Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld swing into action in the highly anticipated Spider-Verse sequel
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is an animated superhero film co-directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson for Sony Pictures. It is the sequel to 2018’s successful hit Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film becoming the first non-Disney/Pixar film to do so since Rango in 2011. Phil Lord crafted the screenplay for Across the Spider-Verse alongside his creative partner, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham. Lord is the only returning writer from the first film while music composer Daniel Pemberton also returned to score the sequel.
Shameik Moore reprises his role as Miles Morales in this animated adaptation of the popular Spider-Man character. Alongside him are Oscar Isaac and Jake Johnson who each play alternate versions of Spider-Man. Isaac's Spider-Man is from the future while Johnson's is a mentor to Miles from a different dimension. Hailee Steinfeld returns as Gwen Stacy who is known as Spider-Woman in her dimension. Issa Rae joins the cast as Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman, a member of the Spider-Force and pregnant Spider-Woman of her own respective universe, alongside Academy Award winner Daniel Kaluuya who portrays Hobart Brown/Spider-Punk, a British punk-rock Spider-Man from his respective universe presently under a totalitarian regime. Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Karan Soni, Lauren Vélez, Greta Lee, Jorma Taccone, Rachel Dratch and Shea Whigham round out the cast.
