Another Simple Favor (2025)

If you're looking for an irreverent and absurd murder mystery, this is the right movie for you. The twists and turns can get dizzying at times, and the film isn't as sharp or thoughtful as A Simple Favor. However, this makes it an excellent pick for viewers seeking light, off-kilter summer entertainment about two women with an unusual connection who flaunt their wealth and get caught up in wild romances and murder mysteries.

Building off the success he found with Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively in 2018's A Simple Favor, Paul Feig's sequel is broader in scope but just as cutting in execution. Shifting the story to Italy as a newly freed Emily invites her best frenemy Stephanie to her wedding, a series of murders on the island forces Stephanie to figure out what's going on before she is either framed, killed, or both. The tight writing and charming back-and-forth between Kendrick and Lively remain the film's main appeal, but the gorgeous visuals and clever twists add layers to an otherwise fun romp for mystery fans.
