Synopsis
Elio goes on a intergalactic adventure after he is mistaken as Earth’s ambassador
When 11-year-old Elio is mistaken for an ambassador for Earth by a group of aliens, he finds himself taken across the galaxy on a whirlwind adventure.

What is Pixar's Elio about?
Elio is an upcoming animated adventure film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and Disney about a young boy who is abducted by aliens when they mistake him for an ambassador to Earth. The film is directed by Pixar animator and writer Adrian Molina, who is known for his work on Monsters University, Toy Story 3, and Coco. Elio is the 28th film created by Pixar. Mary Alice Drumm and Pete Doctor produce.
Who stars in Pixar's Elio?
Yonas Kibreab stars as the titular Elio, after previously appearing in Netflix’s Sweet Tooth, and the Disney’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series. He is joined by Ugly Betty’s America Ferrera, who portrays Elio’s mother, Olga Solis. Zoe Saldaña also joins as the voice of Elio's aunt.
Was Pixar's Elio delayed?
Yes, due to the SAG-AFTRA strike in 2023, Elio's release was delayed by a year. Originally it was meant to be released in theatres on March 1, 2024 but was delayed until June 13, 2025.
