Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez and Hugh Grant star in this long-awaited live-action adaptation
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is a fantasy action-adventure comedy film. The film is based on the beloved tabletop role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons. Written and directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, this movie is set during the famous Forgotten Realms campaign first created in 1967. Michael Gilio and Chris McKay also have a story credit despite eventually being replaced by Goldstein and Daley. The production of the film has a long and storied history that dates back to early-2013.
After many failed production starts Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves began casting in 2020 with leading-man Chris Pine signing on to the project. Only after his character reveal at Comic-Con 2022 however, was it made clear that he would be playing a Bard, an unlikely choice for the Hollywood heartthrob. Taking up the role of noble Paladin swordsman, is Rege-Jean Page who moves from the small to the silver screen after his breakout television appearances. Michelle Rodriguez is the Barbarian, cast for her long history of portraying fierce and unrelenting fighters. Justice Smith and Sophia Lillis bring the magic as the Sorcerer and the Druid respectively. The surprise casting of Hugh Grant as the Rogue continues his late-stage career choice of taking on more villainous roles. Crucially, some cast members of the D&D web series Critical Role also make a cameo appearance in the film. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was released in cinemas on 31st March, 2023.
