Synopsis
In a technology-addicted society, an orphan girl searches for her brother
Michelle is an orphaned teenager drifting alone in a post-apocalyptic world. When she meets a battered old drone named Skip her whole life changes. Skip encourages her to search for her missing brother and the pair begin a journey that will change Michelle's life in every way. Across a landscape of discarded technology and littered with rubbish from the past, Michelle searches across the West Coast for the only family she has left.

The Electric State is an upcoming sci-fi adventure movie. It is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the filmmaking duo behind Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame as well as Extraction and The Gray Man. The Electric State is written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely who are frequent collaborators with the Russo brothers. The pair have written a selection of movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as Pain & Gain and The Gray Man. The movie is produced by AGBO Productions for Netflix.

The movie is based on the illustrated novel of the same name by Simon Stalenhag. The book was released in 2017 and is inspired by Twin Peaks, The X-Files and the music of Nirvana. The Russo Brothers acquired the rights to turn the book into a movie in 2017.
