Moana 2 is the second instalment in Disney’s animated Moana film franchise. The first film was released in 2016 and quickly became a modern Disney classic, introducing an all new Disney Princess in Moana. David G Derrick Jr makes his directorial debut with Moana 2, after previously working as an animation and storyboard artist on the first Moana and films like How to Train Your Dragon, 2019’s The Lion King, and Encanto. Walt Disney Animation Studios CCO Jennifer Lee returns to executive produce.
Auli'i Cravalho will return as the voice of Moana in the sequel, as does Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as the demi-god Maui. Other returning cast members include Rachel House as Tala, Moana’s spiritual godmother, Temuera Morrison as Chief Tui, Jemaine Clement as the crab Tamatoa, and Nicole Scherzinger as Sina, Moana’s mother, and Alan Tudyk as Heihei the rooster.
