There is a fictional textbook mentioned in the Harry Potter books called ‘Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them’, written by magizoologist Newt Scamander. Author J. K. Rowling expanded on this original story, writing the screenplay for three Fantastic Beasts blockbuster movies, which form part of the same Wizarding World as Harry Potter.
The Fantastic Beasts franchise, set in the 1920s and 1930s, centres around magizoologist Newt Scamander. The story also explores Albus Dumbledore’s early life, and his feud with Gellert Grindelwald.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince director David Yates and producer David Heyman returned for all three of the Fantastic Beasts films. Steve Kloves, who wrote the screenplay for seven of the eight Harry Potter movies, co-wrote the screenplay with Rowling for the third Fantastic Beasts movie titled Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.

Eddie Redmayne stars in the Fantastic Beasts series as Newt Scamander, with Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald and Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore. The franchise also features Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Alison Sudol as Queenie, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, Jon Voight as Henry Shaw Sr., Colin Farrell as Percival Graves, Ezra Miller as Credence Barebone and Ron Perlman as the voice of Gnarlek.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016)
The first film in the series, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, introduces Newt Scamander, a magizoologist who arrives in New York City in 1926. When some of the magical creatures escape from Newt’s suitcase, he partners with an American witch called Tina Goldstein, her sister Queenie and a No-Maj (non-magical person named Jacob Kowalski to find them. Meanwhile, a dark force is taking over the city, with powerful wizard Gellert Grindelwald behind the attack.

In Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald, Gellert Grindelwald is transferred to Europe to stand trial, but soon escapes and recruits followers for his army. In order to combat his rise to power, Albus Dumbledore enlists the help of Newt to put a stop to Grindelwald’s plans.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore (2022)
Grindelwald’s influence continues to grow in the third fantastic beasts film, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. Newt and Dumbledore, along with their allies, must stop their enemy from taking control of the Wizarding World. The movie dives into Dumbledore and Grindelwald’s complicated history, and the events in their relationship which have led to present tensions.
