M3GAN 2.0 is an upcoming horror film produced by Universal Pictures. It is the direct sequel to the 2022 film M3GAN. The original movie followed an AI doll named M3GAN that becomes self-aware and angry towards those who jeopardize her connection with her human companion, Cady. It achieved major success at the box office, grossing $181 million globally despite having a reported budget of just $12 million.
James Wan returns to produce the horror sequel. He has directed several popular horror titles in the past including Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring. James Blum and Allison Williams join Wan as returning producers. Original screenwriter Akela Cooper returns to write the M3GAN sequel after having worked on such movies like Hell Fest, Malignant and The Nun II.
Girls star Allison Williams returns to portray Gemma, Cady's aunt/guardian. Violet McGraw, best known for her roles in Doctor Sleep and The Haunting of Hill House, joins Williams in reprising her role as Cady.
