2024 is going to be a great year for television and streaming. After much of 2023 was hindered by the writers’ and actors’ strikes, audiences are finally going to be treated to a wealth of new and returning shows this year.
Not only are tons of shows returning with new seasons – like Halo, Bridgerton, Abbott Elementary, and Star Trek: Discovery – but 2024 is also going to be filled with tons of new series. Some highlights this year include the newest addition to The Walking Dead universe with AMC’s The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, which will continue the love story between Rick and Michonne as they struggle to build a relationship in a crumbling world.
Another highly-anticipated series will be the live-action Star Wars entry The Acolyte. Set at the end of the High Republic era, the show will take place before Episode I, making it set in an era earlier than any live-action Star Wars entry so far. On top of that, it looks to be highly stylized and full of mystery, all while diving into the story and lore of the Jedi.
We also have tons of new shows that have attracted huge A-List Hollywood talent, making 2024’s TV season feel more like a cinematic experience. From Kate Winslet starring as a tyrant in The Regime to Robert Downey Jr. playing a master of disguise in The Sympathizer, tons of huge stars will be leading series this year. Other big names starring in shows this year include Jodie Foster, Colin Farrell, and Naomi Watts, among many others.
Some other big premieres happening this year include the spin-off continued story of WandaVision’s fan-favorite character Agatha Harkness when she returns for Disney+’s Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, and WB’s continuation of its popular Dune films with the sequel series Dune: Prophecy premiering on Max this fall.

No matter what type of story you’re in the mood for, this year is sure to have a show you’ll love. Read on to discover 15 highly-anticipated new shows premiering this year and where to watch them.
