However, it is an entertaining reimagining, greatly elevated by the performance of Jake Gyllenhaal and over-the-top fight scenes. In addition to fans of the original, the film is likely to appeal to fans of cheesy action movies like Die Hard and Street Fighter. Road House doesn't boast a lot of depth, but it's the kind of movie one goes to see when they're looking for a bloody and action-packed good time."

"The 2024 remake of Road House is a wild ride. The story remains roughly the same as the original 80s film where a guy becomes a bouncer at a roadside bar and then fights his way through til the end of the movie. Jake Gyllenhaal stars alongside Connor McGregor and Lukas Gage, and the whole movie is…pure bonkers. It’s campy, it’s over-the-top, it’s melodrama at its best. If you want a breezy guilty pleasure (that’s loaded with shirtless men), you’re going to have an absolute blast watching Road House."

Synopsis
A fighter-turned-bouncer learns to fight for more than just blood
A former UFC fighter tries to move on with his life and so takes a job as a bouncer at a roadhouse. Throwing out trouble-makers night after night, Elwood grows fond of his new position. When a dangerous feud threatens the roadhouse, Elwood has to step up to protect his new life but it will be his hardest fight yet.
