cena movies and TV shows and where to watch them online in the United States!

  • Every John Wick Movie and TV Show In Order (And Where To Watch Them)

Every John Wick Movie and TV Show In Order (And Where To Watch Them)

It has been over a decade since Keanu Reeves first donned that sleek double-vented suit for his titular role in the first John Wick movie. Since then, the movie has spawned a sprawling franchise consisting of four films and a TV series. Additionally, the franchise shows no signs of slowing down, as 2025 will see the release of the spinoff film Ballerina and the continued development of two more shows and movies. Use this guide to let you know how to watch the John Wick franchise in order and where to stream them all online!

As mentioned above, the John Wick series kicked off in 2014, proving to be a surprise success that put Reeves firmly back in the Hollywood spotlight. The action was intense, the lead character sympathy-inducing, and Wick had the potential to become as iconic as other gentleman spies or hitmen like James Bond. As a result, three more sequels followed (John Wick: Chapter 2, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4) that turned John Wick from a low-budget action movie with a typical revenge plot into a full-fledged universe with a complex network of criminal organizations. In addition to each John Wick film being a commercial success, the movies are frequently in high demand to stream.

The franchise released its first spinoff TV show, The Continental: From the World of John Wick, in 2023. This show further solidified the franchise’s streaming presence, as it was an exclusive streaming release. Now that viewers can watch the first John Wick TV show, it’s only a matter of time before more follow. Currently, a live-action and anime TV series are in development. Viewers will also catch some of the intense action on the big screen with Ballerina and John Wick: Chapter 5 fast approaching.

The best way to watch the John Wick shows and movies is in order of release date. If viewers prefer chronological order, the only difference is that they’d start with The Continental instead of ending with it.

  • The 10 Best Joaquin Phoenix Films, Ranked (And Where To Watch Them)

The 10 Best Joaquin Phoenix Films, Ranked (And Where To Watch Them)

Joaquin Phoenix is set to lead one of the most anticipated films of 2024, Joker: Folie à Deux. He will reprise his role as Arthur Fleck for the Joker sequel and be joined by Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. In 2019, Joker was a surprise hit that put an entirely new and unique spin on the iconic Batman villain, earning Phoenix his first Academy Award win for Best Actor. While viewers have yet to see what the sequel has in store for them, it is almost a given that Phoenix will thrive once more in the complex role of the nihilistic criminal.

After all, this knack for complex and unconventional roles first garnered the actor international recognition. Phoenix has been acting nearly his entire life, starting his career as a child actor to help support his family. He started gaining recognition for his acting talent early on, especially after portraying the sullen and withdrawn teen Garry in Parenthood. Once he reached adulthood, he had no problem transitioning into more mature starring roles in films like To Die For.

His propensity for darker and unconventional roles quickly became apparent as he portrayed several troubled young men involved in murder plots or befriending serial killers. By 2000, he garnered critical acclaim for his role as Commodus in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator. Phoenix earned his first Academy Award nomination for the role, in which he managed to bring to life a truly chillingly amoral and tyrannical villain. His career only picked up from there, as he showed that unconventionality wasn’t the only thing he could do.

He has continued taking on larger-than-life roles, such as Napoleon Bonaparte in Napoleon, as well as emotionally complex and eccentric ones in films like C’mon, C’mon and Beau is Afraid. Whether it’s a villain with a commanding presence or a quiet, nihilistic, or emotionally disturbed man, Phoenix knows how to give an engaging, compelling, and sometimes even frightening performance.

Choosing from Phoenix’s best performance was no easy task. However, we did so by weighing how well-known the role was, as well as how well-received it was, rather than just the quality of the movie. Hence, even though Joker received somewhat mixed reviews from critics, it still tops the chart because of how iconic Phoenix’s role in it was.

Here are Phoenix’s ten best movies ranked by the quality and iconic nature of his performance and the movie.

  • The 10 Best Chris Pratt Movies Ranked and Where to Stream Them Online

The 10 Best Chris Pratt Movies Ranked and Where to Stream Them Online

Chris Pratt is one of Hollywood’s biggest action stars, but his career actually started in 2002 when he landed his first starring role in the primetime drama Everwood. After that, Pratt landed a leading role in another series, the massive comedy hit Parks and Recreation, turning him into a household name. Discover more about Chris Pratt's career and find out where to stream his best movies using platforms like Max, Netflix, Prime Video and more below.

In the 2010s, Chris Pratt transitioned out of television and into movies and ended up starring in some of the biggest franchises of the decade like Guardians of the Galaxy, The Lego Movie, and Jurassic World. While all three of those movies are on the Top 10 List for Pratt’s best films, there are also a lot of others from various genres.

The #7 spot goes to Strangers with Candy, an obscure indie comedy Chris Pratt starred in back in 2006. Based on Stephen Colbert’s comedy series of the same name, the movie followed a 46-year-old ex-junkie (Amy Sedaris) who returns to high school to restart her life. The movie is weird, wild, and filled with hilarious dark humor. The #3 spot goes to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which brought the classic Nintendo characters to life and became one of the most popular movies of 2023.

But Chris Pratt’s best movie remains 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which takes the #1 spot on the list. Not only was it Pratt’s first starring role as an action hero (and superhero), but it also turned him into a bonafide Hollywood star. Plus, the movie was incredibly inventive and exciting thanks to its classic rock soundtrack, ample amounts of humor, and outer space action, all of which helped Guardians of the Galaxy put a unique twist on the superhero genre. Pratt was also joined by an absolutely fantastic cast that included Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, and Lee Pace, among many others.

  • Here Are The Most Highly Anticipated New Films Coming in 2024 (And Where To Watch Them)

Here Are The Most Highly Anticipated New Films Coming in 2024 (And Where To Watch Them)

There are many things to look forward to in the new year, but for movie enthusiasts, one of the most alluring aspects of the new year is that a whole fresh slate of movies awaits. 2024 has quite a variety of films coming in the new year, including several that were delayed from 2023 due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.

For example, viewers were supposed to get Dune: Part Two in November 2023, but it was pushed to this year, making viewers all the more anxious to see the sequel to Denis Villeneuve's epic sci-fi film. The strikes also resulted in some 2024 releases being pushed into next year and beyond. Hence, the year will be a little light on superhero films, with the MCU releasing just one film and the DCU releasing none.

Fortunately, Deadpool 3 and Joker: Folie à Deux are still on the 2024 slate and are expected to have significant box office power. It is every Marvel comic book fan’s dream to see a Wolverine and Deadpool crossover on the big screen, and the cherry on top is that both characters are entering the MCU for the first time in the film. Meanwhile, Joaquin Phoenix will likely dazzle again in the sequel to the surprise 2019 hit Joker.

The Mad Max film series is also giving viewers another installment in 2024, and it will see one of Hollywood’s fastest-rising stars, Anya Taylor-Joy, in the lead role. A few other significant franchises are expanding in 2024, with such films as Kung Fu Panda 4, A Quiet Place: Day One, and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

While films from established series and franchises tend to draw the most hype, a few original blockbusters also hold potential, such as IF, starring Ryan Reynolds and John Krasinski, and the sure-to-be tear-jerking inspirational Mark Wahlberg movie Arthur the King. Between the sequels and prequels from big franchises and the creative approaches of original films, 2024 is shaping up to be a big year for the cinema.

Here are the most highly anticipated releases in order of release date.

Adam Driver received his first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in BlacKkKlansman in 2019. He stepped it up a notch the following year, earning a Best Actor nomination for Marriage Story, where he starred opposite Scarlett Johansson. Whether playing one half of a couple whose marriage is slowly falling apart or a detective infiltrating a Ku Klux Klan chapter, Driver demands attention with his commanding presence, versatility, and authenticity.

Adam Driver first gained worldwide recognition for his role as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. He offered a memorable performance as the trilogy’s primary antagonist, and many fans of the franchise still know him best for this role. In Star Wars’ cinematic universe, his character is one of the most potent Force users, on par with the likes of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Yoda.

What’s interesting about Adam Driver is that he wasn’t on the Hollywood scene very long before he garnered worldwide attention for starring in a franchise as massive as Star Wars. He made his film debut just four years before Star Wars in J. Edgar. Even in his first movie, he acted alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Naomi Watts and held his own. His career never slowed down from there as he gained critical acclaim for his role in Hungry Hearts and delighted audiences in the comedy This Is Where I Leave You.

  • The Best Meryl Streep Movies, Ranked

The Best Meryl Streep Movies, Ranked

Meryl Streep has been called the most accomplished actress in cinematic history. At the time of writing, she holds numerous Guinness World Records including Most Oscar Nominations in History (she has 21) and Most Golden Globe Nominations in History (she has 33). She’s won 3 Oscars and 9 Golden Globes - which has her tied for the most Golden Globe-winning actor in history alongside Tom Hanks and Barbra Streisand. Read on to learn more about her celebrated filmography and find out where to stream her best movies online using platforms like Max, Netflix, Prime Video and more!

Meryl Streep is an acting powerhouse who has starred in countless films that are both critically lauded and box office hits. That makes ranking her “best” movies a bit hard since she rarely ever stars in a dud. But even among her lofty and lengthy filmography, there are some movies that stand out more than others.

From campy comedies like Mamma Mia! (which placed #10) to critically acclaimed dramas like Doubt (which came in at #4), Meryl Streep has proven herself to be an expert at portraying a wide range of characters. But no movie proves that quite like the #1 movie on the list... The Devil Wears Prada.

Based on the novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger (and allegedly about Vogue’s Anna Wintour), The Devil Wears Prada saw Streep portray the successful magazine editor Miranda Priestly. Cold and demanding on the outside, but broken and hardened on the inside, Streep created a complex character that is both absolutely iconic and completely tragic at the same time. She rightly was nominated for an Oscar for the role and won a Golden Globe.

And Meryl Streep wasn’t the only one delivering stand-out performances in the film. Joining her were Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt in her first major role – and they all delivered stand-out performances, making every single scene in The Devil Wears Prada flawless.

  • The 10 Best Margot Robbie Movies and Where to Stream Them

The 10 Best Margot Robbie Movies and Where to Stream Them

Margot Robbie is one of the biggest names in Hollywood right now, with a long roster of hit films. It’s hard to believe that she only broke out into stardom a decade ago with the smash hit The Wolf of Wall Street. This guide will rank ten of the best Margot Robbie movies along with provide information on where to stream every title using such streaming services like Netflix, Max, Prime Video, Disney+ and more!

Before teaming up with legendary director Martin Scorsese, Margot Robbie had started building her career in television, starring in the long-running Australian soap opera Neighbours from 2008-2011 and later the short-lived series Pan Am. After transitioning to film, Robbie quickly racked up numerous award nominations (and wins), starred in one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, and has become one of the most sought-after actresses in the business.

Margot Robbie has received two Oscar nominations for her roles in Bombshell and I, Tonya, and six Golden Globe nominations, thanks to her roles in those films and other hits like Babylon and Barbie. Though her talent and recognition have been rising for years, Robbie certainly found a whole new level of fame in 2023 after the premiere of Barbie.

Bright, colorful, funny, inventive, and complete with a hefty dose of societal critiques, Barbie wasn’t just insanely entertaining, it was incredibly smart. It’s no wonder why the movie ranked #1 on the list. Its successes led to seven Academy Award nominations at the 96th Oscar ceremony including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Gosling and Best Best Supporting Actress for America Ferrera. It ultimately won Best Original Song for Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell's ballad "What Was I Made For?".

Also placing high on the list are her Oscar-nominated movies, I, Tonya and Bombshell. Both films depict true stories, and with I, Tonya especially, Robbie’s performance completely carried the entire movie. Plus, both films are powerful and gripping, giving viewers an in-depth look into two massive scandals – with Bombshell revealing the Fox News sexual assault scandal and I, Tonya telling the story of Nancy Kerrigan’s assault in 1994.

Margot Robbie’s career is still just heating up, as it was reported that she will be reteaming with her Barbie co-star Ryan Gosling for an Oceans 11 prequel.

  • DC Movies in Order: A Streaming Guide to All 15 DCEU Movies

DC Movies in Order: A Streaming Guide to All 15 DCEU Movies

The DCEU gave us Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and live action movie adaptations of many iconic DC storylines for the first time. In this guide, you can find where to watch DC movies in order online on streaming services in the United States. This includes the latest ways to watch all the DC movies on Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV+. You can also use JustWatch's guide to find out where to watch each DC movies in order for free.

How many movies are in the DCEU?

The shared DC universe, better known as the DCEU (DC Extended Universe), started shortly after the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in 2013 with the release of Man of Steel. It includes 15 movies (and 1 TV show) in total and the saga has now officially ended, but Zack Snyder’s work on the DCEU has led fans to call for the restoration of the SnyderVerse to this day. These are the same fans who also launched a successful campaign for Warner Bros. to release Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

How to watch DC movies in chronological order

When watching all the DCEU films, you can either watch them in chronological or release order. This is because Wonder Woman's standalone movies take place decades before she unites with the likes of Batman and Superman. If you want to watch them chronologically, here's how:

    • Wonder Woman
    • Wonder Woman 1984
    • Man of Steel
    • The Flash
    • Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
    • Suicide Squad
    • Justice League / Zack Snyder’s Justice League
    • Aquaman
    • Shazam!
    • Birds of Prey
    • The Suicide Squad
    • Peacemaker
    • Black Adam
    • Shazam: Fury of the Gods
    • Blue Beetle
    • Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

How to watch DC movies in release order

However, some fans still prefer to watch DC movies in release order. This is because connectivity was one of the significant struggles of the DC shared universe. While the early films like Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League are closely related, the connections trailed off towards the end of the DCEU. Later films like Shazam!, Aquaman, and Birds of Prey function largely as standalone films even if they technically exist within the same shared universe. Below is a complete list of the DCEU movies in release order and where to watch them online.

  • All 12 Zack Snyder Movies, Including Rebel Moon, Ranked

All 12 Zack Snyder Movies, Including Rebel Moon, Ranked

With the release of Rebel Moon and its sequel, Zack Snyder has directed 12 movies. The filmmaker is a bit of an auteur and has a way of creating highly-polarizing movies that are both celebrated by some and admonished by others. But one thing that can’t be denied is that his movies are always unique, with a certain flair and je ne sais quoi that is distinctly his own. Read on to discover every movie he has directed along with information on where you can watch them using popular streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, Max and more!

These days, Snyder is best known for making superhero films like Justice League, but the director-writer-producer’s filmography is much more diverse – something he’s proved again with his galactic epic, Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire. The fantasy space opera chronicles a galaxy on the brink of war after a tyrant seeks to take control. Part Two: The Scargiver released a few months after the first entry in April 2024.

Taking the top spot on the list is Snyder’s directorial debut, 2004’s Dawn of the Dead. A remake of George A. Romero’s 1978 classic with a script by James Gunn, the movie was a scary new take on the zombie subgenre. It chose to focus on the human characters and the emotional and psychological impacts of a zombie apocalypse – a tactic that would be repeated by The Walking Dead a few years later. Receiving strong praise from critics and grossing over $100 million at the box office, the movie was a massive hit and launched Snyder’s career as a director.

Sucker Punch also ranked higher than many might think. Once considered Snyder’s worst film, Sucker Punch has become more relevant and powerful in the post-#MeToo era, revealing the ways women are constantly sexualized and subjected to inappropriate behavior. That, combined with its epic soundtrack and wild settings, has made the movie much more popular in retrospectives and therefore places it higher on the list than it would have been a decade ago.

Where to watch all Zack Snyder movies online

Zack Snyder's unique creative vision continues to entertain fans regardless of critic opinion. Check out our guide which lists every film he's directed and find out how you can stream them online in the United States right now!

  • The Seven Best Yorgos Lanthimos Movies, Ranked, and Where to Watch Them

The Seven Best Yorgos Lanthimos Movies, Ranked, and Where to Watch Them

Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things was nominated for a whopping eleven Academy Awards at the 96th ceremony in 2024 including Best Director for Lanthimos. It went on to earn frequent collaborator Emma Stone her second Academy Award win for Best Actress, with critics hailing it as one of the best films of that year. Read on to discover a ranking of Yorgos Lanthimos' best movies and information provided on where to stream them all in the United States!

Poor Things fits into the Greek Weird Wave, a new style of filmmaking that has been primarily led by Lanthimos. The Greek Weird Wave is the term used to describe a branch of filmmaking that arose in Greece after the country experienced a financial crisis beginning in 2008. As a result, these films’ aesthetics and themes tend to reflect the crisis of the time. They are often satirical, morbid, and absurd, reflecting the disillusionment, discontentment, and alienation that arises when a country unexpectedly deviates into unknown territory.

Lanthimos was one of the earliest filmmakers to encompass this style with his 2009 film Dogtooth. This film also brought the style to the international stage as it nabbed a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars. Its absurdist premise follows one family’s extreme take on homeschooling, which captures two children’s alienation from society and probes what happens when one unquestioningly accepts authority.

Following the success of Dogtooth, Lanthimos would continue fascinating viewers with more absurd and thought-provoking Greek Weird Wave films. The Lobster and The Favourite also received nominations at the Academy Awards and BAFTA Awards, boasting absurdist dialogue, alienated protagonists, and unexpected premises. This fascination with the absurd continued with 2024's Kinds of Kindness starring Emma Stone in her third theatrical collaboration with the director, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe and Joe Alwyn.

Where can I watch the best Yorgos Lanthimos movies online?

Yorgos Lanthimos’ films break the mold of typical filmmaking and introduce a wholly new aesthetic to Hollywood. Here are his seven best films ranked by their critical reception and how well they capture his signature filmmaking style. All of Animator and Filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki’s Movies in Order (And Where To Watch Them)

Hayao Miyazaki’s final title in his filmography, The Boy and the Heron, released in 2024 and won the prestigious Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Upon its initial release in Japan and subsequent global rollout, the film received overwhelmingly positive reviews upon both debuts and earned over $160 million at the worldwide box office. Read on to learn more about Hayao Miyazaki’s revered filmography and find out where to watch all of his movies streaming on such popular services like Max, Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and more!

Hayao Miyazaki is considered one of the most remarkable storytellers and animators of our time. He is often compared to Walt Disney due to his comparable contributions to animation. Miyazaki has been a force in the industry since the advent of color-animated feature filmmaking in Japan. He rose from humble beginnings as an animator to co-founding his own studio, Studio Ghibli, and gaining international recognition.

Miyazaki’s storytelling and animation techniques are largely unparalleled. Despite technological advancements, he has sworn off CGI and relies on hand-drawn animation. It’s a painstaking process that gives Miyazaki’s works an animation style and aesthetic that is wholly unique. His 2001 film, Spirited Away, was and is still the only hand-drawn animated film to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

Miyazaki’s animated films are also appealing because they reiterate that animation is not just for children. Many of his works, especially My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Ponyo are perfectly suitable and enjoyable for children. However, they are so creative, imaginative, and filled with underlying themes and motifs that adults can also enjoy them. His recurring themes of environmentalism, love, loss, and self-discovery ensure audiences always have mature themes to analyze.

In addition to recurring themes and motifs, there are some recurring characters in Hayao Miyazaki’s work, too. This is why it is best to watch Miyazaki’s films in release order to capture the significance of recurring elements, as well as watch the evolution in his filmmaking.

  • The 15 Best Emma Stone Movies, Ranked, and Where to Stream Them

The 15 Best Emma Stone Movies, Ranked, and Where to Stream Them

Emma Stone picked up her second Academy Award for her performance as Bella Baxter in Yorgos LanthimosPoor Things – making her only one of thirteen women to have won the award twice (others include Hollywood icons such as Vivien Leigh, Ingrid Bergman and Bette Davis). There's no doubt she is now considered among the best actresses of her generation. In this guide, we'll show you where to watch the best Emma Stone movies on streaming services in the United States.

What are Emma Stone's best movies?

Stone has incredible range as an actress, moving seamlessly between vastly different projects. While she has garnered attention for comedic and satirical roles, one of her most excellent performances was in a musical romance. She took home the Oscar for Best Actress for portraying the ambitious and dreamy Mia Dolan in La La Land, a role in which she wowed audiences with her singing and dancing skills. Two years before that, she nabbed another Oscar nomination for playing a disgruntled, rugged, and cynical recovering addict in Birdman.

Meanwhile, her roles don’t have to be award-winning or from the most prestigious movies to gain attention. Many superhero fans remember her for portraying Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man series, and she impressed zombie enthusiasts with her role as a sarcastic and tough apocalypse survivor in Zombieland.

Poor Things is one of Emma Stone's best movies, having won The Golden Lion at the 80th Venice International Film Festival and receiving critical and commercial success worldwide. But Poor Things is not the only remarkable performance from Emma Stone in a Lanthimos-directed movie. She blew audiences away with The Favourite, proving she has a knack for dark comedy and bold, complex performances.

No matter what role Stone is playing, she always tackles it with vigor and pours in the kind of spunk, charisma, and boldness that audiences take note of. Hence, it is a little tricky to pick out her best roles from so many solid performances. However, a few stand out in particular for being easily recognizable or critically acclaimed.

Where can I watch Emma Stone movies online?

Where To Watch Every TV show Nominated for a Golden Globe 2024

The 2024 Golden Globe nominations have arrived and this year we have 29 series nominated for the major TV categories - which includes both network and broadcast television, as well as streaming. But this year, streaming and premium cable networks have completely dominated.

In fact, there’s only one network television show nominated for a Golden Globe this year - ABC’s Abbott Elementary, which earned a nomination for Best Series, and creator/star Quinta Brunson also got a nomination for Best Actress in a TV Series.

The real winner this year is HBO, who scored a boatload of nominations thanks to its juggernaut hit shows The Last of Us and Succession. Both shows were nominated for Best Series and Succession earned a whopping 8 acting nominations, with its entire main cast getting nominated for their roles. The Last of Us also did well, with both Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey being nominated for their roles in the apocalyptic drama.

One of the biggest surprises of the year was a strong turnout for the premium cable network Showtime. In the last few years, the network has struggled to produce noteworthy shows and miniseries - something the Emmys even poked fun at last year. But 2023 was a great year for the network thanks to the return of Yellowjackets (which has earned Christina Ricci a Best Supporting Actress nomination), and the premiere of the critically acclaimed series The Curse, which has earned its star Emma Stone a Best Actress nomination. Showtime’s Lavender Scare miniseries Fellow Travelers also earned a few nominations, both for its star Matt Bomer and one for Best Limited Series.

Other shows that have scored multiple nominations include perennial favorite The Crown, as well as Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building and the Yellowstone spin-off 1923. Check out the list below to find out where you can watch every show nominated for a Golden Globe before the ceremony airs on January 7, 2024.

  • Where to Watch Every Movie Nominated for a Golden Globe 2024

Where to Watch Every Movie Nominated for a Golden Globe 2024

The 2024 Golden Globe nominations have arrived and it seems clear that “Barbenheimer” didn’t just dominate the summer box office, but Barbie and Oppenheimer are also going to rule the Globes. Both films have been nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay, and their leads have all received acting nominations. Cillian Murphy has earned a nomination for Best Performance by an Actor and Margot Robbie is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress. Ryan Gosling also received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor thanks to his role as Ken.

Joining Barbie and Oppenheimer as a top contender is Killers of the Flower Moon. It’s also received a nomination in every top category like Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay, and the film’s stars - Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert DeNiro, and Lily Gladstone - all received nominations for their performances. Other movies that received multiple nominations include the biopics Nyad and Maestro, and the dark comedy Poor Things – Emma Stone actually has two Best Actress nominations at the Globes this year, being nominated for both her film Poor Things and her Showtime series The Curse.

There were also a few surprise nominations this year, with Disney’s Wish earning a Best Animated Motion Picture nomination despite its lukewarm box office earnings, and Timothee Chalamet landing a Best Actor nom for Wonka.

In total, there were 28 movies nominated in the major categories this year, spanning everything from blockbuster hits to indie films, and quite a few movies that are streaming on Netflix. As always, there’s been a heavy emphasis on biopics this year (they always seem to be a favorite amongst award shows). On top of those already mentioned, other biopics that earned nominations include Air, about Michael Jordan, and Priscilla, about Priscilla Presley and her relationship with Elvis.

The Golden Globe Awards airs on January 7, 2024, and here’s where to watch every nominated film before then.

  • All 38 Godzilla Movies in Order (And Where To Watch Them)

All 38 Godzilla Movies in Order (And Where To Watch Them)

Godzilla has been a towering presence in film for generations. Continue reading on to learn more about the popular character and find out where to stream every Godzilla movie using services like Max, Netflix, Prime Video and more!

The release of Godzilla Minus One in 2023 signified a return to the kaiju’s roots in more ways than one. It marked the first film since 2018 from Godzilla’s original creator, Toho Studios. The Japanese studio has taken a bit of a backseat the past few years to allow Warner Bros. and Legendary to create the shared cinematic universe, the MonsterVerse, centered on Godzilla, King Kong, and other kaiju.

Godzilla Minus One wasn't just a return to Toho but to the setting of the very first Godzilla movie in 1954. Like the original, the film follows Godzilla descending upon a postwar Japan. While it’s not technically a remake or reboot, it does feel a lot like a modern reimagining of the original film that delves deeper into the state of postwar Japan.

Meanwhile, the response to Godzilla Minus One was overwhelmingly positive. The film’s success and the nostalgia it packs into its familiar premise are bound to raise interest in Godzilla’s history. Fortunately, viewers looking for more Godzilla content shouldn’t have any problem finding some. As mentioned above, Toho has been making Godzilla movies since 1954.

American audiences will most likely be familiar with the MonsterVerse, which started with Godzilla (2014). So far, the MonsterVerse encompasses three Godzilla films, with a fourth arriving next year. These films are all interconnected and set in the same universe. However, Toho’s Godzilla franchise isn’t as simple as the MonsterVerse, as it has dozens of more films, and not all of them are connected.

Toho’s Godzilla franchise can be broken down into five eras: the Shōwa era (1954 - 1975), the Heisei era (1984–1995), the Millennium era (1999–2004), and the Reiwa era (2016–present). Some films within these eras will be interconnected, but most are standalone. When they are connected, they are usually released in chronological order within the era. The lack of continuity means watching in order of release date is the most straightforward viewing order. For example, Godzilla Minus One is chronologically the first film in the Reiwa era, but because it is a standalone movie, it doesn’t change much if one watches it last in the era based on its release date.

An alternative viewing order is if viewers want to watch the MonsterVerse films separately. In this case, viewers would watch Godzilla (2014), Godzilla King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire separately from the rest of the films on the release date-ordered list below.

  • Top 10 TV shows of 2023 (JustWatch popularity score)

Top 10 TV shows of 2023 (JustWatch popularity score)

2023 was an absolutely phenomenal year for television. While many people complain about the rising price of streaming services and the overwhelming number of choices they now have, the reality is that the streaming era has given birth to some fantastic TV shows. From quirky, niche hits like Peacock’s Twisted Metal to Disney+’s Star Wars series Ahsoka, and returning favorites like Only Murders in the Building, 2023 has undeniably been a fantastic year for fans of television, and streaming in particular. Six of the top 10 shows watched this year are streaming-exclusives that never aired on cable or network TV.

In fact, not a single series on the list aired on network television, and only one show on the list aired on cable - Paramount’s hit western Yellowstone, which ranked at #2. Instead, 2023 saw the dominance of premium cable networks and streaming services. HBO scored with hits like The Last of Us and Succession, taking the #1 and #6 spots, and streaming giant Netflix continued to influence pop culture thanks to hit shows like Wednesday, which scored the #5 spot.

Every major streaming service aside from Peacock has at least one show on the list. Apple TV+ even scored the #3 spot thanks to its breakout phenomenon Ted Lasso, which sadly had its series finale this year. Want to know who else made the Top 10? Read on to discover the most popular TV shows of 2023.

    Methodology:

We ranked our top 10 TV shows based on how many user interactions each series had. Anytime a user clicked on a streaming option, added a show to their watchlist, or marked a show as watched, it counts as an interaction. From there we crunched the numbers to find out which 10 series had been interacted with the most between January and December 2023.

  • 10 Most Popular Movies Of 2023, According To JustWatch

10 Most Popular Movies Of 2023, According To JustWatch

2023 is coming to an end, and what a wild year it’s been for cinema. From the record-breaking “Barbenhiemer” duel release that dominated the summer box office to Oscar-favorites like Everything Everywhere All At Once continuing to prove that A24 is becoming one of the most powerful studios, it’s been a hell of a year for Hollywood.

But what have been the most popular streaming movies in 2023? The list might surprise you. Neither Barbie nor Oppenheimer cracked the Top 10, likely because neither became available to watch digitally until the end of the year. Another surprise was Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, which despite seeing controversy and a lackluster box office debut, ended up ranking #4 on the list, proving that, while Disney might be struggling in theaters, its streaming service Disney+ remains incredibly popular.

And Disney wasn’t the only studio grappling with films that didn’t quite reach their box office potential this year. Movies from other studios like The Flash, Mission Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods all struggled to make a profit. But whereas cinema might have stagnated this year, the streaming wars have given audiences ample amounts of excellent content to stream or rent from home.

As a whole, the Top 10 list is actually pretty diverse, being comprised of animated favorites, action hits, and even a horror entry, with 2022’s The Menu coming in at #5. Here are the top 10 movies of 2023, according to JustWatch users.

    Methodology:

We ranked our top 10 movies based on how many user interactions each film had. Anytime a user clicked on a streaming option, added a film to their watchlist, or marked it as seen, it counted as an interaction. From there, we crunched the numbers to find out which 10 films had been interacted with the most between January-December 2023.

  • Every The Grinch Movie In Order and Where To Watch Them

Every The Grinch Movie In Order and Where To Watch Them

For over six decades, Dr. Seuss' timeless tale How The Grinch Stole Christmas! has captivated generations. Read on to learn about the beloved series and find out where to stream all the Grinch movies online using services like Disney+, Max, Netflix and more!

Originally published as a child's storybook in 1957 by the celebrated author, How The Grinch Stole Christmas! follows the story of the Grinch, a mean (yet beloved) “Who-hating” creature with a heart defect and inability in purchasing size-appropriate footwear. He aims to disrupt the festive plans of the cheerful residents of Whoville on Christmas Eve by stealing their Christmas gifts and decorations, leaving them with a ruined holiday.

The first adaptation of How The Grinch Stole Christmas! released in the form of the iconic 25-minute 1966 animated version, a perpetual favorite during the holiday season. Fast forward 34 years to the year 2000 with Jim Carrey taking on the role of the titular lead in the first live-action interpretation. This Ron Howard-directed version expanded upon Seuss' original tale while utilizing Carrey’s trademark wackiness to craft a memorable performance of the revered character.

Following an almost twenty-year hiatus between adaptations, the studio behind Despicable Me and Minions, Illumination, released 2018’s The Grinch featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as the voice behind the cherished lead.

2022’s The Mean One marks the latest film to feature a furry, green-skinned creature who hates Christmas, however it serves more as a parody of the Grinch rather than a direct adaptation. Starring the actor behind Terrifier’s Art the Clown, The Mean One reimagines the Grinch as a slasher horror, adding a thrilling twist to the beloved story which is definitely worth a watch.

What makes How The Grinch Stole Christmas! special is that everyone has their own preferred adaptation of the story. Whether you're drawn to the classic ‘60s animated version or the 2018 rendition, or prefer the captivating live-action adaptations, the Grinch remains a top pick for settling in for a Who-tastic movie night.

  • Every Beyoncé Movie Ranked and Where to Stream Them

Every Beyoncé Movie Ranked and Where to Stream Them

Beyoncé is inarguably one of the most famous and talented singers in the world. With a mountain of Grammy wins, concert tours that gross half a billion dollars, and memorable music videos like “Single Ladies”, Beyoncé is an absolute tour de force in the music world. But beyond her musical accolades, the singer has also starred in nine films throughout her career. From comedies like Austin Powers in Goldmember to thrillers like Obsessed and even animated family films like Epic, Beyoncé proves that her acting talents are just as powerful and diverse as her music career.

In 2006, Beyoncé even earned herself a Golden Globe nomination for her iconic role in the musical Dreamgirls. The movie later went on to win the Globe for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy as well. Check out our streaming guide which ranks all of the movies starring Beyoncé and where to find them streaming on popular platforms like Max, Disney+, Netflix, Prime Video and more!

How Did We Rank This List?

The movies featured on this list are all nine of Beyoncé's acting credits, so it doesn’t include the numerous documentaries, concert films, and extended music videos she’s appeared in. It’s ranked by how strong Beyoncé's performance was in each film combined with how enjoyable that movie is to watch.

Dreamgirls ranked #1 on the list because Beyoncé combined both her acting and musical talents, singing hit songs from the Broadway show and proving that she could ace dramatic and complex roles. Also ranking high on the list is Austin Powers in Goldmember. While the movie might not show off Beyoncé's talents the way Dreamgirls did, it’s an incredibly fun and funny movie, and Beyoncé's kick-ass portrayal of Foxxy Cleopatra made a great co-lead to the International Man of Mystery.

This list is ranked based on a combination of the strength of Beyoncé's roles and how enjoyable the movies are to watch. The good news is that Beyoncé has never been in a bad movie, so you can’t go wrong with any entry on the list.

  • How To Watch All the Home Alone Movies in Order and Where to Stream Them Online

How To Watch All the Home Alone Movies in Order and Where to Stream Them Online

Over three decades after its release, Home Alone is still considered one of the greatest Christmas movies ever made. Read on to learn more about the six Home Alone movies and where to find them all streaming online!

Like Elf and A Christmas Story, Home Alone is one of the few holiday movies that has managed to become a timeless Christmas classic. No matter how many years go by, it’s always revisited and celebrated around the holidays, especially as countless families have incorporated the movie into their Christmas traditions.

Home Alone propelled Macaulay Culkin into childhood stardom for his iconic role as Kevin McCallister, the little boy who gets left home alone on Christmas and must defend his house against burglars. The movie has remained a classic, largely due to Culkin’s performance and how he captured the heart and mischievousness of being a child. Young audiences will be absorbed in the storyline, as there are few bigger dreams in childhood than being left home alone and given the freedom to do anything one pleases. Meanwhile, older audiences will enjoy the nostalgia for childhood and the sweet moments of family connection.

Because of the original Home Alone’s unparalleled success as a Christmas classic, it is sometimes easy to forget there was more than one movie in the series. Culkin reprised his role as McCallister for a sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, which also included much of the original cast. Unfortunately, this was the last movie that Culkin and the rest of the original McCallister family actors would return for. The third installment featured a new child, Alex Pruitt (Alex D. Linz), who was left home alone. Meanwhile, Home Alone 4: Taking Back the House featured the McCallister family, but they were recast. The series also boasted two reboots.

In total, there are six films in the Home Alone franchise. None of the sequels or remakes ever eclipsed the success of the original. However, they are all light-hearted and funny Christmas movies that capture the spirit of the holidays and the joy of childhood. Few Christmas classics boast even one sequel, so it’s pretty unique that Home Alone boasts a whole series.

  • 12 Best Timothée Chalamet Movies, Ranked

12 Best Timothée Chalamet Movies, Ranked

Timothée Chalamet dominated 2024 with back-to-back hits: Wonka and Dune: Part Two. In the musical Wonka, Chalamet portrayed the eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka. The role originated with the great Gene Wilder and was later played by decorated actor Johnny Depp. That a role held by two prestigious actors has now been entrusted to Chalamet is a testimony to his acting skill. Meanwhile, in Dune: Part Two, he reprises his role as Paul Atreides, who takes on a messianic role in the movie as he battles against an oppressive empire.

It’s unsurprising that Denis Villeneuve settled on Chalamet to portray the protagonist Atreides in his Dune film series. Given his impressive resume, he is one of the most-desired young actors in Hollywood. He has boasted collaborations with some of the industry’s most influential directors, including Luca Guadagnino, Wes Anderson, and Greta Gerwig. Meanwhile, by the time he was 22, he had already nabbed an Oscar nomination for Best Actor, the highest honor a performer can receive.

One of the reasons why Chalamet is flourishing in the industry is his incredible range as an actor. He first gained attention by portraying a teen on a journey to self-discovery in Call Me By Your Name, but later also proved he could depict a young gentleman from the 1800s in Little Women, a cannibal in Bones and All, or even the heir of an aristocratic family from another planet in Dune. He was originally dubbed the “Prince of Indie” but also seamlessly transitioned to big-budget blockbusters. Regardless of the time period, setting, character, or budget he’s working with, Chalamet never fails to disappear in his roles and captivate audiences.

How we ranked Timothée Chalamet’s best movies

Given how many critically acclaimed films and beloved roles Chalamet has under his belt, ranking his best movies is challenging. To rank them accurately, we had to consider both the quality of the film and how memorable Chalamet was in it. For example, though Lady Bird is one of his most-well-rated films, his role as Kyle Scheiber isn’t as recognizable as his role as Paul Atreides or Elio Perlman.

Hence, these are Chalamet’s best movies ranked by quality, reception, and how iconic and memorable Chalamet’s role was.

But Burton has continued having huge hits throughout his career, like 2010’s Alice in Wonderland, which grossed over $1 billion at the box office, and his hit 2024 Beetlejuice sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

  • 7 Directors to Watch if You Love David Fincher Movies: From Bong Joon-ho to Alex Garland

7 Directors to Watch if You Love David Fincher Movies: From Bong Joon-ho to Alex Garland

David Fincher’s exceptional talent is undeniable. Renowned for his mastery of capturing atmospheric, wide-angle shots with a distinct dark-toned style, his art delves into profound philosophical and societal themes, frequently exploring concepts like alienation and obsession. In doing so, he skillfully portrays intricate and flawed yet captivating characters.

Among his outstanding works are films like Se7en, Fight Club, The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Gone Girl. Not to mention, his contribution to the phenomenal Netflix series Mindhunter which I will continue to hold out hope of a third season for despite repeated assurances that it will most likely never happen… His 2023 action-thriller, The Killer found a home at Netflix following a limited theatrical release.

For David Fincher fans who are interested in exploring directors with a similar visual style or thematic approach, here are seven directors like David Fincher that will certainly meet your criteria.

    Denis Villeneuve

Denis Villeneuve stands out as one of today's top directors in Hollywood. He consistently showcases his remarkable versatility across genres, particularly within the realm of drama and psychological-thrillers. His distinguished filmography includes titles like Prisoners, Sicario, Arrival, Blade Runner 2049 and Dune. Throughout his career, Villeneuve has routinely proven his mastery in crafting engaging thrillers, much like David Fincher. If you love Fincher, check out Villeneuve's Prisoners, Incendies, and Enemy.

    Nicolas Winding Refn

Nicolas Winding Refn has cultivated a unique directorial style throughout his career. It is marked by a taste for creating edgy, ultra-cool and ultra-violent works that often explore the darker facets of human nature— a concept that David Fincher is intimately familiar with. He left a significant mark on Hollywood with the Ryan Gosling-led 2011 neo-noir drama Drive and Bronson two years prior which remains one of Tom Hardy’s most notable roles. Refn’s portfolio also boasts several aesthetically driven films, highlighted by Only God Forgives and The Neon Demon. For his most Fincher-like movies, watch Drive, Only God Forgives and Bronson.

    Michael Mann

Michael Mann stands as a prominent figure among crime drama directors within the past four decades. Beginning with his 1981 neo-noir heist film Thief, Mann consistently showcases his adeptness in crafting films filled with distinct stylistic and technical nuances, something that fans of David Fincher will undoubtedly admire. His remarkable filmography includes works like Manhunter, The Last of the Mohicans, Heat, Ali and Collateral. Some of his movies most similar to Fincher include Manhunter, Heat, and Collateral.

    Bong Joon-ho

Bong Joon-ho is known as one of South Korea's leading filmmakers, largely due to his critically acclaimed works like Memories of Murder, Mother and The Host. His global cinematic stardom was cemented in 2019 with the release of Parasite, propelling him into the elite ranks of the world's top directors. David Fincher's epic crime drama Zodiac, which released in 2007, can be a fantastic double-feature with Bong’s Memories of Murder which was released four years prior and is largely considered to be the Korean Zodiac. Both Bong and Fincher exhibit a distinct talent for creating gripping and tense nail-biting thrillers, ensuring that viewers remain captivated from the opening shot to the final moments. We think Fincher fans will love Memories of Murder, Mother, and Parasite.

    Darren Aronofsky

Darren Aronofsky’s films are provocative and divisive, exemplifying his commitment to pushing the limits and delving into profound subjects like mortality and the fundamental purpose of life. His acclaimed works, such as his directorial debut Pi in 1998, have left a lasting impact on viewers, much like David Fincher’s creations. Notable among them are Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler, Black Swan and The Whale. These films embed themselves in your consciousness, resonating deeply with their audience. Check out Black Swan, Pi, and mother!

    Alex Garland

Alex Garland is a rising director known for his intricate, stylish films teeming with enduring themes and thought-provoking moments; a similarity shared with David Fincher. His knack for crafting intelligent and psychologically-surreal cinematic experiences has catapulted him to the forefront of the industry. His directorial efforts, which include works like Ex Machina, Annihilation and Men, continues to captivate audiences, leaving us eagerly anticipating his future projects. Fincher fans can check out Ex Machina, Annihilation, and Men.

    Kiyoshi Kurosawa

Widely acclaimed as the "Master of Horror," Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s filmography has served as inspiration for generations of aspiring filmmakers. His most outstanding masterpiece, 1997's Cure, predates the seminal Japanese horror works of the late 1990s and early 2000s, such as Hideo Nakata's Ring and Takashi Shimizu's Ju-On: The Grudge. Cure and David Fincher's Se7en would make a compelling double feature, expertly illustrating a detective's gradual descent into madness in the wake of a series of incomprehensible murders. Kurosawa fearlessly delves into the depths of the horror that humans can inflict upon each other, making him an essential addition to any viewer's list of must-watch directors. Delve into Kurosawa's works like Cure, Pulse, and Retribution if you're looking for something similar to a David Fincher thriller.

Fans of David Fincher’s cinematic style are bound to find delight in the works of the above mentioned directors.
