Transformers: Rise of the Beasts resets the franchise and starts a whole new trilogy
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is a sci-fi action film produced by Paramount Pictures. Transformers 7 is directed by Steven Caple Jr, and the screenplay is written by Joby Harold, with edits and rewrites by Darnell Metayer, Josh Peters, Erich Hoeber and Jon Hoeber. Previous director Michael Bay returns as a producer.
Rise of the Beasts is the seventh live-action film in the Transformers franchise. The plot is loosely based on the popular Beast Wars: Transformers storyline from the animated series, which features the Maximals and the Predacons. The Maximals are descendants of the Autobots and transform into mammals. The Predacons are descendants of the Decepticons and transform into reptilian creatures. However, Rise of the Beast’s main villains — the Terrorcons, captained by Scourge — do not appear in the original cartoon series. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts resets the Transformers franchise, acting as the first instalment in a new trilogy. However, the new storyline does not discount the previous Transformers films.
Peter Cullen once again returns to voice the iconic leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime. Ron Perlman joins the cast as the voice of the Maximals’ leader, Optimus Primal. Peter Dinklage takes on the role of the film’s villain, the Terrorcons’ leader, Scourge. Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback play the two humans at the centre of the story, Noah and Elena. Michelle Yeoh and Pete Davidson also feature in Rise of the Beasts as Airazor and Mirage, respectively.
