Synopsis
Estranged from years of distance, a mother and daughter are reunited
In the midst of assassin chases and adamant assailants, the pair must protect each other to survive. In the process the daughter learns exactly why her mother gave her up in the first place. Drawn out of hiding to protect the thing she loves most, the mother makes a return to her daughter’s life to defend her from danger.

Jennifer Lopez is a highly skilled international assassin
The Mother is a thriller action movie directed by Niki Caro and distributed by Netflix. Caro is responsible for the hugely acclaimed 2002 movie Whale Rider and more recently the live-action adaptation of Mulan. The story for the movie was created by Misha Green who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Andrea Berloff and Peter Craig. Known for work on big-budget action movies, Ben Seresin is the cinematographer for this pulsating action adventure.
Leading the cast is American national icon, musician, dancer, and actress Jennifer Lopez who plays the titular assassin turned protector. Her daughter is portrayed by Lucy Paez with Joseph Fiennes stepping into a villainous role. Acclaimed actor Gael Garcia Bernal stars alongside Omari Hardwick both of whom will be crossing paths with the maternal markswoman at the heart of the story. The Mother was released on Netflix on May 12th, 2023.
