Dave Filoni brings Star Wars-favorite Ahsoka Tan into the live-action universe

Ahsoka Season 1 is a science fiction live-action limited series produced by Lucasfilm for Disney+. The series is developed by veteran Star Wars director and producer Dave Filoni alongside acclaimed filmmaker Jon Favreau. Filoni also serves as the main writer and will direct multiple episodes of the show. The titular character made her first appearance in The Clone Wars and was created by Filoni. Ahsoka is the fifth live-action series in the Star Wars universe and a spin-off from The Mandalorian, with which it shares a timeframe. Ahsoka Season 1 also acts as a continuation of the Dave Filoni-produced show Star Wars: Rebels, with many characters from that show making their live-action debut in Ahsoka. Season 1 of the 8 episode show features a team of directors including Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Greeta Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.

Ahsoka Season 1 sees Rosario Dawson take the lead as the main character, Ahsoka Tano, a former Jedi. She is joined by Natasha Liu Bordizzo who portrays the Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren. Hayden Christensen returns to play Anakin Skywalker and the infamous Darth Vader. Lars Mikkelsen is confirmed to be reprising his Star Wars: Rebels role as Grand Admiral Thrawn, the main villain of the series. Eman Esfandi portrays Ezra Bridger, a trained Jedi who was last seen disappearing off into the galaxy with Thrawn. Genevieve O’Reilley returns as Mon Mothma, having played the character in Andor, Rogue One, and Revenge of the Sith. Dark Jedi and ally to Admiral Thrawn, Baylan Skoll is portrayed by Ray Stevenson. Supporting Skoll is his apprentice Shin Hati played by Ivanna Sakhno. David Tennant returns to voice Huyang, a droid that crafts lightsabers. The wider cast includes Wes Chatham, Diana Lee Inosanto, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Maurice Irvin, Nelson Lee, Hamato Xiono, and Jacqueline Antaramian. Ahsoka Season 1 was released on Disney+ on August 22nd, 2023.
