Avatar 5 is an upcoming science fiction feature film by 20th Century Studios. This is the fifth installment in the Avatar franchise. Avatar 5 is written and directed by James Cameron. Additional screenwriting for the movie is handled by Shane Salerno.
Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña will return to play members of the Na’vi Tribe, Jake and Neytiri. Stephen Lang is back in the role of Colonel Miles Quaritch. And Giovanni Ribisi is back to play Parker Selfridge. Dileep Rao stars as Dr. Max Patel. Matt Ferald plays Corporal Lyle Wainfleet. Sigourney Weaver stars as Kiri while Kate Winslet plays the role of Ronal. Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Jemaine Clement, Britain Dalton, Jack Champion, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Bailey Bass, Filip Geljo, and Duane Evans Jr. all also star in the movie.
Michelle Yeoh, Oona Chaplin, and David Thewlis all star in Avatar 5 after making their franchise debut in the third movie. Yeoh plays Dr. Karina Mogue; Chaplin plays Varang; and Thewlis stars as Peylak.
Film producer Jon Landau stated that parts of Avatar 5 will take place on Earth. Landau is a producer of the Avatar franchise alongside James Cameron.
Filmmaker James Cameron suggested that the fifth film, possibly titled Avatar: The Quest for Eywa, may not be the last. While it is the last Avatar movie confirmed and in production, Cameron stated that a sixth and seventh movie could happen if there was demand for it. He also confirmed that he would pass directing duties on to somebody else for any further sequels.
