Synopsis
Ancient magic is under threat from an evil commercial power
At J.W. Wells & Co new interns Paul Carpenter and Sophie Pettingel are learning about ancient magic. The prodigious pair are working under their compelling CEO, Humphrey Wells, and middle manager Dennis Tanner who are bringing a contemporary corporate style to the traditional mystic arts. As they settle into their new work environment, Paul and Sophie uncover the truth about their new employers and the true agenda of their work.

The first book in the J.W. Wells & Co. series gets a big-screen adaptation
The Portable Door is a supernatural mystery movie based on the seven-book series of the same name written by Tom Holt. It is produced by The Jim Henson Company and Story Bridge Films. The Portable Door is directed by Jeffrey Walker and written by Leon Ford. Australian musician, Benjamin Speed handles the score.
The Portable Door stars two-time Academy Award-winning actor Christoph Waltz as Humphrey Wells. He is joined by the acclaimed actor, Sam Neil who is known for his roles in the Jurassic Park movies as well as the hit television show Peaky Blinders. Patrick Gibson and Sophie Wilde lead the movie playing Paul Carpenter and Sophie Pettingel respectively, the two interns at the heart of the story. Miranda Otto, Rachel House, Jessica De Gouw, and Chris Pang round out the cast. The Portable Door was released on MGM+ on April 8th, 2023.
