The Nightingale is an upcoming historical drama film directed by Mélanie Laurent. It is based on Kristin Hannah’s novel of the same name which was originally published in 2015. Laurent is a talented actress-director having appeared in such films as Inglorious Basterds and Beginners. Her directorial efforts include the 2014 coming-of-age French drama, Breathe, along with The Mad Women’s Ball in 2021. The Woman King screenwriter Dana Stevens handles the screenplay for The Nightingale.
