Maestro is a biographical movie based on the composer Leonard Bernstein and his wife Felicia Montealegre. The movie is directed by filmmaker and actor Bradley Cooper who also stars in the lead role as Leonard Bernstein. Bradley Cooper made his directorial debut with A Star is Born and this marks his second movie. Cooper also handles the screenplay alongside screenwriter Josh Singer, who is known for his work on Spotlight and First Man. Maestro counts Hollywood legends Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg among its producers.
Carey Mulligan stars in the lead role as Felicia Montealegre. Mulligan is known for her work on movies such as Promising Young Woman, The Great Gatsby and She Said. Maya Hawke stars as Jamie Bernstein while Sarah Silverman portrays Shirley Bernstein. Michael Urie takes the role of Jerome Robbins while Gideon Glick stars as Tommy Cothran. Sam Nivola, Miriam Shor, and Alexa Swinton are all also in the cast. Maestro was released on Netflix on December 20, 2023.
