A Streaming Guide on How to Watch the Bad Boys Movies in Order

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence’s baddest of cop buddies have been busting crime syndicates and drug lords in Miami for 25 years and counting. The franchise has become known for its side-splitting laughs and thrilling action sequences that have made it a fan favourite since the first Bad Boys hit screens in 1995.

If you are looking for how (and where) to watch all the Bad Boys movies in order, use this JustWatch guide to discover where you can stream them using services like Netflix, Prime Video and more!

Get to know the Bad Boys franchise

The Bad Boys franchise is made up of four films and a spin-off series. Check out the entire franchise in order:

    • Bad Boys (1995)

    • Bad Boys II (2003)

    • LA’s Finest (2019) spin-off series not featuring Will Smith or Martin Lawrence

    • Bad Boys for Life (2020)

    • Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024)

The first Bad Boys movie directed by Michael Bay was released in 1995 and immediately became a hit with audiences wowed by the high-octane action sequences and hilarious back-and-forth between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. The two play detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett throughout the franchise, and although they are law-enforcement partners and best friends, they couldn’t be more different as people: Mike is a charming playboy while Marcus is a risk-averse family man — a contrast that lands all the better when the two have to temporarily switch roles for a case.

The second instalment, Bad Boys II (2003), saw Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return to take on a new drug cartel run by the Klan. This time, they are joined by Gabrielle Union, who plays DEA Special Agent and Marcus’ sister, Sydney.

The Bad Boys franchise took a 16-year hiatus, before being revived with 2019’s spin-off series LA’s Finest. The series lasted two seasons spanning a total of 26 episodes and follows Sydney as she starts a new position partnered with Jessica Alba’s Detective Nancy McKenna in the LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division.

In 2020, a new Bad Boys film was finally released bringing back Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as the now ageing but functional detectives. The film, Bad Boys for Life, directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, follows the duo as they go up against a vengeful foe from Mike’s past who has resurfaced intent on ruining his life.

In 2024 directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah released a fourth instalment, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which sees Mike and Marcus get to the bottom of an insidious slander campaign against the beloved late Captain Howard that ends up putting their entire careers and even lives at risk.

The action-adventure film is set in 1936, as Indy and Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) face Nazi German forces in a battle for the infamous Ark of the Covenant. The screenplay is written by Lawrence Kasdan, from George Lucas and Philip Kaufman’s story.

    The Temple of Doom (1984)

Acting as a prequel to the first movie, The Temple of Doom is set in 1935 Asia and begins with Indy surviving a murder attempt from a Shanghai crime boss. Austin Butler has also been considered for a reboot film, as the franchise looks to promote a younger cast.

Pirates of the Caribbean Spin-Offs And Short Films

There have been a number of spin-offs discussed, in addition to the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean film. One spin-off, announced in June 2020, had Margot Robbie set to star with Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey) writing the screenplay. • How (and Where) to Watch Wolverine Movies in Order

How (and Where) to Watch Wolverine Movies in Order

While Wolverine might be a surly loner, he is also one the most beloved Marvel superheroes of all time. Hugh Jackman marked Wolverine’s live action debut in 2000 in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men. The actor's portrayal quickly became a fan favourite, and Jackman would become synonymous with the role for the next 24 years. If you are looking for how (and where) to watch every Wolverine movie in release and chronological order, you can use this JustWatch guide to find out everything you need to know.

How to watch Wolverine movies in chronological order

Wolverine's adventures on the big screen include time-traveling (in Days of Future Past) and complications due to the Deadpool trilogy's meta-narratives. This means you can't simply watch Wolverine's movies chronologically according to the year in which they are set. Instead, the best way to watch them in order is to following the original timeline, then Wolverine's journey throughout Fox's rebooted timeline, and then finally his adventure with Deadpool.

    The Original Timeline:

    • X-Men Origins: Wolverine
    • X-Men
    • X2
    • X-Men: The Last Stand
    • The Wolverine

    The Fox reboot timeline:

    • X-Men: First Class (cameo)
    • X-Men: Days of Future Past
    • X-Men: Apocalypse (cameo)
    • Logan

    The Deadpool timeline:

    • Deadpool & Wolverine

Wolverine's story begins with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which includes an opening credits sequence that follows him through the years before his memory loss. The movie then shows his attempt to lead a normal life, years before he meets Charles Xavier and the X-Men. The next movie to watch is X-Men, showing how a chance encounter with Rogue leads him to teams up with the X-Men. The story continues in X2, which sheds lights on how Wolverine got his adamantium skeleton and his traumatic history with William Stryker. You can then watch X-Men: The Last Stand, followed by the standalone Wolverine movie, The Wolverine – which follows Logan as he travels to Japan to face his traumatic past. From here, the timeline of Wolverine-related movies get a little more complicated.

In 2011, 20th Century Fox released an X-Men prequel film, X-Men: First Class, set in the 1960s. Wolverine only features in a very brief cameo, so it's not essential to Logan's storyline – but watching the film will prove useful to fully understand its sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past, in which Wolverine is an important character. In Days of Future Past, Wolverine is transported back to the 1970s to try and stop an assassination which has helped create a dystopian world for mutants all over the world.

An enraged Wolverine technically appears next in X-Men: Apocalypse while suffering from the Weapon X experiment, but this is a short cameo that doesn't relate to the film's overall plot. He then does not appear in Dark Phoenix at all, marking the first time Wolverine isn't in an X-Men movie.

In 2017, Wolverine got his third solo film, Logan, which saw The Wolverine director James Mangold return for the character's supposed swan song. While it's unclear whether Logan takes place in a separate timeline entirely, it takes place decades after his days with the X-Men. It shows a Wolverine who is past his prime, as he secretly takes care of Charles Xavier in dire conditions. A shocking discovery related to his own past gives Wolverine one last mission to complete.

Although Logan was intended to be the last Wolverine movie starring Hugh Jackman, these plans changed when Jackman agreed to return to the role for Deadpool & Wolverine. It is unclear how the movie fits into the X-Men timelines – especially due to the Deadpool franchise's meta-narratives – but it makes sense to watch Deadpool & Wolverine as the final movie chronologically.

How to watch Wolverine movies in release order

If trying to work out the X-Men timelines has left you feeling dizzy, another option is to watch them all in release order. This will give you the same experience viewers had when watching Wolverine movies in theaters for the first time between 2000 and 2024.

Deadpool Movies in Order: A Streaming Guide to the Cinematic Merc with a Mouth

If you prefer your superheroes foul-mouthed, quippy, and absolutely dripping in sarcasm, Deadpool is your guy. Originally starting out as a Marvel Comics antihero, Deadpool finally ventured into the world of live-action cinema in 2009 before eventually getting his own solo movie in 2016, which spawned a 2019 sequel and a third instalment in 2024. How to Watch the Deadpool Movies in Order

Deadpool first made his foray into live-action cinema in 2009, featuring briefly in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Fans roundly trashed the depiction, furiously pointing out that the character who was known for his mouthiness and profoundly silly demeanour had his trap literally sewn shut and remained deadly serious throughout his cameo. Actor Ryan Reynolds, who played the character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, spent the next few years campaigning for a redo, and in 2016 he got his wish.

Deadpool Movies in Order of Release:

    • Deadpool (2016)
    • Deadpool 2 (2019)
    • Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)

When Deadpool arrived in cinemas, Reynolds' promise to include all the character’s foul-mouthed, fourth-wall breaking, R-rated antics was kept, to fans’ utter delight. Deadpool introduced a new brand of super/antihero whose dark humour and merciless sarcasm left no traditional superhero safe from his quips.

Given the massive success of Deadpool, fans only had to wait a couple of years before Deadpool 2 was released in 2019. The sequel was roundly celebrated by both critics and fans, and excitement for a third instalment was bolstered by the news that Disney had acquired 21st Century Fox, meaning the next feature would finally realise fans’ dreams of seeing Deadpool join in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as part of its Phase Five. With Disney’s promise to Deadpool his R-rated self, his epic team up with an alternate-universe Wolverine (once again played by Hugh Jackman) in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine was also widely beloved by fans upon release.

  • Mission: Impossible Movies in Order: Your Streaming Cruise Through the M:I Franchise

Mission: Impossible Movies in Order: Your Streaming Cruise Through the M:I Franchise

It was a hit TV series in the 1960s and 1980s, but now when you hear the name Mission: Impossible - or that propulsive Lalo Schifrin theme tune - you can only think of Tom Cruise as Impossible Missions Force agent Ethan Hunt. The franchise has slowly taken over Cruise’s film career, becoming a byword for the actor’s own incredible stunt work. Find out where to watch every Mission: Impossible movie in chronological order with our streaming guide, below.

How to watch the Mission: Impossible franchise in order

It starts with Mission: Impossible, which announces that it is not just a cash-in revival of an old favourite in the opening minutes by re-introducing and then immediately killing off the character of Jim Phelps, a remnant of the TV show. Ethan Hunt is then established as a super-capable field agent, with Ving Rhames appearing as faithful computer hacker sidekick Luther Stickell.

Mission: Impossible II sees Hunt team up with a professional thief played by Thandiwe Newton, the pair of them travelling to Australia to stop a rogue agent releasing a deadly genetically modified virus. In Mission: Impossible III, the great Philip Seymour Hoffman is an arms dealer who almost gets the better of Hunt, in a film that introduces cast regular Michelle Monaghan as Ethan’s fiancée Julia.

By this point, Tom Cruise has already dangled off a cliff, run from thousands of gallons of coursing water, and had the point of a knife held millimetres from his open eye, all of these stunts filmed without doubles and with minimal special effects. In Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, the stakes are raised further as he climbs the outside of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, in a film that also introduces core cast member Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn.

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation marks the moment when M:I becomes a more coherent franchise - this and all the subsequent films are directed by Chris McQuarrie, working closely with the real boss of the series, Tom Cruise. Before that, the films were helmed by directors who were well established in their own right: Brian de Palma, John Woo, JJ Abrams and Brad Bird.

The stunts only get more epic. In Rogue Nation there’s a fantastic motorbike chase, an unbelievable opening scene featuring Cruise hanging off the side of a plane as it takes off, and a genuinely perilous sequence where the actor is filmed underwater for an extended period and is clearly holding his breath for real.

Mission: Impossible - Fallout has a tough act to follow, but it trumps Rogue Nation with a one-take skydive, a fabulous helicopter chase and a notorious rooftop leap, during which you can clearly see the moment where Cruise breaks his ankle. Not wishing to waste a set-up that took weeks to plan, Cruise got up and ran out of shot, thus completing a usable take, before seeking medical treatment.

That brings us to Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, where the big stunt is perhaps the greatest of Cruise’s career, in terms of the amount of planning required and the level of risk involved: he rides a motorbike straight off a cliff. That movie’s upcoming sequel has a lot to live up to - and if you’ve not seen all the Mission: Impossible movies, you’ve got a lot of heart-pounding action to get through.

Where can I watch Mission: Impossible movies online in the UK?

If you're looking for where to watch every Mission: Impossible movie online, we've got you covered with this streaming guide. You can find out where to stream every movie in the franchise here, along with any offers to watch the M:I franchise legally for free on streaming services such as BBC iPlayer and ITVX.

  • How to Watch Fast and Furious Movies in Order: Your Route Through the Fast Universe

How to Watch Fast and Furious Movies in Order: Your Route Through the Fast Universe

Who could have predicted, when a little movie called The Fast and the Furious was released in 2001, that cinema-goers would be anxiously awaiting the twelfth movie in the franchise, 25 years later? Yet Fast X: Part 2 is set to be one of the biggest films of 2026.

If you need to catch up, and you’re down for a Fast and Furious streaming marathon where you watch the whole story in chronological order – which isn’t the order the films were released in! – make sure you binge correctly with our streaming guide. We'll also show you every way you can watch them on streaming services in the United Kingdom.

It takes a while for the series to find its feet as a source of spectacular action and luxurious ensemble casts, but the early movies are fine as thrillers in their own right. The Fast and the Furious introduces Vin Diesel as the leader of a gang of boy racers who are infiltrated by Paul Walker’s undercover cop. Walker speeds on without Diesel in 2 Fast 2 Furious before the pair unite in Fast and Furious - the plan is starting to come together.

The revs really rise in Fast Five. This is the one that adds Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to the mix and, more importantly, it showcases the ludicrous stunts that are to become the Fast and Furious trademark. If you haven’t seen the closing set piece, with two cars dragging a bank vault behind them through the streets of Rio de Janeiro, you need to.

After more of the same in Fast and Furious 6, the story takes a detour - this is what you need to bear in mind if you’re watching chronologically. Tokyo Drift was the third Fast and Furious movie to be released, in 2006, but it’s actually set after the events of Fast and Furious 6. So stream Tokyo Drift here. It’s almost a standalone movie, but one character’s arc makes more sense this way.

Back to the movies in release order: the franchise continued with Furious 7, but cast and crew were rocked by the death of Paul Walker during filming. Somehow the movie was not only rescued - CGI beefed up the footage of Walker that had been shot, with some rewrites taking care of planned scenes that couldn’t be salvaged - but turned into one of the best F&F instalments yet. With Jason Statham joining the line-up and with fans flocking to cinemas to pay tribute to Walker, it was a box-office monster.

Since then it’s been non-stop blockbuster action, with the likes of Charlize Theron, Vanessa Kirby, Kurt Russell, John Cena, Idris Elba and Helen Mirren all joining the fun at various points. The Fate of the Furious and F9 crank up the all-action formula - in between those, the spin-off Hobbs & Shaw has a looser, more comedic feel.

The biggest Fast and Furious story has required two movies to tell it: following 2023’s Fast X, which adds Brie Larson and Jason Momoa to the F&F gang, Part 2 is set to round off the franchise in 2026. If it’s left you behind, your streaming satnav is here.

Where can I watch Fast and Furious movies online?

With this guide, you can see all the streaming options available if you want to watch the Fast and Furious saga in the United Kingdom. We'll also let you know if you can watch any of these movies for free on services such as BBC iPlayer and ITVX.

Top 10 George Miller Movies and Where to Watch Them on Streaming Services in the United Kingdom

Best known as the creative mind behind Mad Max, George Miller is one of Australia’s most prominent filmmakers. The director, screenwriter and producer has worked in the industry since the 1970s, and has an impressive body of work both within Australia and internationally. This article shares information about Miller’s career, the top 10 best George Miller movies, and where to watch them.

George Miller founded his production company Kennedy Miller, with his friend Byron Kennedy in 1978. It is one of Australia’s oldest running production companies. Their first film together was Mad Max, and two years later they released Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. Doug Mitchell joined the company in 1981 and has been Miller’s producing partner since.

In 1983, Kennedy was killed in a helicopter crash, but Miller continued to work on film and television projects including Bodyline (1984), The Dirtwater Dynasty (1988) and Bangkok Hilton (1989) starring Nicole Kidman, Denholm Elliot and Hugo Weaving. They also released the feature film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome in 1985.

Miller then set his sights further afield, expanding into the international market. Miller directed The Witches of Eastwick starring Jack Nicholson, Cher, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfeiffer in 1987. He followed up with the Oscar nominated drama film Lorenzo's Oil in 1992, which stars American actors Nick Nolte and Susan Sarandon.

Chris Noonan directed the film, which Miller produced. Miller then directed, co-wrote and produced the sequel Babe: Pig In The City. Your Streaming Guide to Watching Harry Potter Movies in Order

The Harry Potter films brought one of the most beloved book series ever written to life and sparked the imaginations of an entire generation. In this guide, we'll show you how to watch every Harry Potter film in order, and where you can find them on streaming services in the United Kingdom. Whether they're available on Netflix, Prime Video, BBC iPlayer or any other service, you can find out the best way to watch them in the U.K. with this streaming guide.

Author JK Rowling’s massively popular series of seven novels revolves around the life of young wizard Harry Potter, and his best friends Ron and Hermione from the time they get their letters notifying them they have been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to their big confrontation with the most evil dark wizard of all time, Lord Voldemort.

All eight Harry Potter films feature in the top 100 list of highest grossing movies of all time, and their success inspired Warner Bros to further expand the universe with three Fantastic Beasts prequel films and a Harry Potter television series.

In what order should I watch the Harry Potter films?

With so much Harry Potter content to sort through, let this guide help you on your journey through the wizard world of Harry Potter by watching the films in order of release, starting with the Harry Potter films and followed by the prequel Fantastic Beasts films.

The Harry Potter films brought actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint to the fore as we witnessed them grow and mature over the 10 years it took for all eight Harry Potter films to be released. The first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was released in 2001 and introduced new and old fans to the fantastic world of magic mixed with teen drama against the backdrop of prophecy and the reemergence of a dormant evil.

The following saw the release of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and in 2004 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban brought the series into a darker era under the direction of Alfonso Cuarón. The following year, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was released, followed by Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in 2007, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in 2009.

Between 2010 and 2011, Warner Bros released Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Parts 1 and 2, after deciding one film was not sufficient to give a proper sendoff to the beloved series. The final film sits firmly in the top 20 highest grossing films of all time, after bringing in an easy £1 billion.

With the rousing success of the Harry Potter films and the clear thirst from the public for more stories in the wizarding world, Warner Bros went on to produce three prequel films. The films took their main title, Fantastic Beasts, from a textbook mentioned several times in the Harry Potter novels called Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which serves as a type of encyclopedia of magical creatures.

The Fantastic Beasts films follows the story of the book’s author, Newt Scamander, and his escapades in 1920s New York City while eventually shifting the focus of the story onto the escalating struggle between Dumbledore and Grindelwald. In total, three Fantastic Beasts films were released, including Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in 2016, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald in 2018, and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore in 2022.

  • Jurassic Park Movies in Order: A Streaming Guide to the Prehistoric Theme Park

Jurassic Park Movies in Order: A Streaming Guide to the Prehistoric Theme Park

Jurassic Park is one of the most popular franchises to come out of the 1990s and into the 21st century. Our endless fascination with prehistoric creatures means that we’ll never tire of imagining how it would be if humans and dinosaurs existed simultaneously, and the Jurassic Park films give us a tantalising, terrifying, and highly entertaining look at what that might look like. With six instalments in total over the span of nearly three decades, the Jurassic Park films have become cinema classics that merit a regular rewatch anytime.

So, strap into your Jeep Wrangler and get ready to traverse the wondrous Isla Nublar with our guide on where to watch all the Jurassic Park movies in order.

Jurassic Park is based on Michael Crichton’s 1990 novel of the same name, and was adapted for the big screen by beloved director Steven Spielberg. Upon release in 1993 it quickly became one of the highest-grossing films of all time, both in the US and internationally. The film introduced audiences to a world in which genetic engineers had been able to crack the DNA code of dinosaurs and return them to life within the confines of the theme park Jurassic Park on Isla Nublar off the coast of Costa Rica. We also were first introduced to Sir Richard Attenborough as the Park’s visionary creator, John Hammond, Sam Neill as palaeontologist Dr. Alan Grant, Laura Dern as paleobotanist Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Jeff Goldblum’s iconic mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm. Seeing dinosaurs like the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Brachiosaurus, and Velociraptor depicted on screen for the first time created a lasting cultural impression of what dinosaurs looked like for decades to come.

The film’s success guaranteed that a sequel would follow, and in 1997, The Lost World: Jurassic Park was released. Richard Attenborough and Jeff Goldblum reprised their roles once again with new additions: Julianne Moore as behavioural palaeontologist Dr. Sarah Harding and Pete Postlethwaite as game hunter Roland Tembo. 2001’s Jurassic Park III saw the return of Sam Neill and Laura Dern, and introduced new characters with Téa Leoni’s Amanda Kirby and William H Macy’s Paul Kirby. After the third film’s lacklustre reception, it seemed the Jurassic Park franchise was all but extinct – until 2015 when it was brought back to life for a new trilogy series this time called Jurassic World.

The new trilogy kicked off with Jurassic World, this time helmed by director Colin Trevorrow and featuring an all-new cast including Chris Pratt as ethologist and raptor trainer Owen Grady, and Bryce Dallas Howard as the operations manager of the new park, Claire Dearing. The film also brought back BD Wong as lead geneticist Dr. Henry Wu, who was briefly introduced in the first Jurassic Park. The film became one of the highest grossing movies of all time, even surpassing the first Jurassic Park at the box office.

Trevorrow went on to direct Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in 2018, and Jurassic World Dominion in 2022. Dominion brought the franchise full circle, bringing back the original cast in addition to the new members in a triumphant end to the second trilogy.

Watch Mad Max Movies in Order: A Streaming Guide to the Wasteland

If you're looking for a UK streaming guide to the Mad Max franchise, we've got you covered. Here you can see where to watch every Mad Max movie on UK streaming services such as Disney+ Netflix and Prime Video. We'll also let you know if you can watch it for free on services like iPlayer and ITVX.

When George Miller made his directorial debut with Mad Max in 1979, he had no idea it would become known as one of the greatest action films of all time. The film brought audiences down under to a dystopian Australia where society has collapsed into tribal warfare and the remaining population are reduced to fighting for decimated resources in a desert wasteland. If you’re in the mood to watch the Mad Max movies, check out the JustWatch guide below to find out how (and where) to watch the Mad Max movies in order!

Watch the Mad Max Movies in Order of Release

After the success of the first Mad Max, Miller went on to make two more instalments in the 1980s starring Mel Gibson before returning to the series 30 years later in 2015 with the critically acclaimed Mad Max: Fury Road starring Tom Hardy as the classic character. In 2024, Miller returned to the series with Furiosa. The film focused on the story of Imperator Furiosa, the fierce warrior played by Charlize Theron in Fury Road and portrayed by Anya Taylor-Joy in the origin story.

Mad Max Movies in Order of Release:

    • Mad Max (1979)
    • Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981)
    • Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985)
    • Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
    • Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)
    • Mad Max: The Wasteland (TBA)

In 1979, George Miller plucked the relatively unknown actor Mel Gibson out of obscurity and put him in the starring role of his daring original film as Max Rockatansky. The first film covered Max’s evolution from a rising Main Force Patrol officer to a bereft, lone drifter through the wasteland. 1981’s Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior continued Max’s story, picking up about three years later when Max finds himself helping a group of oil refinery workers trying to escape the station through a horde of murderous bikers. The third instalment, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, was released in 1985 and takes up Max's story some eighteen years later after he is exiled by settlement leader Aunty Entity and finds himself protecting a group of children who survived a crash in the desert.

After Miller hit pause on the series for some thirty years, he returned to the wasteland in 2015 with Mad Max: Fury Road, this time starring British actor Tom Hardy as the damaged but moral protagonist. Fury Road brought a new generation into the world of Mad Max and introduced us to the new character Furiosa, a renegade general trying to help five women escape the clutches of Immortan Joe. While writing the screenplay for Fury Road, Miller and screenwriters Brendan McCarthy and Nico Lathouris fleshed out the side characters to an extent that they wound up with enough material for two more films.

The next entry on this list is 2024’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which stars Anya Taylor-Joy as a young Furiosa and explores the character’s origin story. While details about the following film, Mad Max: The Wasteland are as scarce as water in the desert, it is likely we will see the return of Tom Hardy as Max in a continuation of his story.

  • 20 of the Best Sherlock Holmes Movies and TV Shows, Ranked - and How to Stream Them

20 of the Best Sherlock Holmes Movies and TV Shows, Ranked - and How to Stream Them

Are you a Benedict Cumberbatch stan or a Jeremy Brett purist? Is everyone wasting their time trying to beat Basil Rathbone, or did Robert Downey Jr reinvent the role? Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s immortal creation Sherlock Holmes has appeared in countless dramatisations - find out where to stream the best ones with our ranked streaming guide, below.

First, a shout out to the offshoots, oddballs, reimaginings and Holmeses in disguise. Sherlock is a dog in Sherlock Hound and a mouse, or at least the obvious inspiration for a mouse sleuth, in The Great Mouse Detective. In Without a Clue he’s a character created by Dr Watson. In Miss Sherlock he is a she, with a female Watson to boot. For a while in the 2000s, the biggest TV show in the world was the one starring Hugh Laurie as a man with an intimidating demeanour, a drug addiction and a genius for deduction… he was a doctor, not a detective, but if you hadn’t twigged, the title of the series - House - was a cute clue.

Of the versions that feature a human man called Sherlock, plenty of the lesser-known ones deserve to be streamed. Horror stalwart Peter Cushing was a fine Holmes on the big screen - and in The Hound of the Baskervilles he stars in the Holmes story with the scariest horror vibes. Nicholas Rowe is a sharp, quirky young Holmes in Young Sherlock Holmes; Ian McKellen is a vulnerable old Holmes in Mr Holmes. Robert Stephens is the best random, one-off Holmes ever, as the lead in Billy Wilder’s funny, imaginative The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes. Then there’s Henry Cavill in Enola Holmes.

Having been established as a lead character in film by Basil Rathbone in The Hound of the Baskervilles in 1939, Holmes was revived as a movie franchise in 2009 by Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes, with Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law making for likably energetic versions of Holmes and Watson. But in recent years, any screen Holmes has to measure up to Benedict Cumberbatch in the BBC TV series Sherlock. It made Cumberbatch an A-list star and brought Holmes back for a new generation: the later seasons arguably lose their way as they try to second-guess the show’s hyper-engaged fanbase, but at its best it’s a fearsomely slick, confident production.

Sherlock’s success left space for more TV takes on Holmes, with the American response coming in the form of Elementary. Led by Jonny Lee Miller as a troubled Sherlock in New York, its case-of-the-week format makes it a good bet for Holmes traditionalists, but Lucy Liu’s new spin on Watson keeps it fresh.

The wonder of Holmes derives from the original stories, however, and so our pick for the best Holmes ever is the one that most feels like the Conan Doyle character brought to life. That’s Jeremy Brett in Sherlock Holmes, the ITV series that ran for a decade from 1984. It’s the definitive version, with Brett the ideal of the great detective: mysterious, mercurial, playful and sharp. Scroll down to find out where to watch it, and the rest of our ranked list.

  • Where To Watch All Bridget Jones’s Diary Movies In Order

Where To Watch All Bridget Jones’s Diary Movies In Order

Bridget Jones first came to life in a weekly column in The Independent in 1995, becoming a hit with singletons across the country. Since the column, Helen Fielding has written four Bridget Jones novels, and there have been three movie adaptations (with a fourth currently in production).

Find out where you can stream all Bridget Jones’s Diary movies in order with our guide below.

    Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001)

Bridget Jones’s Diary is a romantic comedy movie released in 2001. Starring Renée Zellweger in the titular role, the film follows Bridget’s adventures as a 32-year-old single woman who writes about her life, goals, and innermost thoughts in her diary. She has a crush on her boss, Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant), and keeps bumping into an awkward but handsome barrister, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). The story is loosely based on Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

Acclaimed English actors Jim Broadbent (Iris, Hot Fuzz) and Gemma Jones (Sense and Sensibility) feature as Bridget’s parents, Colin and Pamela. Her three best friends Jude, Tom and Sharon (“Shazza”) are played by Shirley Henderson, James Callis and Sally Phillips. Bridget Jones’s Diary is directed by Sharon Maguire, Fielding’s friend who is reportedly the inspiration for Bridget’s friend Shazza.

Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004)

The second film in the franchise, based on Fielding’s novel of the same name, was released in 2004. Bridget and Mark Darcy are officially dating and happily living together, but true to form, Bridget’s insecurities soon get the better of her and their blissful relationship comes to a crashing halt. The main cast, led by Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth all reprise their roles from the original film.

The Edge of Reason is directed by Beeban Kidron, from a screenplay by Adam Brooks, Richard Curtis, Andrew Davies and Helen Fielding. The Edge of Reason ends with another very public battle between Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver, and Bridget and Mark getting engaged at the end of the movie.

    Bridget Jones’s Baby (2016)

The film franchise returned in 2016 with Bridget Jones’s Baby, as a once-again single Bridget finds out she’s pregnant and doesn’t know who the father is. At a music festival, Bridget ends up having a one night stand with mathematician Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey), and a few days later, sleeps with a recently divorced Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). New additions to the Bridget Jones franchise include Emma Thompson as Doctor Rawlings, Sarah Solemani as Bridget’s friend and co-worker Miranda, and Kate O’Flynn as Alice Peabody.

Bridget Jones’s Baby was not based on a specific novel but more a continuation of Helen Fielding’s Bridget Jones column. Fielding co-wrote the screenplay with Dan Mazer and Emma Thompson, and Sharon Maguire returned to direct. In the same year, Fielding released her novel Bridget Jones’s Baby: The Diaries.

Will there be a fourth Bridget Jones movie?

Yes! Bridget Jones is headed back on screen, with Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy. The confirmed cast includes Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall. English film and television director Michael Morris will be directing Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, from a screenplay written by Helen Fielding, Abi Morgan and Dan Mazar.

Fielding has revealed that the film takes place four years after Mark Darcy dies, leaving Bridget a fifty-year-old single mother dipping her toe in the dating pool once again. The film is expected to be released on Valentine’s Day, 2025.

Here are all the Bridget Jones’s Diary movies in order, and where to watch them.

  • Every Alex Garland Movie and TV Show, In Order - And How to Stream Them

Every Alex Garland Movie and TV Show, In Order - And How to Stream Them

Alex Garland has come a long way since The Beach made him a celebrated novelist at the end of the 1990s. Back then, his tale of drugs and excess on the Asian backpacking trail ensured he was cult literature’s next big thing, but Garland had bigger, grander plans for himself. As shown by Civil War, the latest movie dystopia written and directed by Garland, the British auteur has become one of sci-fi and fantasy cinema’s most important visionaries. Find out where to stream all his work in chronological order with our streaming guide, below.

The Beach became a film in 2000, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by Danny Boyle. The screenplay wasn’t written by Garland, but he still struck up a relationship with Boyle, writing two of the British director’s subsequent films. The zombie/virus apocalypse horror 28 Days Later, with an original screenplay by Garland, was a huge hit; the thoughtful space drama Sunshine, which reunited Boyle and Garland with lead actor Cillian Murphy, was less successful but was still an imaginative, serious piece of work.

After providing uncredited rewrites for 28 Days Later sequel 28 Weeks Later, and dramatising the Kazuo Ishiguro novel Never Let Me Go for director Mark Romanek, Garland wrote Dredd, a comic-book adaptation now seen as a cult classic - according to star Karl Urban, Garland was so instrumental in completing the film after director Pete Travis left the project prematurely that he ought to be seen as its real director.

Then Garland did start officially directing his own scripts, and his career immediately stepped up a level. He started with Ex Machina, a tautly confined but visually stunning fable about an artificially intelligent robot that is dangerously close to human-like sentience. Next came what is perhaps Garland’s greatest achievement to date, the unforgettable Annihilation. Starring Natalie Portman as the leader of a group of female scientists sent to investigate an alien crash zone known for inexplicable happenings, it’s a very rare example of a high-concept horror that gets scarier and scarier as it goes on, without losing its philosophical thread.

Following that breakthrough, Garland took stock and pivoted briefly into television, helming a deep-thinking sci-fi series: Devs tells the story of an advanced quantum computing company whose bosses are willing to kill to protect their secrets.

Garland returned to cinema with a modern take on folk horror. Men sees Jessie Buckley play a traumatised widow whose holiday to a remote English village becomes a nightmare filled with visceral peril, but the twist - Rory Kinnear apparently playing multiple roles - places the film squarely in the Garland canon of movies with a big central idea, cannily executed.

That brings us to Civil War, which pushed Garland back towards the top of the box-office charts. Kirsten Dunst and regular Garland cast member Nick Offerman star in a sweeping tale about a near-future America descending into violence - Garland can be relied on to make such a story as thrilling as it is thought-provoking.

Watch all of Alex Garland’s work in order using our streaming guide below.

  • Every Guy Ritchie Movie and TV Show, In Order - and How to Stream Them

Every Guy Ritchie Movie and TV Show, In Order - and How to Stream Them

In 2023, Guy Ritchie celebrated 25 years as a feature film director. His reputation has risen and fallen a couple of times along the way, but he’s still here and, with Netflix’s The Gentlemen, he’s successfully hopped aboard the bandwagon of converting films to streaming TV series. Find out how to watch all Ritchie’s work in chronological order with our streaming guide below.

Ritchie arrived in 1998 with the low-budget gangster comedy-drama Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, which featured several of the motifs that would re-occur throughout the director’s career: a performance by Jason Statham, who was then unknown; another by Vinnie Jones, who was previously known only as a footballer; and an interest in the wisecracking but bumbling low-lifes populating the criminal underworld in London. Ritchie cannily followed up this cult hit by making basically the same movie again, but with bigger stars: Snatch retained Statham and Jones in its cast, adding Brad Pitt as an indecipherable Irishman and Benicio del Toro as a gambler/thief named Frankie Four-Fingers.

Ritchie was by now a star, all the more so for having married Madonna in the year Snatch was released. At this point, his golden touch deserted him, with his first critical mauling coming for Swept Away, an island castaway movie with Madonna in the lead. Ritchie then returned to his roots with the crime capers Revolver and RocknRolla, starring Jason Statham and Gerard Butler respectively.

Neither was as well received as his first two films, but Ritchie was still in the game, and his next move hustled him into a new area of mass-market movie-making: he helmed 2009’s Sherlock Holmes and its 2011 sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, with Robert Downey Jr as Holmes and Jude Law as Watson. Both were chunky box-office hits. Ritchie now had a second string to his bow, as an overseer of reboots and reimaginings.

Neither The Man from U.N.C.L.E. nor King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, his next two movies, made anywhere near as much money as their studios were hoping. But Ritchie bounced back again when he took charge of the live-action remake of Aladdin, released in cinemas in 2011. Starring Will Smith as the genie, Aladdin was a billion-dollar smash.

Soon after, Ritchie also restored his knack for creating naughty thrillers about chaps committing crimes: The Gentlemen recruited Matthew McConaughey, Colin Farrell and Hugh Grant to the Ritchie repertory, telling a tall tale about American drug dealers coming up against old-fashioned British wrong’uns. Ritchie then reunited with Jason Statham for action thriller Wrath of Man and spy comedy Operation Fortune.

The more serious war drama The Covenant was loved more by critics than by audiences, for the first time in Ritchie’s career - the same can’t be said of The Gentlemen, an unpretentious TV spin-off from Ritchie’s own movie that debuted on Netflix in 2023. Good or bad, successful or flop, Guy Ritchie’s films always aim primarily to entertain, and he did that again in 2024 with The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

Starring as both twins in Nancy Meyers’s directorial debut, Lohan was outstanding as (both twins) Annie and Halle Parker alongside Dennis Quaid and Natasha Richardson. The romantic comedy went on to garner very positive reviews from critics, especially for Lohan’s performance, and grossed $92 million on a $15 million budget.

After this early success, Lohan continued to front Disney features for both TV and the big-screen taking on titular roles in Life-Size, Get a Clue and Confessions of Teenage Drama Queen. The actress also co-starred with Jamie Lee Curtis in the body-swapping fantasy comedy, Freaky Friday. Another firm favourite for young audiences, this Disney film went on to soar at the box office taking $160 million worldwide on a $26 million budget.

Lohan was widely regarded as a teen idol, a status that was firmly consolidated when she landed the lead role in Tina Fey’s teen comedy, Mean Girls. Alongside Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert, Lohan led the cast as Cady Heron, a home-schooled teen from Africa who started high school in the United States for the first time. The sleeper hit was widely praised for its humour and even bagged three Teen Choice Awards and two MTV Movie Awards, alongside its place in the hearts of teen girls worldwide. From Jurassic Park to Palm Royale: Every Laura Dern Performance Ranked and Where to Watch Them

Laura Dern is best known for her role as Ellie Sadler in the Steven Spielberg dinosaur epic, Jurassic Park. Yet, the American actress has had a varied career over the last almost four decades, starring in billion-dollar franchises as well as period classics. Read on to discover every Laura Dern movie and TV show and where to stream them.

Back in the early ‘80s, Dern began her acting career before making her breakout role in films such as Mask and David Lynch’s Blue Velvet. Before long, the actress was starring in revered independent and medium budget films such as Wild at Heart and Rambling Rose, which even earned the actress her first Academy Award nomination.

Yet, in 1993 Dern soared to new heights when she starred in Speilerg’s science fiction film, Jurassic Park alongside Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum. The cult classic remains regarded as one of the greatest films of all time and has an impressive legacy considering its $63 million budget, as it went onto gross over $1 billion at the box office - which was almost unheard of in the ‘90s. It became the highest grossing film of all time, and held that title until 1997 when James Cameron released the romantic drama, Titanic.

The epic adaptation of Michael Crichton’s 1990 novel of the same name, kick-started the franchise that has since spawned its own trilogy and the Jurassic World trilogy too. Dern reprised her role as Sadler in Jurassic World III, a less successful (grossing $368 million), but still nail-biting installment, and in 2022 in Jurassic World: Dominion. The long-awaited reunion and crossover between the two dino-loving teams grossed $1 billion at the box office, which was even more impressive after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The actress is also well known for her long-standing collaborations with Reese Witherspoon and her production company Hello Sunshine. After starring in the 2014 biopic Wild together, which earned Dern her second Academy Award nomination, the duo fronted the award-winning HBO series, Big Little Lies alongside Shailene Woodley.

Based on Liane Moriarty’s novel of the same name, the comedy drama is one of Dern’s finest performances of her career. She won a Primetime Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award for her performance as Renata Klein in the two-season show.

Since then, Dern has landed supporting roles in films such as Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story, and starred in Greta Gerwig’s award-winning adaptation of Little Women. The actress returned to the small-screen in 2024 to star in the Apple TV original series, Palm Royale alongside Kristen Wiig.

With so many impressive performances to choose from, here’s every Laura Dern movie and TV show ranked and where to stream them.

  • Every Season of Top Boy, In Order - and How to Stream It

Every Season of Top Boy, In Order - and How to Stream It

One of the UK’s best ever gangster series, Top Boy has had a history on broadcast channels and streaming TV that is almost as unpredictable as the lives of its characters: a cancellation, a celebrity endorsement, a new home, a change of name and, in 2023, the release of a fifth and final season all form part of the show’s story. Find out where to watch all of Top Boy in the right order in our streaming guide below.

Top Boy made an explosive debut on Channel 4 in 2011, taking us into the (fictional) Summerhouse estate in Hackney, east London and introducing us to the two characters who would drive the action right up until the devastating final episode, 12 years later. Dushane (Ashley Walters) and Sully (Kane Robinson) are drug dealers whose friendship is constantly put at risk by the dangerous world they live in and their own competing ambitions.

As well as Sully and Dushane, season one also follows the story of Ra’Nell (Malcolm Kamulete), a schoolboy whose difficult domestic circumstances cause him to be dragged slowly into a world of threats and violence, and Kamale (Tayo Jarrett), a ruthless rival drug dealer who tries to muscle in on the Summerhouse turf. Season two deals with the aftermath of the clash with Kamale, and with the first cracks in Sully and Dushane’s alliance.

Those original two seasons have now been bought by Netflix and rebranded as Top Boy: Summerhouse - if you see that on your Netflix screen, don’t worry, it’s the same show, and that’s what you should watch first. Netflix made the change in order to differentiate the Channel 4 seasons from the subsequent three, which began showing on Netflix in 2019, six years after Top Boy had been cancelled by Channel 4.

The revival came about thanks to the drama’s strong links with the world of music: Walters, Robinson (aka Kano) and Jarrett (aka Scorcher) were all better known as rappers before turning to acting, and it was Canadian MC Drake who was instrumental in ensuring Top Boy continued. With Drake, a huge Top Boy fan, on board as executive producer, the show returned as a Netflix exclusive and ran for three further seasons.

Those episodes - they’re the ones Netflix refers to simply as Top Boy - widen the scope of the show, with scenes set inside prison and in Jamaica, Spain and Morocco. But the rivalry between Sully and Dushane persists, as does the programme’s sharp depiction of how easy it is for those living in deprived areas of London to be sucked into violent crime. That smart, humane view of the context in which drug wars occur - the changing face of London in the 2010s and 2020s, as inequality increases and life for Summerhouse residents becomes even harder, is examined with increased focus in the Netflix revival - is what makes Top Boy a modern classic.

See below for where to stream the box set from the start.

Theo James rose to fame in the mid 2010s when he was cast in a lead role in the Divergent film series, before he evolved into the action comedy star he is today. The English actor stars in Guy Ritchie’s highly anticipated spin-off series on Netflix, The Gentlemen in the lead role as Edward. Read on to discover Theo James’ best performances and where to stream them.

After the success of Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name, which grossed $115 million on a $22 million budget, Netflix commissioned an eight-part spin-off series that follows a similar trajectory to the film. On his father’s death, Edward (James) inherits all the responsibilities that come with being Duke of Halstead.

Thrown into a criminal underworld, with debts to settle and favors to fulfill, it’s an adrenaline-fuelled adventure for Edward and his incompetent brother Freddie (Daniel Ings), which will leave you at the edge of your seat.

Despite his success on the small-screen in The White Lotus, The Time Traveler’s Wife and ITV's adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sanditon, James has also played an integral role in two major film franchises.

After starring in several independent films and appearing in rite of passage British classics such as Downton Abbey, James was cast in the action horror film, Underworld: Awakening. Led by Kate Beckinsale, the sequel to 2006’s Underworld: Evolution went onto become the most successful of the franchise securing $160 million at the box office.

Soon after, James was cast as Tobias Eaton in the dystopian trilogy, Divergent. Alongside Shailene Woodley, the duo fronted the adaptation of Veronica Roth’s novels, which garnered widespread commercial success.

The first installment stormed the box office reaching $288 million on an $85 budget, while the 2015 sequel Insurgent outshone that with $297 million. Though the final installment, Allegiant, didn’t garner the same commercial success, dipping below $180 million at the box office, it was a strong end to a beloved series.

However, arguably, James has delivered the best performances of his career in recent years. From the action-packed Netflix film, How It Ends, to his role in the acclaimed HBO series, The White Lotus, which James received a Primetime Emmy Nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama.

Equally, in the titular role in The Gentlemen, James has the scope to display the breadth of his acting skill flitting from humor to action to anger with ease, delivering one of the best performances of his career.

With so many roles to choose from throughout his established career, here’s the best Theo James performances ranked and where to stream them.

  • Christopher Nolan and Every Winner of Best Director at the Oscars - and How to Stream Them

Christopher Nolan and Every Winner of Best Director at the Oscars - and How to Stream Them

The directors of popcorn blockbusters and low-budget indies might try to say otherwise, but there’s no denying that winning Best Director at the Academy Awards is the biggest honour a film-maker can achieve. The winner at the 2024 Academy Awards - Christopher Nolan for Oppenheimer - is the latest addition to a hallowed list. See below for our guide on where to stream every film that has won Best Director at the Oscars.

In recent years, there has been a clear move by the Academy towards answering the criticism that if you want to be named Best Director, you had better be a white man from America or the UK. Along with co-director Daniel Scheinert, Daniel Kwan won in 2023 for Everything Everywhere All at Once, a movie centred on the Chinese-American community. That came two years after Chinese-born Chloé Zhao scooped the statue for Nomadland; the year before that, Korean director Bong Joon-ho was the winner with Parasite.

The 2010s were all about the “Three Amigos”, Mexican directors Alejandro González Iñárritu, Guillermo del Toro and Alfonso Cuarón. Friends for decades, the trio’s parallel careers, all of which included stints working in Mexican television, peaked at the same time, leading to this incredible run of Best Director wins from 2013 to 2018: Cuarón (Gravity), Iñárritu (Birdman), Iñárritu (The Revenant), someone else (Damien Chazelle for La La Land), Del Toro (The Shape of Water), Cuarón (Roma). ¡vamos!

Move back into the White Guy era, and you have a solid list of classics by some of cinema’s greatest exponents. Clint Eastwood won for Unforgiven and again, more than a decade later, for Million Dollar Baby. Martin Scorsese may have been overlooked in his early career, but the Academy finally made up for it by handing him the Best Director Oscar for The Departed. Steven Spielberg also does not live or die by how many awards he wins, but he did take the directing Oscar for Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan.

Here’s a quiz question for your film-fan friends: name the three directors to have won the Best Director Oscar in consecutive years? Alejandro González Iñárritu is one, of course, but major kudos if you know the others without Googling: John Ford (for The Grapes of Wrath and How Green Was My Valley in 1940/41) and Joseph L Mankiewicz (for A Letter to Three Wives and All About Eve in 1949/50).

Ford leads the all-time winner list with four Best Director Oscars, having also won for The Informer and The Quiet Man. Will that record ever be beaten? Probably not, but owning just one Best Director Oscar is the sign of an extraordinary film-making career. Find out where to watch all the films that have earned that prize with our streaming guide below.

  • The Best Jessie Buckley Performances Ranked and Where To Watch Them

The Best Jessie Buckley Performances Ranked and Where To Watch Them

Since her on-screen debut in the BBC talent series, I’d Do Anything in 2008, Jessie Buckley has been at the forefront of some of the biggest films and TV series. From Women Talking to Fingernails, read on to discover all of Jessie Buckley’s best performances and where you can watch them.

Early into her career, the Irish actress became known for her role in television series such as War & Peace, as well as independent films such as Taboo, Beast and Wild Rose. After the modest success in these roles, Buckley joined the cast of the 2019 historical drama, Chernobyl, alongside Jared Harris, Paul Ritter and Stellan Skarsgård.

The five-part series details the horrific 1986 disaster at Chernobyl and the years that followed, which received wide-spread critical acclaim for the way the series handled the difficult subject matter. Overall, the show received nineteen Primetime Emmy nominations and took home three awards, while it also won the Golden Globe for Best Miniseries or Television Film.

Shortly after, Buckley joined the fourth season of the award-winning crime drama, Fargo, and landed the lead role in Netflix’s I’m Thinking of Ending Things. The psychological thriller received positive reviews, especially for Buckley’s performance alongside her co-stars Jesse Plemons, Toni Collette and David Thewlis.

Over the years, Buckley has appeared in various different genres; as part of the ensemble in the Robert Downey Jr-led fantasy adventure, Dolittle, one of the lead roles in the biopic Judy and in the British comedy-drama, Misbehaviour.

More recently, Buckley appeared in the adaptation of Miriam Toew’s novel of the same name, Women Talking. Despite its humble box office success of $9 million, the film received rave reviews after its debut at the Telluride Film Festival and won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

She also starred in the science-fiction romantic drama, Fingernails, alongside Riz Ahmed and Jeremy Allen White, which explored whether love can ever be quantified for people to be a 100% match with each other.

Arguably though, it is Buckley’s performance in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut, The Lost Daughter, that has brought the actress the most acclaim. The 2021 psychological drama follows Leda (Olivia Coleman) on her seaside vacation who becomes fixated on a mother and daughter duo who are staying nearby, as it triggers a deep period of reflection for her. For her supporting role in the film, Buckley was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

The actress has collaborated with her former co-star Coleman once again for the outrageously funny, black comedy, Wicked Little Letters, which debuted in cinemas in February. Both stars take on the leading roles as neighbors, where Edith (Coleman) is convinced that Rose (Buckley) is writing nasty letters to her, so detectives have to step in to solve this small-town mystery.

With an impressive filmography to digest, here are the best Jessie Buckley films and TV series ranked and where to stream them.

  • Silo to Dune: The Best Rebecca Ferguson Performances Ranked and Where To Watch Them

Silo to Dune: The Best Rebecca Ferguson Performances Ranked and Where To Watch Them

Rebecca Ferguson has been involved with some of the best TV series and film franchises in recent years. From Silo to The Greatest Showman, Ferguson has demonstrated the breadth of her range across a variety of genres. Read on to discover a full ranking of her best performances and where to stream them now.

Back in 1999, the Sweden-born actor made her debut in a Swedish soap opera, Nya tider, before she made her first feature film appearance in a slasher horror, Drowning Ghost.

It wasn’t until 2013 when Ferguson ascended into international prominence in the British drama, The White Queen. For her performance as Elizabeth Woodville, Ferguson was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Miniseries.

After her small-screen success, the actress went onto join the Mission: Impossible franchise alongside Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg as MI6 agent Isla Faust. Ferguson first appeared in the fifth installment, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, which excelled at the box-office to gross over $688 million.

She reprised her role in the action-packed sequels, Mission: Impossible - Fallout and the penultimate film in the series, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning. As Faust, Ferguson played a pivotal role in the IMF’s and Ethan Hunt’s own future and even delivered some epic stunts too.

Alongside this, the actress shone as Jenny Lind in the award-winning movie musical, The Greatest Showman. The Oscar-nominated movie also went onto secure a Grammy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Original Song for “This Is Me.” Since its positive release in 2017 and strong box office of $435 million, the film has gained a cult following for its songs about hope, acceptance and empowerment.

Ferguson has also appeared in supporting roles in the award-winning adaptation of The Girl on the Train, space-based film Life and another cult supernatural horror, Mike Flanagan’s Doctor Sleep.

Arguably, Ferguson’s best work appears in her leading roles in striking science-fiction projects. The actress plays the pivotal part of Lady Jessica in Dune and Dune: Part Two, who is the mother of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and concubine of Duke Leto (Oscar Isaac).

As one of the powerful sisters in the Bene Gesserit, Ferguson as Jessica delivers an emotional and nuanced performance, as the overprotective mother who influences the people of Arrakis to believe her son is their messiah from their prophecies.

Similarly, on the small screen, Ferguson starred in the titular role in Apple TV+ series Silo, which debuted on the platform last year. The ten-part dystopian series saw the actress star as Juliette Nichols, for which she received positive reviews for her commitment to the role, alongside the impressive production design of the entire series.

With so many incredible films and TV series to sift through, here’s the best Rebecca Ferguson performances ranked and where to watch them now.

Audiences looking for a dose of drama (and love), no longer have to wait until the summer for ITV2’s smash-hit series, Love Island. For the first time in the reality series’ history, the show released a reunion-style spin-off show titled Love Island: All Stars in January to welcome some familiar faces back to find love. Read on to discover 15 similar series and where to stream them right now.

Rather than a winter Love Island, new host Maya Jama returned to welcome former contestants from the past 10 seasons to a tropical new location to partner up and find love. Beneath the beaming sun, there were many awkward reunions between former exes, but it culminated in a happy ending for winners Molly Smith and Tom Clare. Though this series had the shortest run time in the show’s history, lasting only 36 days, the gripping finale still attracted a whopping 1 million viewers.

Thankfully, there’s a whole host of reality series that boast similar levels of drama as individuals try to find the one. Whether you’re keen to watch someone walk down the aisle to marry a total stranger in Married at First Sight or someone without ever seeing their face in Love is Blind, there’s lots of different social experiments that try to help people find true love - and entertain us in the process. Let’s not forget that there’s also international versions of these series to binge too, such as Married at First Sight Australia and Love Island USA.

Netflix is home to the steamier sister of Love Island, Too Hot to Handle, which sees 10 adults, who have previously opted for short-term liaisons try and find long-term relationships. They spend four weeks in a house all together, but they’re forbidden from starting any physical relationship with each other. If they break the rules, then the prize money quickly dwindles.

The platform also has several seasons of Love on the Spectrum, The Ultimatum: Marry Me or Move On and another deserted island that can only be left when you find love, Single’s Inferno, all of which are available to stream now too.

Meanwhile, there’s several seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette to binge, including the new spin-off series, Bachelor in Paradise. Similar to All Stars, former single contestants reunite on a beach to search for a summer romance. It boasts all the tropical escapism that you might just crave after that dose of winter sun in Love Island.

Channel 4 also brought reality series fans the unconventional dating show, Five Dates A Week elevates the everyday kind of dating, viewers might be able to relate too. It follows one person as they go on a date every weeknight for one week. The hope is that by increasing the amount of dates it increases the odds of finding the one.

With several months to go until the main series of Love Island returns in June, here’s some of the best TV series to watch right now like Love Island: All Stars and where to stream them.

  • The 10 Best Florence Pugh Movies, Ranked - and How to Stream Them

The 10 Best Florence Pugh Movies, Ranked - and How to Stream Them

Usually an actor has several small parts in films to allow them to get used to working on the big screen, before they reveal who they are and what they can do. Not Florence Pugh.

In 2015, when she suddenly appeared as the co-lead in The Falling, a woozy allegorical drama about a fainting outbreak in a 1960s English girls’ school, Pugh was still in school herself. Her performance as the more advanced of two intensely connected best friends led stunned reviewers to declare her a star, and they were right: ten years on she’s appeared in highly acclaimed dramas and big commercial hits. Her new film, Dune: Part Two, is both at once. Find out where to watch our pick of the ten best Florence Pugh movies below.

Pugh followed up The Falling with an even stronger turn in Lady Macbeth, a hard-as-nails domestic drama set in Northumberland in 1865. Not a Shakespeare story and arguably more brutal and shocking than anything the Bard ever came up with, the film is powered by Pugh as a woman who escapes her loveless marriage and nightmarish home life by resorting to violence and much else besides. It’s a movie that requires complete conviction from its lead actress, and Pugh never wavers.

Pugh subsequently popped up in the post-Taken Liam Neeson thriller The Commuter, and returned to historical drama for Outlaw King. After that, however, she took a left turn by topping the bill in Fighting with My Family, Stephen Merchant’s true-life comedy drama about the British wrestler Saraya Bevis, who makes it as a WWE star at the expense of her supposedly more talented brother. Pugh was still playing a young woman defying expectations, but this film was a palatable mainstream crowd-pleaser.

That made Pugh a big enough name for her to be cast alongside Emma Watson and Saoirse Ronan in Little Women, helmed by future Barbie director Greta Gerwig, and to become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe by starring opposite Scarlett Johansson in Black Widow - a sequel to that movie, Thunderbolts, is on the way. She also makes a brief but important appearance in current awards favourite Oppenheimer.

Pugh’s great strength, however, remains films that are beguiling and enveloping to the point of being overwhelming, preferably with an element of folk horror. She’s an English nurse visiting Ireland to witness an alleged miracle in The Wonder, a tale full of religious fervour and creeping dread.

Our choice of the best Florence Pugh movie goes some way beyond mere dread. Pugh takes the lead in Midsommar, a simply unforgettable nightmare of a film in which she plays Dani, a traumatised American student whose visit to a rural Swedish commune turns into a symphony of psychological unease and horrifically imaginative violence, as the countryside gathering reveals itself to be a crazed cult. Pugh’s face in the final shot is what really stays with you - and as an A-list film actor, Pugh is certainly here to stay. See where to stream our ten best Florence Pugh movies in the list below.

  • The 10 Best Benedict Cumberbatch Movies, Ranked - and How to Stream Them

The 10 Best Benedict Cumberbatch Movies, Ranked - and How to Stream Them

He may once have admitted that his name “sounds like a fart in a bath”, but Benedict Cumberbatch has for years been a name revered enough - and indeed, long enough - to fill the top line of a poster and launch a hit film, be it a superhero blockbuster or an arthouse favourite destined for Oscar glory. Find out where to stream all Benedict Cumberbatch’s greatest movies below, in our list of his ten best film roles.

After a couple of early bit parts, Cumberbatch properly got started in film with Starter for 10, an agreeable British rom-com centred on the immortal TV quiz University Challenge. Cumberbatch’s role, as a snooty posh guy who can’t stop James McAvoy’s ordinary guy becoming the hero, was easy pickings. After supporting stints as less than sympathetic characters in Atonement and The Other Boleyn Girl, and a bit part in daring satire Four Lions, Cumberbatch’s film stock shot up thanks to his starring role in the TV series Sherlock.

Soon after, he was part of an extremely starry cast in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, although a more rewarding Cumber-watch from around the same time is his lead turn in tense adultery drama Wreckers, in which he plays half of a couple whose relationship unravels when they return to the rural community where the husband grew up. This was a harbinger of the sort of intense role Cumberbatch would excel in later on in his career.

But the Sherlock stardom soon meant Cumberbatch became part of major franchises. He starred in all three Hobbit movies, directed by Peter Jackson, with his character - a dragon, which meant a lot of extravagant movements performed in front of a green screen - making it into the title of the second film, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Plus he is a key part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, leading Doctor Strange and the superior follow-up, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

As a renowned voice artist he has contributed to numerous animated projects, with his talent for growls, moans and groans making The Grinch one to stream, but one suspects his heart is really in serious, character-based work, such as his leads in the historical dramas The Imitation Game and The Courier - the first as the godfather of modern computing, Alan Turing; the second as a businessman recruited as an intermediary by British intelligence - and his memorable supporting roles in 12 Years a Slave and 1917.

Our pick for Cumberbatch’s best film is perhaps his toughest role of all, but one in which he triumphed. Jane Campion’s clever, sinewy revenge drama The Power of the Dog allowed him to play a fearsome but ultimately vulnerable monster of a man, an intimidating presence on the screen who slowly reveals his weakness. Campion took the Academy Award for Best Director, but her star was a huge part of the movie’s success. Watch The Power of the Dog and the rest of our Cumberbatch top ten below.

In this game, a mole is chosen out of the 12 players who sets out to sabotage the other competitors from winning the hefty prize money.

Equally, no one can forget Netflix’s smash-hit South Korean drama, Squid Game, which debuted back in 2020 and gripped millions of subscribers across the world. Now this cult show, which became the most streamed non-English language title on the platform, has released its own reality series titled Squid Game: The Challenge.

With so many nail biting reality series to choose from, here are the top ten TV series to stream now like The Traitors.

  • 10 TV Shows To Watch if You Love Gladiators

10 TV Shows To Watch if You Love Gladiators

Leotards, giant foam fingers and oversized obstacle courses are BACK on television on Saturday nights, thanks to BBC1 reviving the cult teatime classic that is Gladiators. The remake once again sees physically fit members of the public take on the resident gladiators - hulking ex-athletes with glistening muscles and monikers like Apollo, Bionic, Diamond and Fire - in a series of bruising challenges. Want more pumped, slightly cartoonish action that looks like sports from the future, if the future turns out to be cheesy but fun? See below for our guide to your next shows to stream if you’re a Gladiators fan.

Which TV shows are similar to Gladiators?

Gladiators is big, brash and colourful, so it’s no surprise to learn that the original, definitive version is American - and so our top pick has to be American Gladiators. It debuted in 1989, which means it adds big hair to the big biceps, and over the course of seven seasons it hones what we would now recognise as the classic roster of games. But it’s a bit more violent than the UK version: a lot of it is like American football without the padding.

American Gladiators was a big hit, which meant it attracted a fervent fanbase, but it was also a chaotic production that almost didn’t make it to air. All the behind-the-scenes gossip is in Muscles and Mayhem: An Unauthorized Story of American Gladiators, a breathlessly entertaining documentary series.

Gladiators imitators have come and gone over the years, with British telly having had success with Total Wipeout and Ninja Warrior, both of which tried to be Gladiators without the gladiators: ordinary folk took on huge obstacles, but there weren’t any beefcakes trying to hinder them. Australian Ninja Warrior is the blondest, most bronzed version out there. Then there’s the internationally focused Ultimate Beastmaster, which takes teams from different nations and sets them up in competition with each other. Variations on the theme include Strong, which helps American women to lose weight by pairing them up with sculpted male training gurus and then setting the duos strength-building tasks.

All these shows owe a debt to the genius mayhem of 1980s Japanese cult classic Takeshi’s Castle. Last year it returned, with Amazon Prime Video adding British commentators Romesh Ranganathan and Tom Davis to make Romesh and Tom Take Takeshi’s Castle, an even more hilarious take on an already funny show.

In the wake of the hit drama Squid Game, Korea has latched on to the magic of souped-up pseudo-sport with Squid Game: the Challenge, a real-life version of the competition from the fictional show that makes an important tweak to the format: failed competitors are not killed. Even better is Physical: 100, in which the nation’s fittest people are put through their paces by an unseen gamesmaster.

Back in the UK, there’s a lot of Gladiators in SAS: Who Dares Wins, although the tough special forces guys who form the show’s judging panel wouldn’t like to admit it. It’s still random punters taking on elaborate tests of endurance.

Where can I watch TV shows like Gladiators?

Fancy your own marathon of Gladiators-esque shows? Here are our top 10 picks, and where to stream them right now.

  • Where to Watch the Best Michael Caine Movies Online – A Streaming Guide

Where to Watch the Best Michael Caine Movies Online – A Streaming Guide

Michael Caine first appeared on the big screen in 1956, in a film called A Hill in Korea. He ended his career – at least for now, because retired actors do have a habit of coming back for one more job – in 2023 with The Great Escaper. The decades in between are a life in cinema well lived, moving from genre to genre, and from major star to venerated supporting artist. In this guide you can find where to watch the best Michael Caine films on popular streaming services in the United Kingdom. This includes Michael Caine films streaming on Netflix, Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, and many more. We'll also show you which Michael Caine movies are available to stream legally for free today.

What are the best Michael Caine movies?

After breaking through with Zulu in 1964, Caine was unafraid to experiment with his new star status, returning the following year with the angular, cool spy thriller The Ipcress File. His anti-hero Harry Palmer is a dodgy geezer who has to adapt to changed circumstances in order to survive: Caine’s cocky charm and steely interior perfectly match the movie’s effort to be a sort of realist/arthouse James Bond film.

Charm in abundance got Caine through the rest of the 1960s, with the romantic romp Alfie being another Caine movie that, like Zulu, hasn’t dated well. Then there’s The Italian Job, which is pure fun and the peak of cheeky-chappy Caine, even if it’s hard to call it a classic.

Our pick for Caine’s best film comes at the start of the darker, tougher 1970s. Caine swapped swinging London for grimy, unforgiving Newcastle in the noir-ish Get Carter, a film that reinvented how British cinema dealt with urban violence. As a belligerent loose cannon whose methods are outdated and who doesn’t know what he is messing with, Caine is a huge presence in a taut, sparse film that the actor took on when he could easily have relaxed into blockbuster star vehicles.

He did appear in a couple of corking crowd-pleasers soon after that, in the form of the fiendish cat-and-mouse mystery Sleuth (with Laurence Olivier) and the sweeping adventure The Man Who Would Be King (with Sean Connery), but for much of the 1970s and ‘80s, Caine was in the doldrums, appearing in several films that he would later admit he signed up to for the money. He did, however, shine in the much more grounded Educating Rita and the sly comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - not to mention winning an Oscar for a refined turn in Hannah and Her Sisters.

The 1990s began strongly with The Muppet Christmas Carol, a genuinely fresh and cheering take on Ebenezer Scrooge. Another quiet period followed but, having flexed his muscles by scooping another Oscar for The Cider House Rules at the end of that decade, Caine was ready for reinvention in the new millennium as an elder statesman.

That began in earnest with Batman Begins, the most low-key of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy but a rewarding drama in its own right, not least because of Caine’s turn as Batman’s mentor, Alfred. Caine went on to appear in numerous other Nolan movies, but he really put his age and experience to good effect in films like Last Orders, Youth and The Great Escaper - intriguing gems proving that a superstar of the 1960s had still got it, more than half a century later.

Where can I watch Michael Caine movies online?

Here is a guide to the best Michael Caine movies and where you can watch them on streaming services in the U.K. right now.

  • Where to Watch Every BAFTA-winning Movie for 'Best Film'

Where to Watch Every BAFTA-winning Movie for 'Best Film'

In this complete streaming guide, you can find where to watch every BAFTA winner for Best Film. This includes where to stream every winner from 1946 until present day on popular streaming services in the United Kingdom.

William Wyler’s 1946 drama The Best Years of Our Lives, an emotional epic about servicemen returning home from the Second World War, swept the board at the Oscars and is an American standard, but it holds a special place in British film history too. It was the big winner at the very first British Academy Film Awards, taking home the prize for the awkwardly named “Best Film From Any Source” - or as it’s now known, Best Film at the BAFTA Film Awards.

The most recent entry on the list is the stunning German war drama All Quiet on the Western Front. In between are decades of notable movies, some of them classics, some of them just acclaimed films of their era, all of them worth checking out and ticking off.

As the years have gone on, the BAFTAs have been compared more and more to their very slightly more prestigious American equivalent, but the British awards have their own identity, rarely trying to second-guess who will grab the Oscar statues. All Quiet is part of a run of recent BAFTA Best Film winners, for instance, that don’t match the Oscar for Best Picture: The Power of the Dog, 1917, Roma, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, La La Land, The Revenant and Boyhood all won the top British prize before missing out across the pond, with only Nomadland breaking the sequence by winning both big gongs in 2020.

Looking further into film history, BAFTA has revealed its tastes by sticking with a few favourites. Martin Scorsese had to wait until 2006 to win his first Best Picture with The Departed - that movie didn’t win Best Film at the BAFTAs, but Marty couldn’t be too annoyed with the Brits because he’d won as far back as 1975 with Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, then again in 1990 for Goodfellas, then yet again in 2004 for The Aviator.

By 2006, BAFTA had given Scorsese enough gongs and was happy to stick up for a filigree British film like The Queen instead. Naturally, the ceremony favours the best of British, giving its top prize to breakout 1990s comedy hits such as Four Weddings and a Funeral and The Full Monty, neither of which were serious Best Picture contenders. BAFTA also loves a good, very English period drama based on a novel, rewarding A Room with a View, Atonement, Howard’s End and Sense and Sensibility.

BAFTA may not always get it right when it comes to films posterity thinks are worth remembering - even cineastes don’t talk much now about The Sound Barrier or Lacombe, Lucien. But its early Best Film roll call is a mine of gems, from Bicycle Thieves and La Ronde to Chariots of Fire and Gandhi. • Where to Stream The Cornetto Trilogy Online – Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz & The World's End

Where to Stream The Cornetto Trilogy Online – Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz & The World's End

Are you looking to watch the Cornetto trilogy online? This guide will show you where to watch every movie in Edgar Wright's iconic comedy film series on popular streaming services in the United Kingdom.

Back in 2004, Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright decided to turn their small-screen success into a string of action-packed feature film collaborations. The duo first worked together on Wright’s directorial debut series, Asylum, before reuniting for Spaced, which Pegg co-wrote and starred in with Nick Frost. In one episode of the two-season show, Pegg’s character Tim had a hallucination about a zombie apocalypse. This became the inspiration for the first film in the iconic Cornetto trilogy.

Shaun of the Dead – Strawberry

Shaun of the Dead follows Simon Pegg as Shaun, a regular salesman who has to save his loved ones when a zombie outbreak lands in London. With a humble budget of $6 million, the film, fronted by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, went on to critical acclaim and gained a cult following and grossed $38.7 million at the box office. Channel 4 went on to rank it third on a list of 50 Greatest Comedy Films of All Time.

    Hot Fuzz – Classico

Three years later, the trio reunited in the buddy cop movie, Hot Fuzz, which was a satirical take on over 100 well-known action films. It followed London police sergeant Nicholas Angel as he was relocated to a supposedly sleepy village of Sandford, where he struggled to adjust to the slow pace of the small-town community. However, as the bodies piled up, Nicholas and his new buddy Danny become suspicious that this award-winning idyllic village is a front for something far more sinister.

Hot Fuzz received widespread praise for its visual effects and action sequences and went onto gross over $80 million at the box office on its $12 million budget, making it the most financially successful film in the trilogy.

    The World's End – Mint

The final film, The World’s End, was released in 2013, and saw a group of five friends return to their hometown to complete a pub crawl on the same night as an alien invasion occurs. Once again, it opened to positive reviews from critics and secured $46 million at the worldwide box office on a budget of $20 million. Regular cast members Pegg and Frost returned alongside Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine with Rosamund Pike and Pierce Brosnan.

You may be wondering why Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End are collectively known as the Cornetto Trilogy, or 'Three Flavours Cornetto'. Though these three films are not connected in storyline, nor do they feature the same characters or fictional locations, fans spotted that each film features a different flavour of Cornetto.

In Shaun of the Dead, Ed tucks into a strawberry Cornetto for a hangover cure, which actually led to the cast being given free ice creams by the brand for the after party. After this donation, the trio decided to feature another Cornetto in Hot Fuzz, this time the classic blue Cornetto, but sadly they didn’t get any more freebies. Edgar Wright joked when promoting Hot Fuzz that the Cornettos represent the trilogy like Krzysztof Kieslowski’s Three Colors film trilogy (Blue, White, and Red). After this Easter egg was pointed out, a mint chocolate chip Cornetto wrapper is seen at the end of The World’s End.

After all this talk of ice cream and these comedies, it’s time to grab a Cornetto and dive into the cult classic Cornetto trilogy. Here’s where to stream all three movies online in chronological order.

Filmmaker and actor Edgar Wright is renowned for his contribution to British action, comedy and satire films. With titles such as Hot Fuzz, Baby Driver and Last Night in Soho in his repertoire, read on to discover where to stream every Edgar Wright movie in chronological order.

The young filmmaker started out with a string of independent short films, before he went on to write and direct his first feature, A Fistful of Fingers in 1995. Soon after this western comedy, Wright first worked with his frequent collaborators Simon Pegg and Nick Frost when he directed their two-season sitcom Spaced.

This partnership led to the creation of three action comedy movies, which have been affectionately dubbed “the Cornetto trilogy” by its cult fan following. Wright co-wrote the zombie comedy, Shaun of the Dead, with Pegg in 2004, before they reunited for the buddy cop comedy, Hot Fuzz in 2007 and the sci-fi film The World’s End in 2013. Alongside Pegg and Frost, the ensemble cast always featured prominent British stars such as Olivia Coleman, Martin Freeman, Bill Nighy, Jim Broadbent and Penelope Wilton.

All three satirical movies garnered widespread critical and commercial success, but it was the fast-paced, small-town police comedy, Hot Fuzz, that grossed the most at the box office, reaching $80 million on a $12 million budget.

Outside of this beloved trilogy, Wright has co-written and directed family-friendly titles such as Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and The Adventures of Tintin, which he co-wrote with Sherlock co-creator Steven Moffat and Joe Cornish for Steven Spielberg. Back in 2015, the acclaimed auteur also co-wrote the original screenplay for Marvel’s Ant-Man with Joe Cornish, which stars Paul Rudd in the titular role.

Since then, Wright has released other gripping action epics such as the immensely popular Baby Driver which was nominated for three Academy Awards, a Golden Globe and two BAFTAs. The Ansel Elgort-fronted film went on to dominate the box office on its humble budget of $34 million to gross over $226 million worldwide.

Wright’s most recent project is the psychological horror film, Last Night in Soho featuring Anya Taylor-Joy, Matt Smith and Terence Stamp. Unfortunately, it was released straight after the Covid-19 pandemic, when there were restrictions in place on cinema-goers which ultimately affected the box office revenue. However, it received positive reviews from critics and was nominated for two BAFTAs for Outstanding British Film and Best Sound.

With a plethora of action-packed films to choose from, here is every Edgar Wright movie in chronological order and where to stream them.

Pegg rose to prominence in the UK as the co-creator of the sitcom, Spaced, which was directed by Wright and starred his other frequent on-screen collaborator, Nick Frost. This series gave Wright and Pegg the inspiration for the first film in the cult Cornetto trilogy, Shaun of the Dead, where London salesman Shaun is caught in a zombie apocalypse.

Despite its small budget of $6 million, the film went on to receive two BAFTA nominations and gross $38.7 million at the box office. Alongside Pegg and Frost, it starred other well-known British actors such as Bill Nighy, Penelope Wilton and Lucy Davis. Though Shaun of the Dead might have the largest cult following, its sequel, Hot Fuzz, became the highest grossing film out of the trilogy.

The buddy cop action comedy sees Frost and Pegg team up again with a host of familiar faces as other police officers such as Jim Broadbent, Olivia Coleman, Bill Bailey and Rafe Spall. On its $12 million budget, it went onto gross $80 million worldwide and has been named one of the greatest films of the 21st century by Empire.

Though the final installment in the Cornetto trilogy, The World’s End, didn’t perform as well at the box office (reaching $46 million on a $20 million budget) the sci-fi comedy consolidated these three films as British comedy cult classics.

In between these installments, Pegg landed roles in major Hollywood franchises including the Tom Cruise-led action epic Mission: Impossible as the IMF’s Benji Dunn. After his debut Mission: Impossible III, Pegg remained a permanent fixture in the cast alongside Cruise, Ving Rhames and Rebecca Ferguson. It’s difficult to distinguish Pegg’s best role due to his varied dramatic and comedic roles. From big-budget blockbusters to small-screen cult series, Henry Cavill has played an integral role in some of the biggest film and TV franchises. Keep reading on to discover some of Cavill’s best performances and a guide on where to stream them.

Prior to his time as a Hollywood leading man, the British actor started out in British TV series and small budget movies including his breakout role in the historical adventure film The Count of Monte Cristo. Later, this led to a recurring role in the steamy period drama, The Tudors, before he landed his first lead action hero in 2011’s Immortals as Theseus.

While these early roles caught viewers’ and critics' attention to Cavill’s talent, his career trajectory skyrocketed when the actor landed the role of a lifetime as Superman in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) in 2013.

Cavill’s first outing in the iconic blue and red super suit in Man of Steel soared to success at the box office, grossing $668 million on a $225 million budget. After this strong debut, Cavill went on to reprise his role as the Kryptonian in the superhero crossover movies, Zack Snyder’s Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

Comic book fans were hopeful that Cavill would return as the Daily Planet reporter by day, hero by night, after his cameo in mid-credit scenes in The Flash and Black Adam. However, it has been confirmed that the actor will no longer reprise his role in the franchise as the new co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran steer the universe in a fresh new direction.

The actor has also cult classic roles including the infamous detective Sherlock Holmes in Netflix’s Enola Holmes (and its sequel), as the brother to the young budding crime solver. However, undeniably it’s Cavill’s time as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher that has proved to be his best role to date.

For three series, Cavill had been at the forefront of the medieval fantasy series and poured all of his adoration and knowledge of the books into his performance. Though the actor reached the end of his time in this role, passing the mantle over to Hunger Games’ star Liam Hemsworth, his dedication and passion for this franchise remains an integral part of the series’ success on the platform.

Cavill has also appeared in espionage thrillers such as The Man From U.N.C.L.E and the action-packed smash hit, Mission: Impossible – Fallout. The actor is set to revisit this genre in his upcoming adaptation of Argylle, in which he makes up part of the star-studded cast including Bryce Dallas Howard, Dua Lipa and Samuel L Jackson.
