Box Office Successes & Film Flops

M. Night Shyamalan is a filmmaker famous for his storytelling combining psychological thriller and supernatural drama. He is best known for his 1999 movie The Sixth Sense. A critical and commercial success, The Sixth Sense was nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Director and Best Picture.

Since then, Shyamalan has had box office success with Signs, Split, Knock At The Cabin and Trap. Shyamalan is known for his character-driven storylines and shocking twist endings, which are a hallmark characteristic of his movies.

In addition to Shyamalan’s career highs, he was criticised for his movies The Happening (2008) and The Last Airbender (2010). This was due to disappointing writing and execution. He found success once again with his 2015 film The Visit, which returned back to his roots of suspenseful storytelling in the mystery and horror genre.

There are a few actors who M. Night Shyamalan has worked with on multiple occasions. Bruce Willis starred in both The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. Unbreakable also starred Samuel L. Jackson, who reprised his role of Elijah Price / Mr. Glass in Glass. Both James McAvoy and Joaquin Phoenix have also starred in multiple M. Night Shyamalan movies.
