Fifth Evil Dead entry features Sam Raimi serving as an executive producer.
Evil Dead Rise is a supernatural horror film written and directed by Lee Cronin for Warner Bros. Pictures. It is based on the beloved Evil Dead franchise and is the fifth installment of the film series. Franchise creator Sam Raimi and original Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell are executive producers on the film while original franchise producer Rob Tapert also produces this entry.
Raimi specifically chose Cronin, best known for his 2019 horror film The Hole in the Ground, to write and direct the film. Evil Dead Rise expands on the mythology of the original film and also features references to the franchise’s past. Stephen McKeon scores the film after having worked with Cronin previously on The Hole in the Ground. Ash vs Evil Dead alums Dave Garbett and Bryan Shaw are credited in the film as well handling cinematography and editing duties respectively.
Alyssa Sutherland portrays the lead role of single mom Ellie who is tasked with raising three children in a small apartment. Lily Sullivan plays Ellie’s estranged sister, Beth. Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Neil Fisher, Mia Challis, Tai Wano, Jayden Daniels and Billy Reynolds-McCarthy round out the cast.
