The first LEGO Movie was released in 2014 and introduced us to Emmet Brickowski (Chris Pratt), a lovable but somewhat clueless construction worker who finds himself at the center of a plot to save the world. Falsely identified by the badass Master Builder Wyldstyle aka Lucy (Elizabeth Banks) as a powerful being called The Special, it’s down to those two and a host of other random characters, including Batman (Will Arnett), to stop Lord Business’ (Will Ferrell) evil plan from being carried out.
After the roaring success of The LEGO Movie, Warner Bros. set about creating two spin-off films: The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie, both of which were released in 2017 and focused on the side characters’ stories.
The sequel to the LEGO Movie came out in 2019, and featured the same characters from the first film who now find themselves in ‘Apocalypseburg’, a post-apocalyptic city decimated by attacks from the Duplo aliens. Plans for a third LEGO Movie are underway (now at Universal Studios), but the production has yet to be confirmed.
