Broker is a South Korean drama film produced by Zip Cinema. Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda both directed and wrote the screenplay. The idea for Broker came to Kore-eda while he researched Japan’s adoption system for one of his previous movies, Like Father, Like Son. The stark similarities between the process of adoption between Japan and South Korea so strongly struck Kore-eda, he felt compelled to create a story on it.
