In a realm where magic holds supreme significance, Asta, a young boy devoid of any magical abilities since birth, sets his sights on attaining the prestigious title of the Wizard King. His goal is to triumph over formidable challenges, demonstrate his strength and uphold the promises made to his companions.
Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King is a Japanese anime film directed by Ayataka Tanemura for Netflix. It is based on Yūki Tabata’s manga series of the same name which was originally published in 2015. Tanemura previously directed a number of episodes of the Black Clover anime TV series, however the film does not directly adapt narratives from the original manga; instead, it seamlessly integrates into the overall universe of Black Clover. Pierrot is the production company behind Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King after previously helming a number of popular anime TV shows including Naruto, Bleach, Tokyo Ghoul and the Black Clover series, just to name a few. Johnny Onda and Ai Orii handle the screenplay of the film while original author Tabata receives a “story by” credit.
