All 12 Zack Snyder Movies, Including Rebel Moon, Ranked

Updated on

With the release of Rebel Moon and its sequel, Zack Snyder has directed 12 movies. The filmmaker is a bit of an auteur and has a way of creating highly-polarizing movies that are both celebrated by some and admonished by others. But one thing that can’t be denied is that his movies are always unique, with a certain flair and je ne sais quoi that is distinctly his own. Read on to discover every movie he has directed along with information on where you can watch them using popular streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, Max and more!

These days, Snyder is best known for making superhero films like Justice League, but the director-writer-producer’s filmography is much more diverse – something he’s proved again with his galactic epic, Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire. The fantasy space opera chronicles a galaxy on the brink of war after a tyrant seeks to take control. Part Two: The Scargiver released a few months after the first entry in April 2024.

Taking the top spot on the list is Snyder’s directorial debut, 2004’s Dawn of the Dead. A remake of George A. Romero’s 1978 classic with a script by James Gunn, the movie was a scary new take on the zombie subgenre. It chose to focus on the human characters and the emotional and psychological impacts of a zombie apocalypse – a tactic that would be repeated by The Walking Dead a few years later. Receiving strong praise from critics and grossing over $100 million at the box office, the movie was a massive hit and launched Snyder’s career as a director.

Sucker Punch also ranked higher than many might think. Once considered Snyder’s worst film, Sucker Punch has become more relevant and powerful in the post-#MeToo era, revealing the ways women are constantly sexualized and subjected to inappropriate behavior. That, combined with its epic soundtrack and wild settings, has made the movie much more popular in retrospectives and therefore places it higher on the list than it would have been a decade ago.
