What was thought to be folklore and fairy tale is suddenly alive and real. Within the Dovre mountains in central Norway, an unstoppable and colossal figure is awakening. A team of explorers and scientists join forces to go in search of the mythic creature that is slowly approaching the capital of the country. What can four people do against an unimaginable foe who is set upon destruction on an ancient mission? The primeval troll has stirred and all the group has to go on is the folk rhyme: ‘Made of earth and stones. A snowclad heart and icy bones. From darkness, they rose. In sunlight, they froze.’
Troll is a fantasy action movie produced by Netflix and directed by Norwegian filmmaker Roar Uthaug. The director is known for helming the 2018 Tomb Raider movie alongside a few smaller productions such as The Wave and Escape. Jallo Faber is a cinematographer who has worked on a host of big-budget Hollywood movies in the camera department.
Taking the lead roles are Ine Marie Wilmann, Kim Falck, Mads Sjogard Pettersen, and Gard B. Eidsvold. The group of four plays the explorers and scientists at the heart of the story.
