What to know

Cocaine Bear is a dark comedy thriller movie directed by Elizabeth Banks and written by Jimmy Warden. The movie is produced by Universal Pictures. The film is based on the shocking true story of an American black bear who swallowed a duffel bag full of cocaine in 1985. The illicit drug fell out of a plane flying overhead. And it wasn't just any plane: the pilot was Andrew C. Thornton, a former narcotics agent turned smuggler.

The all-star cast includes Keri Russell as Colette Matthews, O'Shea Jackson Jr. as Howard, and Ray Liotta in the role of Dentwood. Cocaine Bear is one of the last films to feature Ray Liotta following his death in May 2022. Cocaine Bear was released in cinemas on February 24, 2023.
