Maestro is a biographical drama film produced by Amblin Entertainment and Sikelia Productions. The film is a biopic based on the life of legendary 20th century composer Leonard Bernstein, and his relationship with his wife, Felicia Montealegre. Bernstein is best known as the composer of the hit songs featured in the musical West Side Story. The film is produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, among others, and is directed, written, and produced by Bradley Cooper. Josh Singer, who also wrote Spotlight, co-writes the script alongside Cooper.
Cooper additionally stars as the titular maestro, Bernstein, and his wife Felicia is portrayed by Carey Mulligan. They are joined by Matt Bomer as clarinettist David Oppenheim, Michael Urie as choreographer Jerome Robbins, and Sarah Silverman as one of Leonard’s sisters, Shirley Bernstein. Other cast members include Maya Hawke, Gideon Glick, Sam Nivola, Miriam Shor, and Alexa Swinton.
