The sixth Scream entry marks the first one without lead Neve Campbell
Scream 6 is a horror-slasher film that is the sixth film in the franchise and works as a direct sequel to 2022’s Scream. The film is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and is written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Both duos helmed the previous 2022 entry with directing and writing duties respectively. Scream franchise creator and original writer Kevin Williamson returns as an executive producer.
The film marks the first entry in the franchise, beginning with 1996’s Scream, where lead star Neve Campbell does not appear. The only other veteran cast members who have appeared in every installment since 1996 are Roger L. Jackson who voices Ghostface and Courteney Cox who portrays Gale Weathers.
Scream 6 stars Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega returning to their roles as sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter respectively. Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding also return as twins Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin respectively. After having not acted in a film since 2016, Hayden Panettiere stars as Kirby Reed, survivor of the events from 2011’s Scream 4. Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving round out the cast.
