Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler lead Hunger Games prequel alongside Viola Davis, Peter Dinklage and Hunter Schafer
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is a dystopian-action drama film directed by Francis Lawrence for Lionsgate. Michael Arndt and Michael Lesslie wrote the screenplay for the film which is based on Suzanne Collins' 2020 novel of the same name. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is the fifth entry in the Hunger Games film franchise and is a prequel to the original 2012 film. Francis Lawrence previously directed every entry of The Hunger Games except the first one which Gary Ross helmed. Lawrence produced the prequel along with the original producer of all the films, Nina Jacobson, and Brad Simpson.
Tom Blyth stars as Coriolanus "Coryo" Snow who was originally played by Donald Sutherland in the film. Rachel Zegler joins him as Lucy Gray Baird, the female tribute who grows a bond with Coriolanus. The rest of the cast includes Josh Andrés Rivera as Sejanus Plinth, Hunter Schafer as Tigris Snow, Jason Schwartzman as Lucretius "Lucky" Flickerman, Peter Dinklage as Casca Highbottom, Academy Award winner Viola Davis as Dr. Volumnia Gaul, Burn Gorman as Commander Hoff, Fionnula Flanagan as Grandma'am and Ashley Liao as Clemensia Dovecote.
