Bayard Rustin was a humanitarian worker, a civil rights activist, and a labor union organizer. An unsung hero of the movement for equal rights, Rustin was a key organizer and strategist of the 1960s. He orchestrated the March on Washington and was an integral advisor to Martin Luther King Jr. This biopic revisits his legacy as an openly gay Black man and a leader in the relentless pursuit of justice and equality.
"Anyone who enjoys learning about history or reading the biographies of historical figures will be intrigued by Rustin, which tells the powerful true story of civil rights activist Bayard Rustin. The film ensures Rustin's story is finally brought into the spotlight after his contributions to the Civil Rights Movement and aid to Martin Luther King, Jr. were largely erased from history. Viewers who prefer fact over dramatization will be especially pleased with this historically accurate account celebrating one of the Civil Rights Movement's greatest leaders."
