Heart Eyes (2025)

Anyone belonging to the Valentine's Day haters club will love Heart Eyes since the story follows a serial killer who hunts down and murders happy couples on the most romantic day of the year. In classic slasher movie style, victims are stalked and killed in the most graphic, brutal way possible. Hidden in the outlandish premise, the film manages to tap into a morbid reflection on loneliness, jealousy, and the dark side of love. It is also an interesting take on the romance genre, as the on-screen carnage feels twisted and oddly cathartic. But in a super fun way, which horror fans will enjoy.

I have never been so pleasantly surprised by a horror movie. Heart Eyes centers around a killer who stalks and murders couples every Valentine’s Day, but it’s soooo much more than just that. Heart Eyes is also a parody of rom-coms, taking the self-aware and satirical brilliance that makes Scream so fantastic and using it against a genre that’s often seen as the polar opposite of horror. Heart Eyes is a genuine slasher movie with a terrifying killer, but it also has a lot of laughs along the way thanks to its rom-com riffs. Anyone who loves smart and fun horror movies like Cabin in the Woods will love Heart Eyes.
