Frank Herbert’s Dune & Children of Dune

Viewers who enjoyed Dune: Prophecy may be interested in prior Dune TV series. The miniseries don’t boast the big budget or sophisticated effects of Dune: Prophecy or the Dune movies, but they boast exemplary performances, and their closeness to the source material makes them must-sees for any Dune fans.

    Game of Thrones

Games of Thrones is a great epic fantasy alternative to Dune: Prophecy. The series spans many storylines across several years as multiple noble families vie for control of the coveted Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms, sparking political strife, war, violence, and drama. Similar to Dune: Prophecy, it’s a show of stunning scale with meticulous world-building, lore-establishing, and a story about feuds, vengeance, and the pursuit of power.

Both Star Wars: Andor and Dune: Prophecy are mature sci-fi series that explore people who operate in a morally gray area and how one person’s trauma, beliefs, and motives can impact the universe's future.

    The Acolyte

Similar to Dune: Prophecy, The Acolyte is a tale of two incredibly powerful sisters, Osha and Mai (Amandla Stenberg). The Snowman

In the 2017 psychological thriller The Snowman, Ferguson plays a detective alongside Michael Fassbender. The two are alerted to a crime by a mysterious letter signed with a childlike drawing of a snowman. But the plot quickly thickens and it becomes unclear who they can trust.

    The Greatest Showman

One of the greatest success stories in Hollywood history, The Greatest Showman started off as a cult classic and slowly turned into a sleeper hit in theaters, ultimately staying in cinemas for almost six months. The musical follows the PT Barnum circus during the 1800s and Ferguson plays Swedish opera singer Jenny Lind.

    Silo

Apple TV+’s hit mystery thriller Silo centers on a society that lives in an underground bunker. But some members of the community begin to wonder why they live in the silo and whether it’s all a conspiracy. But trust me, this show takes twists and turns you won't expect.

    Dune

The spice must flow! The iconic novel series Dune received its biggest film adaption ever in 2021. The story is an epic space opera about dueling factions, warring kingdoms, class struggles, and the galactic dependency on a resource known as “spice”.

    Florence Foster Jenkins

Always off-pitch and riddled with syphilis, opera singer Florence Foster Jenkins is an odd choice for a folk hero, but her deficiencies are ultimately what made the public love her. Doctor Sleep

Doctor Sleep is a sequel to Stephen King’s hit The Shining and follows Dan who is now an adult. Still gifted with the shining ability, Dan finds himself stalked by a cult that feeds off those witch psychic powers. The cult is led by the infamous Rose the Hat (Ferguson).

  • 20 Best Movies and TV Shows Like Silo (And Where To Watch Them)

20 Best Movies and TV Shows Like Silo (And Where To Watch Them)

Apple TV+’s critically acclaimed original series Silo is back for season 2. The show is a unique dystopian sci-fi series with elements of mystery and follows engineer Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson), who lives in a 144-level underground silo with 10,000 other people and must solve the puzzle of her people’s past and present, including whether the outside is inhabitable.

Viewers looking for more dystopian sci-fi/mystery series after Silo season 2 can use our guide to find similar movies and TV shows streaming on platforms like Prime Video, Apple TV+, and more.

    Best TV shows like Silo

    Brave New World

Brave New World follows the residents of New London, whose stability relies on a stringent caste system and predetermined lives and roles for each individual. However, the supposed “utopia” begins to show cracks when John the Savage (Alden Ehrenreich) arrives and introduces its residents to new ideas. In addition to stunning visual effects and dramatic appeal, Brave New World mirrors Silo with its story of New London inhabitants' desire for truth and freedom.

    Counterpart

Counterpart is perfect for viewers looking for a mind-bending sci-fi mystery similar to Silo. The show follows Howard Silk (J. K. Simmons), a man who does seemingly meaningless office work for a spy agency. As his career winds down, he’s startled to realize his agency has been harboring a secret of a parallel universe. Counterpart is among the most underrated sci-fi mystery series with brilliant performances, an ambitious premise, and thrilling twists.

    Dark Matter

Dark Matter is another excellent sci-fi series from Apple TV+. The show sees physicist Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton) forced to travel through a series of alternate realities to return home. Like Silo, it’s a top-notch, mind-bending, and mesmerizing sci-fi series where things are never quite as they seem.

    Fallout

Based on the video game series of the same name, Fallout follows Lucy (Ella Purnell), a girl raised in an underground bunker where society dwells after a nuclear war. However, when violence breaks out in her unit, she’s forced to go to the surface world, where she begins to realize much of what she’s been told of the world is a lie. Fallout boasts a similar premise to Silo but leans more into action and worldbuilding rather than sci-fi.

    Severance

In Severance, Mark Scout (Adam Scott) works for a shadowy company that performs procedures on its employees to give them two separate consciousnesses: one activated at work and one for their personal lives. After the mysterious disappearance of one of his colleagues, Mark sets out to discover what his company truly does. Like Silo, it offers a bold sci-fi premise and slow-burn mystery but also probes additional concepts of memory and the corporate world.

    Best movies like Silo

    Divergent

Divergent is set in a futuristic dystopian Chicago, where society is divided into five factions, each of which values a different attribute. Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley), originally from the selfless faction Abnegation, decides at age 16 to join the brave faction Dauntless, where she begins to explore what it truly means that she boasts attributes of multiple factions. Divergent is an excellent alternative to Silo for viewers looking for a sci-fi dystopian mystery geared toward younger viewers.

    Oblivion

In Oblivion, Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) believes he’s one of the last inhabitants left on Earth, which has been ravaged by an extraterrestrial invasion. While preparing to depart Earth for a space colony, though, he makes a discovery that causes him to question his entire reality. It’s a trippy sci-fi thriller, a gorgeous visual experience, and similar to Silo in that it challenges viewers to determine what’s real and not.

    Snowpiercer

Instead of a silo, the characters in Snowpiercer are stuck on a globe-circling train that carries what remains of humanity after the second ice age. The train is segregated between the elite and non-elite until, one day, Curtis Everett (Chris Evans) stages a revolution to better the living conditions of most underprivileged residents. It’s an action-packed and refreshing take on the human extinction and post-apocalypse genre.

    The Maze Runner

The Maze Runner follows Thomas (Dylan O’Brien), who awakens with amnesia inside a place called The Glade, enclosed by massive stone walls. Along with the other residents, he must try to solve a gigantic maze believed to be the only way to escape. The Maze Runner is an excellent choice for viewers who especially enjoyed the overarching mystery in Silo and the concept of people in a restricted society forced to puzzle out the truth.

    Twelve Monkeys

Like Silo, 12 Monkeys takes place in a world where society lives underground after the earth is rendered unlivable by a virus. Years after society reverted underground, prisoner James Cole (Bruce Willis) is tasked with traveling back in time to find the virus's origin. It boasts a Silo-like premise with a unique time-travel element, bold plot twists, and brilliant performances.

  • How To Watch the Yellowstone TV Shows in Order

How To Watch the Yellowstone TV Shows in Order

After almost a two-year wait, the last half of Yellowstone season 5 is here, marking the end of the critically acclaimed neo-Western series. Although the original series is wrapping up, Yellowstone will live on as the show has become a full-fledged franchise with numerous spinoff series. Those interested in catching up with the Yellowstone franchise can use our guide to find out how to stream the shows in chronological and release date order.

Taylor Sheridan and John Linson created Yellowstone in 2018. The series follows rancher John Dutton III (Kevin Costner) and his family, who own the largest ranch in Montana. Running the Dutton Yellowstone ranch isn’t easy as John struggles with complicated family dynamics, antics from corrupt land developers, and conflicts with bordering Indian reservations. Yellowstone earned critical acclaim for its performances, beautiful setting, and unique blend of a family drama and modern-day Western tale.

Yellowstone establishes John as a sixth-generation Dutton, meaning there is plenty of Dutton family history to delve into. As a result, the show already boasts two prequels that focus on older generations of the Dutton family. The first prequel was the miniseries 1883, which sees James Dillar Dutton (Tim McGraw), Margaret Dutton (Faith Hill), and their children join a wagon expedition led by Shea Brennan (Sam Elliott) and head to Montana post-Civil War. It earned praise for returning to the origins of the Dutton family ranch and offering viewers a true Western.

The second prequel is 1923, which premiered in 2022. As the title suggests, the show takes place in 1923. It follows James’ older brother, Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford), and his wife, Cara Dutton (Helen Mirren), as they navigate Montana through the Prohibition and Great Depression while raising two of their nephews as their own. With powerful performances from Ford and Mirren and an interesting blend of family drama and history, 1923 secured a season 2 renewal.

A third prequel, 1944, is in development, although cast and plot details remain under wraps. Meanwhile, the first sequel series to Yellowstone is also in development. Initially titled 2024, the sequel series has been retitled The Madison. It will star Michelle Pfeiffer as Stacy Clyburn, a woman who moves with her family to Montana after losing her husband.

One more Yellowstone spinoff series is in development: 6666. The title appears to refer to the 6666 Ranch featured in Yellowstone. If set in the modern day, many expect the series will follow Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White), who left the Yellowstone ranch to work at 6666 in Texas. However, no cast or plot details have been confirmed.

How to watch the Yellowstone shows in order

It is recommended that viewers watch the series in release date order, starting with the original show. However, viewers can also watch the series in chronological order. So, one would watch the prequels before Yellowstone, followed by The Madison. The only show that doesn’t fit into the chronological order is 6666 since it’s unclear when it takes place. The chronological order for the Yellowstone shows is as follows:

    • 1883
    • 1923
    • 1944
    • Yellowstone
    • The Madison

20 Best Shows and Movies like Netflix's Arcane (and Where to Watch Them)

This guide will show you 20 awesome TV series and movies that are perfect for fans of Netflix’s animated series Arcane thanks to their similar stories, animation styles, and more. Find out where to watch them on streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, Peacock, and more.

Netflix’s Emmy-winning animated series Arcane is set in the League of Legends universe and has become a hit with not just gamers, but viewers as a whole. The show is loaded with action and drama, and takes place in two very different cities – the glitzy metropolis of Piltover and the gritty undercity of Zaun. Leading the series are sisters Vi and Jinx, whose lives took radically different paths…but in the show, they converge once more. Check out our guide below to discover the best shows and movies like Arcane that are streaming online right now.

Movies & Shows Like Arcane About Class Struggles

    Elysium

One of Arcane’s most prominent themes is the battle between the haves and have-nots in the cities of Piltover and Zaun. Another great sci-fi tale about class struggle is the film Elysium. In the movie, the rich and powerful live aboard a space station called Elysium, while the poor are forced to suffer on the barren, diseased remnants of Earth. But a group of rebels fight for equality.

    Snowpiercer

Another great sci-fi film about class struggle is Snowpiercer. The movie is set in a dystopian future where the last remnants of humanity live aboard a giant ever-moving train. But the train is separated by class, with the poor forced to live with nothing in the back, while the rich enjoy life’s finer things up front. But a rebellion brings chaos to the train.

    The Hunger Games

The most famous example of class struggle – with a good dose of action too – is The Hunger Games. In the film series, Panem is broken up into districts, with some being home to the wealthy and powerful, and others being inhabited by the poor working class. To distract the nation from the rampant disparity, the government created a battle royale called the Hunger Games.

    Video Game Adaptations like Arcane

    Twisted Metal

Set in an alternate history, Twisted Metal sees a post-apocalyptic America heavily fractured by crime and greed. The wealthy live safely behind walled cities, while everyone else is forced to scavenge in the barren wastelands. The show offers a good dose of action and social commentary, perfect for Arcane fans.

    Fallout

Another video game adaptation that has lots of action, as well as themes of class struggle and corruption, is Fallout. In the show, a young girl who has spent her entire life in an underground vault must venture to the surface to find her kidnapped father.

    Super Mario Bros.

Unlike the colorful animated 2023 movie, the original 1993 Mario movie takes place in a cyberpunk underground city controlled by corruption. Anyone who loves the undercity of Zaun in Arcane will appreciate this truly unique take on the Nintendo classic.

  • The 25 Most Anticipated Movies of 2025

The 25 Most Anticipated Movies of 2025

There is a very good chance that 2025 could be the biggest box office year in cinema history. Now that the pandemic and the 2023 Hollywood strikes are fully behind us, the film industry kicked into high gear in 2024. That means that 2025 is going to be a great year for audiences. Check out our list below to discover the most anticipated movies coming out next year including titles like Mickey 17, Captain America: Brave New World, Superman, Tron: Ares and more!

2025 Will See Tons of Sequels

The biggest earners of 2025 will likely be the dozens of high-profile sequels hitting theaters – including some very long-awaited sequels like Tron: Ares, which follows up after the events of 2010’s Tron: Legacy, and 28 Years Later, which continues Danny Boyle’s award-winning zombie franchise.

Jurassic Park is also getting a huge sequel next year with Jurassic World Rebirth, starring Scarlett Johansson, and the world’s highest-grossing movie ever, Avatar, will be seeing its own sequel Avatar: Fire & Ash hit theaters at the end of the year. If it earns anything close to the previous two films, it’s on track to become one of the highest-grossing movies of all time.

2025 Also Has a Surprising Number of Remakes

Adding to the long list of sequels, 2025 is going to be loaded with big-budget remakes. Some of the remakes fans can look forward to are the new comedy The Naked Gun, which is going to star Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson, and Wolf Man, which is a retelling of the iconic 1941 Universal horror movie of the same name.

But the biggest remake of 2025 could be Until Dawn. Instead of remaking a proper movie, the film will be an adaptation of the popular cinematic PlayStation game of the same name. The game was a smash hit and led to a spiritual sequel video game called The Quarry, which itself became a massive hit. With such a huge fanbase already out there, the movie is sure to be a success.

2025 Has Lots of Original Movies Too

On top of the sequels and remakes, 2025 is set to have a good number of original films as well. One of the most anticipated (and potentially controversial) is the biopic Michael, which will examine the life and career of Michael Jackson. Michael will be portrayed by his nephew Jaafar Jackson, which has many wondering if the movie will tackle the singer’s controversies, or attempt to whitewash his legacy.

Another original story will be A Minecraft Movie. While it’s technically an adaption, the film’s trailer shows that it is nothing like the games and instead sees a group of humans get transported into the blocky realm, creating its own original story. Also coming to theaters will be the long-delayed sci-fi epic Mickey 17, directed by Oscar-winning Parasite director Bong Joon-ho.

  • 10 Great Movies To Watch if You Liked The Substance

10 Great Movies To Watch if You Liked The Substance

Demi Moore’s comeback film The Substance has caused a stir among audiences since its Cannes debut. Mixing body horror with feminism, the movie tackles the impact of the value society places on women’s youth through grotesque body transformations certain to thrill and disgust the staunchest body horror fans.

Viewers eager for more movies like The Substance can use our guide to find 10 similar body horror, psychological horror, beauty standards, and feminist films available to stream online on platforms like Max, Netflix, and more.

    A Different Man

A Different Man follows Edward Lemuel (Sebastian Stan), who begins to question his decision to cure his neurofibromatosis when he meets another man, Osward (Adam Pearson), who has the same condition but embraces it and gains the success and acceptance Edward craves. Although it doesn’t boast the body horror of The Substance, it thoughtfully tackles similar themes of beauty standards and identity, as well as how far one will go to gain society’s acceptance.

    Black Swan

In the psychological horror film Black Swan, professional ballerina Nina Sayers (Natalie Portman) secures an extremely demanding lead role in the Swan Lake ballet. However, when another dancer, Lily (Mila Kunis), appears to threaten her role, Sayers finds herself cracking under the pressure and beginning to question reality. Like The Substance, Black Swan is a mind-bending horror film that delves into the steep price some women pay for perfection.

    Cuckoo

Cuckoo follows Gretchen (Hunter Schafer), a young woman who moves to the German Alps with her father. She soon finds herself embroiled in a mystery as a hooded woman stalks her, and she experiences disturbing visions and sounds. Like The Substance, Cuckoo is a unique body horror film with a nice dose of feminism. While its plot can be confusing and sometimes forays into sci-fi territory, it’s a satisfying body horror film and a unique allegory for bodily autonomy.

    Death Becomes Her

Death Becomes Her sees two women, Madeline (Meryl Streep) and Helen (Goldie Hawn), whose feud over the same lover leads them to pursue a dangerous quest for youth and immortality. Death Becomes Her strongly parallels The Substance with its story of two women forced to go to great lengths due to society’s refusal to accept their aging. It’s a quirky, campy body horror movie with a biting commentary on society’s attitude towards women.

    Eyes Without a Face

In Eyes Without a Face, Doctor Génessier (Pierre Brasseur) becomes obsessed with performing a successful face transplant on his daughter, Christiane (Édith Scob), who was left disfigured in an automobile accident. The film is an excellent alternative to those seeking something less dark and grotesque than The Substance. However, it still includes some light body horror and thought-provoking themes about the impact of female beauty standards created by the patriarchy.

    Raw

Raw is a coming-of-age body horror movie about a vegetarian, Justine (Garance Marillier), who develops an insatiable craving for human flesh after eating meat for the first time. It’s a unique cannibalistic body horror film that will delight those seeking the shock factor. Like The Substance, though, it’s rich in symbolism and tackles countless feminine themes about loss of innocence and female shame.

    Society

Society is a body horror comedy that follows a teenage boy, Bill Whitney (Billy Warlock), who becomes suspicious that his wealthy family is involved in some gruesome rituals. Similar to The Substance, it’s a top-notch body horror movie that invokes feelings of shock and disgust. However, it also offers some thoughtful commentary on classism and elitism.

    Swallow

Swallow follows Hunter Conrad (Haley Bennett), a woman who develops an insatiable urge to eat non-edible objects to cope with her isolated and oppressed domestic life. This unconventional feminine horror movie uses body horror and pica to convey the impact of sexism, gender roles, and women’s desire for bodily autonomy and self-control.

    The Thing

The Thing is a classic must-see for fans of body horror. The film follows a group of researchers who come across an extraterrestrial humanoid life form that absorbs and imitates other beings. Since its 1982 release, it has gained a cult classic status for its terrifying body horror, nihilistic premise, and commentary on paranoia and fear.

    Uglies

Uglies isn’t a horror film but offers a story centered on beauty standards. In the movie, Tally Youngblood (Joey King) lives in a dystopian society where everyone is forced to undergo an operation at age 16 to make them “perfect.” She soon learns dark truths about her society when she meets a group of rebels who refuse the procedure. Uglies is a perfect alternative to The Substance for viewers looking for something lighter and more upbeat that still seeks to deconstruct beauty standards.

  • The 16 Best Frankenstein Movies Ever (and Where to Watch Them)

The 16 Best Frankenstein Movies Ever (and Where to Watch Them)

Mary Shelley shocked the world in 1818 with her novel Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus. The story centered around Victor Frankenstein, who uses body parts to create a living creature. But unsure of what to do or how to live, Frankenstein’s monster finds himself in trouble. Since then, Frankenstein’s monster has taken on a life of his own – most notably being known simply as Frankenstein – and taking on the green appearance with bolts in his neck.

Check out our guide below to find out where you can watch the best Frankenstein movies online.

A vast majority of Frankenstein movies came out in the earliest days of Hollywood. In fact, the first Frankenstein film premiered back in 1910 before movies even had sound. But the most iconic film was the 1931 Frankenstein film, which became a smash hit and served as one of the earliest examples of a popular horror movie. After that, Frankenstein received tons of sequels and spin-offs during the “Golden Age of Hollywood” including movies like Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man and Bride of Frankenstein

But Frankenstein has also had some hilarious adaptations too, most notably Young Frankenstein. Starring Gene Wilder and directed by Mel Brooks, this hilarious movie sees the grandson of Victor Frankenstein attempt to make his own waves in the scientific community… resulting in some hilariously awful shenanigans. Another funny take on Frankenstein is Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. In the movie, the iconic comedy duo encounter the horror legend. Basically, it’s a horror version of The Three Stooges, making it a great watch.

There’s also been some more modern adaptations of the story too, most notably Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, which went back to the actual novel and told its story instead of using Frankenstein as a villain. Even more recent was Victor Frankenstein, where James McAvoy plays Dr. Frankenstein and Daniel Radcliffe plays his assistant Igor. Guillermo del Toro's upcoming Frankenstein adaptation is set to release in 2025 with an all-star cast including Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi and Mia Goth.

  • How To Watch Every Poltergeist Movie and TV Show in Order

How To Watch Every Poltergeist Movie and TV Show in Order

Poltergeist is a celebrated classic in the horror genre praised for its terrifying special effects and entwining of a haunted house tale with the touching story of a close-knit family. In 2023, Amazon MGM Studios announced it was developing a new Poltergeist series, marking the first return to the franchise in nearly a decade. Viewers wishing to get acquainted with the franchise before the new series can use our guide to find out how to watch the Poltergeist films and TV series in order.

The 1982 original movie was developed from a story by Steven Spielberg, who also co-wrote the script. It follows the Freelings, a Californian family who are perplexed when their youngest daughter, Carol Ann (Heather O’Rourke), begins inexplicably communicating with the TV static and ominously informs her family, “They’re here.” Her parents, Steven (Craig T. Nelson) and Diana (JoBeth Williams), and sisters soon find themselves terrorized by poltergeists who seek to kidnap Carol Anne.

Poltergeist was a critical and commercial success. Critics praised O’Rourke’s incredible performance, the movie’s frightening premise and effects, and the ambitious story of a family forced to prove their love when faced with malevolent poltergeists. To this day, it’s considered one of the greatest horror movies ever made.

In 1986, a direct sequel, Poltergeist II: The Other Side, premiered. Set one year after the first film's events, the sequel sees the return of the Freeling family and further explores the main antagonist, The Beast, establishing he is the vengeful spirit of a former preacher and cult leader, Henry Kane, who seeks to claim Carol Anne. Desperate to save their daughter, the family turns to an Indigenous shaman, Taylor (Will Sampson), for help. While the sequel received praise for O’Rourke’s performance, iconic “They’re baa-ack” line, and the visual effects, critics panned its story as far-fetched and unnecessary.

Nonetheless, a third movie, Poltergeist III, was greenlit and premiered in 1988. O’Rourke was the only member of the Freeling family to return, and the film follows her placement with her aunt and uncle, Pat (Nancy Allen) and Bruce (Tom Skerritt). Struggling with feeling rejected by family, Carol Anne becomes vulnerable to Kane’s attacks again. Like the sequel, Poltergeist III struggled to prove the necessity of its storyline and was the lowest-grossing film in the franchise.

Poltergeist wouldn’t return to the big screen for another 27 years. Finally, in 2015, director Gil Kenan rebooted the franchise with Poltergeist (2015). It follows Eric (Sam Rockwell) and Amy Bowen (Rosemarie DeWitt), who are terrorized by poltergeists after the spirits connect with their daughter Maddy (Kennedi Clements). Although the film effectively paid homage to the original and was praised for its jump scares, it failed to recapture the magic of the first movie.

How to watch the Poltergeist franchise in order

Watching the Poltergeist franchise in order is quite simple, as the original series has the same chronological and release date order. It’s recommended to start with the original series before watching the reboot. Meanwhile, there is also a Poltergeist TV show, Poltergeist: The Legacy, which ran from 1996 - 1999. It’s not connected to the films; instead, it follows a secret society that fights paranormal forces. Since it’s also unrelated to the original films, the show can be watched at any point along with the remake. The best order to watch the franchise is:

    • Poltergeist
    • Poltergeist II: The Other Side
    • Poltergeist III
    • Poltergeist (2015)
    • Poltergeist: The Legacy

Scary Movie Franchise in Chronological Order

    Scary Movie

The original movie centered around a group of high school students (including Cindy, who is a spoof of Scream’s Sidney) who are stalked by a masked killer. The main influence for the original film was Scream, but it also spoofed classics like I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Sixth Sense, and Halloween.

    Scary Movie 2

The sequel was mainly inspired by The Haunting and House on Haunted Hill and sees Cindy and her friends invited to a haunted house where they experience strange phenomena. Other movies spoofed in the sequel include The Exorcist, The Matrix, and Charlie’s Angels.

    Scary Movie 3

The third film was mainly inspired by Signs and The Ring and focuses on an alien invasion…and a cursed video tape that tells people they’ll die in seven days. • How To Watch All the Blair Witch Movies in Order

How To Watch All the Blair Witch Movies in Order

In 1999, filmmakers Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez released their independent movie, The Blair Witch Project. It would quickly become one of the most successful indie films of all time and popularize the found footage genre. Recently, Lionsgate and Blumhouse confirmed a modern remake of the cult classic was in development. Viewers who wish to get acquainted with the original movies before the remake can use our guide to find out how to watch all the Blair Witch movies in order using services like Max, Prime Video and Netflix.

The Blair Witch Project follows three student filmmakers who have gone missing: Heather Donahue, Michael C. Williams, and Joshua Leonard. The students disappeared while filming a documentary on the myth of the Blair Witch, leaving behind their cameras. Hence, the movie presents itself as if it is the actual footage left behind by the students. While The Blair Witch Project wasn’t the first found footage movie, it did revolutionize the genre. The film was great exposure for the genre, as it was a sleeper hit and garnered over $250 million at the box office on a budget of just $200,000.

Part of the reason The Blair Witch Project was so successful was its unique marketing strategy. It created a website, fake police reports, missing persons posters for the characters, and newsreels that circulated online. In addition, it aired a companion mockumentary, Curse of the Blair Witch, before the film’s release, which includes interviews with friends and families of the missing characters. The marketing campaign was so convincing that some audiences at the time believed The Blair Witch Project was a real documentary rather than fiction.

Eager to capitalize on The Blair Witch Project’s success, a sequel, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, was quickly greenlit and helmed by Joe Berlinger. It followed the same meta/found footage premise of the original, as it follows a group of The Blair Witch Project fans who go to the site of the shoot only to begin to experience paranormal phenomena. The sequel also received a pre-release mockumentary, Shadow of the Blair Witch. Unfortunately, the sequel was panned by critics who found it too formulaic and reliant on the original’s ideas.

Hence, in 2016, Blair Witch premiered and served as a direct sequel to the original while ignoring the events of Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2. Directed by Adam Wingard, the film follows Donahue’s brother, James Donahue (James Allen McCune), who ventures to the woods where his sister went missing 17 years earlier, only to realize the legend of the Blair Witch may be true. While considered an improvement over the second movie, Blair Witch still received criticism for being too similar to the original but not nearly as frightening.

How to watch the Blair Witch movies in order

The best way to watch the Blair Witch franchise is in chronological order, which is the same as the release date order. In addition to the three Blair Witch movies, there are four mockumentaries. The Curse of the Blair Witch is the preface to The Blair Witch Project, and Shadow of the Blair Witch is the preface to Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2. The other two mockumentaries, Sticks and Stones: An Exploration of the Blair Witch Legend and The Massacre of the Burkittsville 7: The Blair Witch Legacy, added further lore to the franchise before the first sequel. The chronological order of the movies is:

    • Curse of the Blair Witch
    • The Blair Witch Project
    • Sticks and Stones: An Exploration of the Blair Witch Legend
    • The Massacre of the Burkittsville 7: The Blair Witch Legacy
    • Shadow of the Blair Witch
    • Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2

    Venom

In the original movie, journalist Eddie Brock is infected with an alien parasite that begins to change his personality, eventually forming a monstrous entity around him known as Venom. The movie asks lots of tough questions, like what separates a hero from a villain, and what separates good from bad.

    Venom: Let There Be Carnage

In the sequel, a serial killer on death row turns into a supervillain after ingesting some of the alien parasite, creating a new monster, Carnage. Eddie, Venom, and Carnage battle it out and in the end, it’s revealed that a third monster has been created, Toxin.

    Spider-Man: No Way Home

In a mid-credits scene, Eddie and Venom are briefly transported to another universe… which is revealed to be the universe of the MCU. At a bar, he learns about all the shenanigans that have been happening with heroes and villains like Spider-Man, Hulk, and Thanos.

    Venom: The Last Dance

Universes collide in the finale film, and Eddie and Venom are chased by both of their worlds. The movie also introduces another monster, Agony, along with Toxin, who was created at the end of the second film.

How to Watch the Hellraiser Movies in Order

From attics to nightclubs, and even outer space, the Hellraiser franchise has taken audiences pretty much everywhere. So far, we’ve gotten 11 Hellraiser films since the original premiered back in 1987. In general, the franchise goes relatively in order, though there are a few differences between the release date order and chronological order.

Use our guide below to find out how to watch every Hellraiser movie in order using streaming platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, Max and more.

Hellraiser Movies in Release Date Order

    Hellraiser Movies in Chronological Order

    Hellraiser

Chronologically, the first movie actually is the first in the franchise. In the film, a young girl named Kirsty discovers that her mother has been having an affair with her father’s brother…who has recently vanished. But after an accident, his body begins to resurrect itself in their attic thanks to a mysterious puzzle box. Unfortunately, the puzzle box also calls upon a race of eternal undead beings who have no comprehension between pleasure and pain, the Cenobites.

    Hellbound: Hellraiser II

Kirsty returns for the sequel and, now in a mental hospital after the events of the first film, believes she’s being visited by her dead father in her dreams. He tells her that he’s trapped in Hell and needs help. Kirsty’s mom also enters Hell, but for much more nefarious reasons.

    Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth

Taking place in New York City, the lead Cenobite Pinhead is now more evil than ever after the events of the second film (he’s now pure “id”). Even worse, Pinhead finds himself being resurrected in the luxury apartment of a pleasure-obsessed young man…giving Pinhead all the fuel he needs to gain his strength and bring “good suffering” to the Big Apple.

    Hellraiser: Inferno

Inferno was the first Hellraiser film to be a straight-to-video release (as would every sequel that followed) and follows a corrupt police officer who stumbles upon the puzzle box (known by fans as the Lament Configuration) and soon he starts having horrific visions. No spoilers here, but the finale gives viewers a shocking twist.

    Hellraiser: Hellseeker

For the first time since Hellbound, Kirsty appears in the franchise once again. In the movie, Kirsty is believed to be dead after her boyfriend crashes their car. But then her boyfriend begins experiencing strange phenomena and there’s a shocking twist ending…but heads up, that “twist” is the exact same as Inferno.

    Hellraiser: Deader

In Deader, a journalist is sent to investigate a mysterious cult known as the Deadites who claim they can kill and resurrect their followers. As you can probably assume, they’re doing this with the help of the puzzle box…and with enough meddling, Pinhead arrives to collect what’s his.

    Hellraiser: Revelations

Revelations focuses on two friends who go on a debaucherous vacation in Mexico, ultimately finding the puzzle box and getting themselves killed. A year later their families find the puzzle box and the madness begins again. But heads up, this film is bad…like, really bad. Hellraiser’s creator Clive Barker even tweeted upon its release, “I have NOTHING to do with the fuckin' thing. If they claim it’s from the mind of Clive Barker, it's a lie. It's not even from my butt-hole.”

    Hellraiser: Judgment

In Judgement, Pinhead is in discussions with other rulers of Hell on how best to keep the portal between the mortal world and theirs open. During the debate, there’s a serial killer running loose on Earth. Also, Heaven and God get involved. Basically, this becomes a heavily religious movie that has a completely new vibe.

    Hellraiser: Bloodline

Though it was the fourth film released (and the final movie to be released in theaters), Bloodline is actually the last chronologically because it takes place in the year 2127 in outer space. In the movie, Pinhead is summoned aboard a space station and meets his ultimate demise.

    Standalone Hellraiser Movies

    Hellraiser: Hellworld

Similar to movies like Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, Hellworld went super meta, taking place outside the chronological order. In the movie, a group of friends play a video game inspired by the Hellraiser franchise…leading to one of them committing suicide. To get revenge, his father decides to kill them, but ends up meeting the real Pinhead himself.

    Hellraiser

In 2022, Hulu released a Hellraiser reboot with Jamie Clayton starring as Pinhead. The movie doesn’t follow the original story and instead creates its own, following a group of young people who are invited to a party in a mansion. But they discover it’s actually a trap to give sacrifices to the Cenobites.

How to Watch The I Know What You Did Last Summer Franchise In Order

It’s official! We are getting a new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie in 2025! Freddie Prinze Jr. has already signed on and Jennifer Love Hewitt is in talks to reprise her role as well. The film, which is slated for a July 2025 release, is set to be a direct sequel to I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, ignoring the events of the third movie.

To catch up on the franchise before its release, use our guide below to find out where you can watch all three I Know What You Did Last Summer Movies in order.

I Know What You Did Last Summer Movies In Release Date Order

I Know What You Did Last Summer Movies in Chronological Order

I Know What You Did Last Summer

In the original movie, a group of teenagers (including Prinze Jr. and Hewitt, along with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe) accidentally hit a fisherman while driving drunk. To avoid getting in trouble, they decide to dump his body in the ocean and pretend it never happened… little do they know he wasn’t actually dead, and now he’s out for murderous revenge.

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer

The cast grew for the ‘98 sequel and included Brandy and Jack Black. Hewitt and Prinze Jr. also reprised their roles, and Hewitt is invited to the Bahamas after winning a radio contest (anyone with geography knowledge will immediately know something is wrong once they hear Hewitt’s “winning” answer). Turns out the whole thing is a trap to finally kill them for what they did that one fateful summer.

I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer

The straight-to-video third movie oddly takes place far away from the ocean in Colorado and the Fisherman returns yet again… this time from beyond the grave. The movie received some pretty awful reviews thanks to its low quality, bad acting, and making the story supernatural. The upcoming film will ignore the events of the third movie.

I Know What You Did Last Summer - TV Series

In 2021, Prime Video launched a series reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer. The show was a modernized retelling of the story, taking more influence from the original 1973 novel than the movie. In early 2022 after one season, Amazon canceled the show.

  • Where To Watch All the Zombieland Movies in Order

Where To Watch All the Zombieland Movies in Order

Since its premiere almost two decades ago, Zombieland has garnered a cult following. The movie and its sequel stand out in the zombie subgenre for perfectly balancing their thrilling, post-apocalyptic premises with emotion and humor. Use our guide to find out how to watch all the Zombieland movies in order.

The franchise began in 2009 with the release of Zombieland. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where a new strain of mad cow disease transmissible to humans has turned much of the population into zombies. Survivors struggle to avoid infection and identify themselves only by their home city names to avoid attachment. After the infection breaks out, survivor and former college student Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) starts his trek home to find his family. Along the way, he meets fellow rugged survivors Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), Wichita (Emma Stone), and Little Rock (Little Rock) and forms an unexpected bond with them.

Zombieland was a major critical and box-office success, earning high praise for its blend of zombie horror and comedy. Although it had as thrilling and heart-racing moments as a typical zombie thriller, it differentiated itself by successfully keeping the tone light and comedic. While talks of a possible sequel arose immediately after Zombieland’s release, there were a few obstacles, especially since the cast and crew had numerous other commitments.

It took a decade to get the four lead stars and crew back together and settle on a story for the sequel, but in 2019, Zombieland: Double Tap premiered. The sequel sees Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita, and Little Rock living in the White House ten years after the original film's events. However, they’re forced to leave the safety of their home and fight off evolved zombies on a trip to Graceland to retrieve Little Rock, who has run away in search of a better life. Zombieland: Double Tap was another box office success and earned praise for capturing the spirit of the original while evolving the zombies and offering a unique story.

While Zombieland 3 isn’t officially in development, the cast and crew have suggested reuniting every decade for another movie. Additionally, director Ruben Fleischer has expressed interest in a spinoff movie featuring Zoey Duetch’s Madison, a dimwitted young woman the gang meets in the sequel.

How to watch the Zombieland movies in order

Watching the Zombieland movies in order is quite simple, as the chronological and release date orders are the same. Additionally, if viewers want to delve further into the franchise, they can watch the Zombieland TV pilot. In 2013, the pilot aired on Prime Video. The series would’ve taken place in the Zombieland universe with a new cast of characters, but it wasn’t picked up after the pilot. The release date/chronological order for the franchise is below:

  • How To Watch Every Child’s Play Movie and TV Show in Order

How To Watch Every Child’s Play Movie and TV Show in Order

The Child’s Play franchise, also known as the Chucky franchise, has delighted horror and slasher fans for over thirty years. Following the original film’s premiere, Chucky (Brad Dourif) became a horror icon, spawning a franchise consisting of nine movies, a TV series, and a short film. Check out our guide to find out where to watch every entry in the Child’s Play franchise in order.

The franchise started with the premiere of Child’s Play in 1988. The film follows Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), a young boy gifted a Good Guy doll for his birthday. Unbeknownst to him and his mother, Karen (Catherine Hicks), the doll is inhabited by the spirit of serial killer Charles Lee Ray and comes to life to terrorize them. Child’s Play was a success, earning praise for its unique and terrifying puppetry and bold decision to make the primary victim of the film a child.

The film received a direct sequel, Child’s Play 2, which takes place two years after the original movie and sees Chucky reanimated. He quickly finds Andy and terrorizes him and his new friend Kyle (Christine Elise). The third movie, Child’s Play 3, premiered less than a year later and featured an eight-year time skip, focusing on a teenage Andy (Justin Whalin) who deals with Chucky while enrolled in Kent Military School. Unfortunately, both sequels failed to replicate the original’s box office success and were criticized for rehashing the same horror and slasher elements from the first film.

Hence, Child’s Play went on a seven-year hiatus before returning with Bride of Chucky. In the movie, Ray’s ex-girlfriend Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) revives Chucky before becoming a doll herself. Not only did the film garner praise for its dark humor and gain a cult following, but it was also praised for improving the franchise by shifting focus to the dolls and including LGBTQ+ representation with Tiffany, who is bisexual.

The fifth installment, Seed of Chucky, continues the dolls’ storyline with Chucky’s son, Glen (Billy Boyd), resurrecting Chucky and Tiffany, who are appalled to learn their offspring has no violent tendencies. However, the final two canon films, Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky return to the source material. In Curse of Chucky, Chucky finds a new family to terrorize, while the franchise comes full circle in Cult of Chucky with the return of Andy (Vincent). The sixth and seventh installments received the most positive critical reception in the franchise as the movies covered new ground and brought a new sense of terror to Chucky.

While Cult of Chucky played out like a finale and the next film was the reboot Child’s Play (2019) with Mark Hamill as Chucky, the original storyline continued with the TV series Chucky. The series sees Chucky fall into the hands of a teenage boy, Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur), who struggles to resist Chucky’s influence while navigating high school and relationships.

How to watch the Child’s Play movies and TV shows in order

Watching the Child’s Play movies and TV shows in order is quite simple, as the chronological and release date order are the same. The only outlier is Child’s Play (2019). Since it’s a standalone reboot unconnected to the TV show and prior films, it can be watched anytime. There is also one canon short film viewers can enjoy. See below for the release date/chronological order of the Child’s Play franchise:

    • Child’s Play (1988)
    • Child’s Play 2 (1990)
    • Child’s Play 3 (1991)
    • Bride of Chucky (1998)

  • How to Watch the (Real) Amityville Horror Movies in Order

How to Watch the (Real) Amityville Horror Movies in Order

I bet you had no idea that The Amityville Horror is actually one of the sloppiest, messiest franchises in Hollywood history. It doesn’t help that the “real” events the original movie is based on are also highly contested, with many claiming to have proof the Lutz family were hoaxers looking for a big payday. Regardless of whether it’s real or fake, the original Amityville movie provides enough scares to make it a worthwhile watch for horror fans. Check out our guide below to find out where to watch the real Amityville Horror movies online.

Notice I said “real”. That’s because the Amityville franchise has become a wild, insane hodgepodge of messy no-budget horror movies that are so bad you can’t even sit through them. There are currently over 60 Amityville movies. Yep, sixty. There’s everything from Amityville Bigfoot to Amityville Job Interview, Amityville in Space, and even Amityville Death Toilet. Basically, anytime a crappy horror movie with no money wants to get some views, it throws Amityville in the title to hopefully stir up some interest. But none of these movies actually have anything to do with the Amityville franchise.

In fact, there’s only two real Amityville movies if you want to go by the “true story”. Or, if you want to broaden it to any movie that (very loosely) involves the house, or that tries to use the original storyline as a (very loose) premise, there are nine films. Here’s how to watch them in order.

Amityville Horror Movies in Release Date Order

If you want to watch the movies chronologically, there’s actually only two films that matter: the original, and its 1982 prequel. Everything else isn’t actually part of the “true story” and instead focuses on someone being possessed by the “Amityville spirit” or someone finding an old artifact from the house, or someone moving into the home decades later. Here’s the two movies that actually share a timeline.

Amityville Horror Movies in Chronological Order

    Amityville II: The Possession

This sequel is actually a prequel and is the truest of all the movies. The film centers around the DeFeo family who lived at 112 Ocean Avenue in Amityville, New York. One night, their son Ron murdered both his parents, and his four siblings – this is all a true story and actually happened. The film alleges that DeFeo was under the influence of either a demon or the devil himself, a narrative that had been pushed for decades thanks to the paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Yep, the couple from The Conjuring).

    The Amityville Horror

One month after DeFeo received his life sentence, the Lutz family moved into the house, claiming to know nothing about the DeFeos or the murders. 28 days later, the family fled from the house, leaving most of their belongings behind – this is also a true story. They said they left the home because they were being tormented by evil spirits. This film focuses on what may have happened during those 28 days.

  • How To Watch Every Addams Family TV Show and Movie in Order

How To Watch Every Addams Family TV Show and Movie in Order

The Addams Family has been making a comeback due to the widely popular Netflix series Wednesday. Cartoonist Charles Addams created the eccentric family with an affinity for the macabre in the 1930s. Since then, they have been adapted into TV and film several times. With Wednesday season 2 arriving in 2025, viewers can use our guide to find out where and how to watch all the Addams Family TV shows and movies in order before then.

The first TV show adaptation was The Addams Family (1964). It established the Addams Family as viewers know it today, giving them names and backstories. The series follows Gomez (John Astin) and Morticia Addams (Carolyn Jones), a wealthy, passionately in-love couple who live in a Gothic-style home with their children, Wednesday (Lisa Loring) and Pugsley (Ken Weatherwax), and servant, Thing. Despite their enjoyment of morbid and odd things, they are very kind and can’t understand why others are frightened or judgemental of them.

Following the 1964 sitcom, the Addams Family's popularity rose. They appeared in an episode of The New Scooby-Doo Movies and an unsold pilot for The Addams Family Fun House before receiving an animated series, The Addams Family (1973). In 1992, a remake animated series, The Addams Family (1992), premiered, with Astin reprising his role as Gomez. Neither series was long-lived, but they earned praise for their nostalgia and dark humor.

The animated series was remade following the success of the first live-action movie, The Addams Family (1991). In the film, the Addams Family becomes suspicious when they start to suspect Gomez’s (Raul Julia) recently returned long-lost brother, Fester (Christopher Lloyd), is a fraud. The Addams Family effectively reinvented the family, with Julia’s Gomez, Christina Ricci’s Wednesday, and Anjelica Huston’s Morticia frequently hailed as the best iterations of the characters. Meanwhile, the sequel, Addams Family Values, is considered the best Addams Family movie because it does justice to the darker and more macabre spirit of the family as it sees Gomez and Morticia prepare to welcome a new baby to the family.

Unfortunately, the Addams Family struggled after Addams Family Values. A direct-to-video movie, Addams Family Reunion, was panned by critics, while The New Addams Family series failed to replicate its predecessor’s success and was canceled after one season.

The family went on a hiatus for two decades before entering its modern era with the 2019 computer-animated movie The Addams Family. The movie and its sequel, The Addams Family 2, delve deeper into the underlying theme of the family, which is acceptance. In the first film, Gomez (Oscar Isaac), Morticia (Charlize Theron), and the children face discrimination when a TV personality decides their home doesn’t match the neighborhood’s aesthetic, while the sequel focuses on Wednesday’s (Chloë Grace Moretz) struggles to fit in.

Tim Burton's Wednesday arrived on Netflix following the animated films' box office success. It offers the most ambitious reimagining of the Addams Family, as Jenna Ortega brings Wednesday Addams to life in a supernatural detective series.

How to watch the Addams Family movies and TV shows in order

Given the numerous reboots and reimaginings of the Addams Family, there isn’t a chronological order to follow. However, to get the most out of the franchise, the first two live-action movies and original series are an excellent place to start, followed by the newer iterations of the family. Afterward, viewers can delve deeper into the franchise with direct-to-video movies, cartoons, and remake series either in release date order or whatever order they choose. One possible order to watch the shows and movies is:

    • The Addams Family (1991)
    • Addams Family Values
    • The Addams Family (1964)
    • The Addams Family (2019)

  • How To Watch Every Insidious Movie in Order (And Where To Watch)

How To Watch Every Insidious Movie in Order (And Where To Watch)

The Insidious franchise has been terrifying and intriguing viewers since 2010 with its unique supernatural horror premise. The franchise will expand in 2025 with Insidious 6 and the spinoff movie Thread: An Insidious Tale. Viewers who want to catch up with the horror franchise before the spinoff and sequel can use our guide to find out where and how to watch the Insidious movies in order.

The franchise began in 2010 with the James Wan-directed Insidious. On a budget of just $1.5 million, Insidious proved genuinely terrifying with its jump scares and infamous red demon scene. The film follows Josh (Patrick Wilson) and Renai Lambert (Rose Byrne) as they move into a new home with their young sons, Dalton (Ty Simpkins) and Foster (Andrew Astor). Things take a dark turn when Dalton inexplicably falls into a coma, which coincides with frightening paranormal activity in their home. They are forced to seek advice from psychic Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) and confront dark details from Josh’s past and spirit realm of The Further.

Insidious’ success quickly spawned a franchise. The sequel, Insidious: Chapter 2, picks up immediately after Insidious and sees the Lambert family’s nightmare continue as a woman in a white dress haunts them. Josh’s mother, Lorraine (Barbara Hershey), must reveal further family secrets to help them understand what is happening to them. The movie was another success, although it seemed to close out the Lambert family’s story.

The following two films in the series were prequels that go back in time to explore Rainier’s history and career. Insidious: Chapter 3 takes place three years before the Lambert family haunting and sees Rainier explore a case involving Quinn Brenner (Stefanie Scott). After an attempt to contact Quinn’s late mother accidentally unleashes a malevolent spirit, Rainier is forced to delve deeper into The Further to save Quinn. The film’s box office success and praise for its emotional premise resulted in another prequel, Insidious: The Last Key, in which Rainier is forced to uncover her family’s secrets after she’s called to investigate paranormal activity in her former childhood home. The prequel closes out Rainier’s solo story and leads directly into the events of Insidious.

Five years after the fourth installment, Insidious: The Red Door premiered and brought the story back to the Lamberts. The film takes place nine years after the events of Insidious, as Dalton heads off to college but finds that The Further refuses to leave him and his father alone.

Following Insidious: The Red Door’s success at the box office, Insidious 6 was announced. It’s expected to continue the Lamberts’ or Rainier’s story, but no cast has been confirmed. Meanwhile, a spinoff is in development that will take place in the Insidious universe but will be separate from the main series.

How to watch the Insidious movies in order

Viewers can watch the Insidious franchise in either chronological or release date order. To watch the series chronologically, one would watch the prequels before Insidious and its sequels. The chronological order is as follows:

The Evil Dead in Chronological Order

    The Evil Dead

While the original movie focuses on zombies and raising demons from the dead, it also had a good amount of humor, wit, and campy vibes. The film also helped turn its star Bruce Campbell into a cult hero amongst the horror crowd.

    Evil Dead 2

Arguably even more popular than the original, the sequel sees the return of the zombie-making demons creating what's known in the movie as “Deadites”. In the film, Ash (Campbell) and a group of strangers huddle together in a cabin and fight for survival. Get ready for more guts, more gore, and more comedy.

    Army of Darkness

Taking the franchise to its zaniest place yet, Army of Darkness transports Ash to the Middle Ages and he must fight to return home. But the only way to get back to the present is using the book of the dead (uh-oh…) The movie is absolutely wild and has some totally hilarious one-liners.

    Evil Dead

Most people *think* that the 2013 film Evil Dead is a reboot or remake. But in reality it’s a sequel. The film plays out largely like the original movie – a group in a remote cabin – but a post-credits scene shows Ash, proving that this film is part of the original timeline.

    Ash vs. Evil Dead

This Starz series ran for three seasons and saw Campbell reprise his iconic role as Ash. Throughout the show’s run Ash must once again battle the evil dead and he’s joined by a few surprising coasters, including Samara Weaving and Lucy Lawless (aka Xena the Warrior Princess).

    Evil Dead Rise

More of a standalone film, the movie takes place in a Los Angeles apartment complex where a family accidentally calls upon the evil dead once again. The film has no true connection to the previous movies aside from the fact that the dead are raised using the same book. But in 2023, Campbell said in an interview with Collider that the movie is indeed in the same timeline, technically making it a standalone sequel.

How to Watch Every Paranormal Activity Movie in Order

The Paranormal Activity franchise is undeniably scary – especially the first two films which scared the living s*** out of everyone who saw them. But did you know the franchise’s release order and chronological order are a little different? Check out our guide below to find out where every Paranormal Activity movie is streaming online and how to watch the franchise in order.

Paranormal Activity Movies by Release Date

If you want to watch the franchise in chronological order, it will be a bit different. Here’s every movie in the franchise and how they connect chronologically.

Paranormal Activity Movies in Chronological Order

    Paranormal Activity 3

Paranormal Activity 3 serves as an origin film, showing how Katie and her sister Kristi originally began being afflicted by the demon when they were just little girls. The movie takes place in 1988 and is also the highest-grossing movie in the franchise, earning more than $207 million at the box office.

    Paranormal Activity 2

Paranormal Activity 2 is a prequel that takes place immediately before the events of the first movie, and the end of the film brings it right up to date, running concurrently with Paranormal Activity. The movie follows Kristi and her husband as they fight off a demon who wants their baby. In a desperate attempt to rid themselves of the burden, Kristi’s husband passes the demon along to Katie…igniting the events of the first movie. In the finale scene, a now-possessed Katie comes over and kills her sister, and steals her baby…never to be seen again.

    Paranormal Activity

The original movie that started it all. Did you know that despite premiering theatrically in 2009, the first movie initially premiered in 2007 and then had screenings in college towns across America, slowly building up its reputation as one of the scariest movies ever made (this also explains why the movie is set in 2006, which was three years prior by the time it premiered in 2009). When it did finally have its wide theatrical release, audiences were literally screaming in theaters, watching Katie and her boyfriend Micah get terrorized by an unseen force.

    Paranormal Activity 4

Remember the end of Paranormal Activity 2 when Katie steals her sister’s baby? Well, Paranormal Activity 4 takes place five years later in 2011, and that little baby is now a young boy staying with a neighboring family while his “mom” (aka Katie) is gone with a mysterious illness. But it turns out this is all part of the demon’s plan to use him as a vessel for demonic possession. It’s also revealed that the demon gets its power through a group of witches.

    Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones

Ok, let's just be real here. By this point, the Paranormal Activity franchise was running out of steam and the producers knew it. The whole witch coven nonsense in the fourth movie didn’t pay off and audiences were getting bored. To fix this, they tried to reinvent the plot with a new cast of young SoCal kids who stumble upon one of the witches. Interestingly though, in one of the final scenes, one of the kids is sent back to Katie and Micah’s house from the first movie, offering a (somewhat) explanation for the movie’s terrifying finale.

    Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension

In The Ghost Dimension, a family discovers they live in a house that was built on the site of Katie and Kristi’s childhood home…and the demonic presence is still there. The movie’s big gimmick is, as the name implies, for the first time viewers will get to see the spirit world. Nobody liked this, it was critically panned, the movie bombed, and it ended the franchise.

    Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin

Some fans have wild and far-flung theories that Next of Kin might secretly be connected to the previous films, but in general, it’s considered a standalone movie. However, being set in the present day (2021) means that regardless of whether it's a sequel or not, it still chronologically would take place after everything else. The movie sees a group of filmmakers visit an Amish community looking for answers, only to discover that this cult is actually keeping a demonic presence held prisoner to prevent it from overtaking the world.

  • How To Watch The Purge Franchise in Order (And Where To Watch)

How To Watch The Purge Franchise in Order (And Where To Watch)

The Purge has been delighting viewers for over a decade with its unique horror premise. The dystopian horror series examines what would happen if, every year, the United States held a “Purge,” in which all crime, including murder, is legal for 12 hours. Director James DeMonaco is developing a sixth installment in the film series, although it is currently untitled and without a release date. Newcomers to the franchise can use our guide to find out where and how to watch The Purge movies in order before the sixth movie premieres.

The franchise started in 2013 with the premiere of The Purge. In the film, a political party called the New Founding Fathers of America (NFFA) rises to power, establishing a totalitarian government and passing a law calling for an annual Purge, claiming it decreases crime for the rest of the year. In the film, wealthy couple James (Ethan Hawke) and Mary Sandin (Lena Headey) prepare to hunker down with their children to wait out the Purge in their home with a state-of-the-art security system. However, Purgers disrupt the Sandins’ plans when they descend on their home.

Given its violence, unique premise, and political undertones, The Purge was a huge box-office hit and quickly spawned a sequel, The Purge: Anarchy. One year after the first film's events, things heat up as another Purge begins, but faces opposition from a group of resistance fighters. The film also introduces fan-favorite Leo Barnes (Frank Grillo), whose initial revenge mission takes a turn when he saves two women and begins learning the truth about the Purge and resistance.

By the second sequel, The Purge: Election Year, the political commentary becomes more overt as the NFFA changes the rules of the Purge to take out Senator Charlene Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell), who is running for President and threatens the Purge’s existence. Roan struggles to survive during the Purge with the help of Barnes, who is now her head of security. With The Purge: Election Year, the franchise morphed into a violent, thoughtful political thriller that maintained its success streak at the box office.

The franchise delved into new territory after the third movie, bringing viewers back in time with the prequel movie The First Purge, which follows the NFFA’s first experimental Purge. Additionally, the franchise’s first TV series, The Purge, premiered in 2018. However, the franchise soon returned to the present with The Forever Purge, which takes place eight years after The Purge: Election Year. The movie sees the migrant couple Adela (Ana de la Reguera), and Juan (Tenoch Huerta) struggle for survival after a group of Forever Purgers carry on their massacre after the Purge ends.

Although The Forever Purge was intended to be the final film in the series, director DeMonaco agreed to continue the story with a sixth installment. It will see Grillo’s return as Barnes, and rumors suggest it will explore a worldwide Purge.

How to watch The Purge franchise in order

The Purge movies and TV shows always openly establish their timeline. In the Purge universe, the first Purge takes place in 2014, and the franchise has tracked its history up to 2048. • Where To Watch Every Final Destination Movie in Order

Where To Watch Every Final Destination Movie in Order

After a 14-year hiatus, the Final Destination franchise is returning to the big screen with the upcoming Final Destination: Bloodlines. Viewers looking to get into the 25-year-old horror franchise can use our guide to find out how to watch all the Final Destination movies in order before the new one.

The franchise started in 2000 with the release of Final Destination. The film follows Alex Browning (Devon Sawa), a young man who has a premonition that the airplane he’s on will explode mid-air. He and his friends get off the plane before take-off, only to later learn that the aircraft exploded in a catastrophic accident, killing every passenger on board. However, when the survivors start dying in freak accidents, Browning realizes they can’t just cheat Death.

Final Destination set itself apart from other slash films with its premonition premise and decision to make the killer the unseen entity Death. The fact that there are real-life stories of premonition saving lives made the premise even more chilling. As a result, the film was a box office success and spawned a franchise. Every film in the series follows the same premise of a group of people avoiding Death due to one individual’s premonition, only to be picked off by the entity one by one in the order they were originally intended to die in.

While each movie follows the same formula, they often introduce new rules/exceptions to Death’s vengeance and sometimes shake things up for fun. For example, in the sequel, Final Destination 2, when Kimberly Corman (A. J. Cook) saves a group of travelers from a highway pile-up, Death begins picking off survivors in reverse order. Meanwhile, in the standalone sequel Final Destination 3, amusement park accident survivor Wendy Christensen (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) realizes photos taken before the incident include clues of how Death will claim the survivors.

The filmmakers intended for the fourth movie, The Final Destination, to be the last film in the series. Although the story of Nick O’Bannon’s (Bobby Campo) premonition of a race car accident ends with a note of finality, Final Destination 5 was greenlit and premiered in 2011. The movie brought the franchise back to its roots by making it a prequel to the original film. Eight years later, Final Destination: Bloodlines was revealed to be in development. It is unknown where the movie takes place in the Final Destination universe and if it will uphold the previous films’ formula, but it has been described as a “reimagining” of the franchise.

Watching the Final Destination movies in chronological order isn’t too difficult. With the exception of the prequel, Final Destination 5, the films follow the release date order. Check out the chronological order below:

  • How to Watch Every Predator Movie in Order

How to Watch Every Predator Movie in Order

Few franchises are as popular as Predator. Since premiering in 1987, the Predator (or, more specifically the Yautja warrior) has spawned his own film franchise, appeared in comics and video games, and even stars in its own crossover universe with Alien, rightfully titled Alien vs. Predator. On top of that, a Prey sequel and a new standalone Predator movie called Badlands are both going into production.

If you want to explore the Predator universe before then, check out our guide below to find out how to watch every Predator movie in order. We also have a ranked list of best to worst Predator movies for those interested in watching them in order of quality.

    Predator Movies by Release Date

The Yautjas are also in the Alien vs. Predator (AVP) franchise, though AVP is not technically part of the official Alien or Predator timelines.

Alien vs. Predator Movies by Release Date

    Predator Movies in Chronological Order

    Prey

Chronologically, the first movie in the series would be Prey, which is set back in 1719. In the film, a young Comanche woman (Amber Midthunder) wants to be a great hunter, but is told she’s not allowed since she’s a woman. But after encountering the Predator in the forest, she must not only become a hunter, but also survive being hunted.

    Predator

Next up is the original movie which is set in the present day (being 1987 at the time). In the film, an elite military team is tasked with an extraction mission in a wartorn Central American country. But escaping rebel forces in the jungle turns out to be the least of their worries once they find themselves stalked by the Predator.

    Predators

This one is highly debated because Predators never actually says when it takes place. However, many fans believe it takes place between the first two movies. In the film, a group of humans awaken on an alien planet and learn that they’re being used for hunting practice by the Predators. Even wilder, the Predator from the first movie (who definitely was blown up in the finale, but oh well...) is somehow there, and alive, and is tied up and being tortured by the other Predators for his failure on Earth. Because of this, many fans think it’s set not long after the first movie. But there are others who believe the film takes place in the future, which begs the question: How long has the Predator been tied up for?????

    Predator 2

Taking Predator from the jungle to the city, Predator 2 starred Danny Glover as a Los Angeles detective who is investigating drug cartels. Also, somewhat randomly, the film is set in 1997 instead of 1990 – perhaps to give the movie more of a dystopian future vibe (which…it didn’t). But the cartels soon find that they’re not just warring against each other and the police, but also the Predator.

    The Predator

Another oddity (and, honestly, just a really terrible movie in general) is The Predator. Before the film’s release, director Shane Black claimed in a 2016 interview with HeyUGuys that the movie takes place before 2010’s Predators, but also, and I quote, “Predator 2 has probably happened already…” So the film’s director doesn’t even know where and when the movie takes place. Black also cast his convicted pedophile friend for a small role in the film where he plays a pervert, and the movie has a bizarre subplot about autism. Needless to say, Black hasn’t directed a movie since The Predator and this film can honestly just be skipped.

  • How to Watch A Nightmare on Elm Street in Order (and Where to Stream Them All)

How to Watch A Nightmare on Elm Street in Order (and Where to Stream Them All)

A Nightmare on Elm Street is a little different from other slasher movies. Compared to Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th) or Michael Myers (Halloween), Freddy Krueger has a much lower kill count. Instead of hacking and slashing everyone in sight, Freddy is much more sadistic, choosing his victims and haunting them before killing them in wildly elaborate ways. That maniacal behavior, combined with Freddy’s trademark personality, is what makes him a (dare I say) likable killer.

Check out our guide below to find out where to watch every Nightmare on Elm Street movie in order streaming online in the United States.

The good news is that the Nightmare franchise’s chronological and release date orders are the same. Here’s how it looks:

A Nightmare on Elm Street Movies in Order

A Nightmare on Elm Street Movies in Chronological Order

    A Nightmare on Elm Street

The original movie introduced the world to Freddy Krueger. The child rapist and murderer is killed by the local community and as he dies, he vows to take revenge by killing their children…in their dreams. This is also the film that has the iconic Johnny Depp death scene where he’s sucked into the bed.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge

Initially, this sequel was panned upon its release, but in recent decades the film has seen a newfound appreciation, especially in the LGBTQ community. The movie’s screenwriter, director, and star were all gay and the movie was absolutely LOADED with homoeroticism. Freddy’s Revenge eventually got an award-winning documentary made about its queer undertones called Scream Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

Centered on a group of teens in a psychiatric hospital, Dream Warriors saw some of the wildest kills in the Nightmare franchise – it’s also a fan-favorite. From Freddy turning into a giant, intestine-looking snake and eating a girl to Freddy popping out of a TV and delivering the iconic line “Welcome to prime time, bitch” before shoving a girl into the television, Dream Warriors is a wild must-watch.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master

Dream Master continues the story of the survivors from Part 3, now released from the institution and living normal lives. Naturally, Freddy returns once again to finish the job. The movie received a few mixed reviews, but was relatively well-received.

A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child

In The Dream Child, it’s alluded that Freddy wants to come back by being reincarnated as the child of one of his victims. While the movie had some wild and brutal kills, the film was ultimately a dud with many thinking the franchise had jumped the shark.

    Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare

Released in 1991, The Final Nightmare technically takes place in the late ‘90s and early 2000s. It was also supposed to be the conclusion of the franchise…but the movie is weird and sloppy, and is considered one of the worst in the franchise.

    Wes Craven’s New Nightmare

With The Final Nightmare officially ending the franchise, Craven found a unique way to bring back Freddy. New Nightmare is an ultra-meta movie that stars Heather Langenkamp (the star of the original movie)… who plays herself. Known as “the actress from A Nightmare on Elm Street”, Heather navigates life as an actress and a Scream Queen. But everything changes one night when she starts having nightmares about Freddy and he comes into the real world.

    Freddy vs. Jason

In 2003, Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees duked it out in an epic battle. Even cooler, the movie references Freddy’s past kills, officially putting it in the chronological timeline. In the film, Freddy has lost his power since his death in The Final Nightmare, so he resurrects Jason to cause chaos, hoping to feed on the fear and gain enough energy to re-emerge.

    A Nightmare on Elm Street

This movie was a reboot and hoped to relaunch the Nightmare franchise… but trying to remake a movie that’s already a classic isn’t easy (as this film learned the hard way). With terrible reviews and a very “meh” box office performance, this remains the last Nightmare movie released to date.

10 Movies to Watch if You Love Smile 2 and Where to Stream Them

Smile became a breakout hit back in 2022. The film earned more than $217 million at the box office and was one of the scariest movies of the year. If you’re a fan of Smile or its 2024 sequel Smile 2, check out our guide below to discover more great movies you’ll enjoy and find out where they’re streaming online.

First up, all Smile fans need to check out It Follows. In Smile, an unseen entity follows its victims for days, appearing as eerie, smiling people, before it kills them. The entity then passes on from person to another after their death. The plot of It Follows is incredibly similar. In the movie, the evil spirit is passed on through sex, whereas in Smile it seems to prey on people with trauma. But this STD-spread haunting movie preys on people’s fear of not just evil, but sexual health as well, making it a disturbingly hard-hitting horror movie.

Another closely related film is The Ring. In Smile, it’s revealed that nobody survives the haunting after one week, as the entity’s abuse gets stronger and stronger. Anyone who has ever seen The Ring will immediately recognize the similarity since the line “seven days” became infamous when Rachel (Naomi Watts) gets a phone call after watching the cursed video tape. It’s the original “followed by a cursed demon” horror movie and to this day it still holds up. The Ring received two sequels – The Ring Two and Rings.

Another similar film is The Grudge. While the movie doesn’t have the countdown aspect of the other two, it still centers around a curse that eventually kills its victims, remaining there until someone finds the body. Then, the curse attaches itself to its new victim, starting the process over again. Starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, the movie was a massive hit and, like The Ring, it has spawned two theatrically-released sequels – The Grudge 2 and The Grudge (and one straight-to-video sequel).

How To Watch the Smile Movies in Order (And Where To Watch Them)

In 2022, the low-budget psychological horror film Smile was a surprise hit. The movie was so successful that Smile 2 was quickly greenlit and is set to premiere on October 18. It will be the perfect movie to see in theaters during Halloween month. Viewers wishing to catch up on the franchise before the sequel premieres can use our guide to find out where to watch the Smile movies in order on platforms like Hulu, AppleTV+, and more.

While the franchise achieved mainstream success with the release of Smile, it’s not the first movie in the series. The franchise started in 2020 with the release of the short film Laura Hasn’t Slept. Laura Hasn’t Slept was written and directed by Parker Finn and serves as a prequel to Smile. It follows Laura Weaver (Caitlin Stasey), a young woman who visits her therapist, Dr. Parsons (Lew Temple), and complains of insomnia due to seeing an entity constantly smiling at her.

Laura Hasn’t Slept was well-received at the SXSW film festival, and Finn soon began developing a feature-length film, Smile, inspired by the short. Stasey reprises her role as Weaver in the movie, but the lead protagonist is Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon). Dr. Cotter is a therapist who witnesses a traumatic event involving her patient, Weaver. After the incident, she is tormented by an entity that takes the form of people she knows and smiles unsettlingly at her. As she and her ex-boyfriend, Joel (Kyle Gallner), explore the entity’s history, she is forced to confront her traumatic past.

Even before its release, Smile attracted attention as it utilized a genius marketing scheme to place actors in the audience of live sporting games and have them smile creepily. Upon release, it received widespread praise for its terrifying premise and sophisticated exploration of trauma. The movie was also a hit at the box office, garnering over $217 million on a budget of just $17 million.

Smile 2 is expected to delve deeper into the lore of the smiling entity. The only character from the original set to return is Gallner. Meanwhile, the film will focus on a new protagonist, Skye Riley (Naomi Scott). Riley is a famous pop star who starts seeing disturbing smiling faces ahead of her world tour.

Joker: Folie à Deux is the long-awaited sequel to the critically acclaimed Joker. The film sees the return of Joaquin Phoenix as the nihilistic criminal Arthur Fleck (a.k.a. Joker), but this time, he is joined by his iconic love interest Harley Quinn (Lady Gaga).

Elevated by its musical components and Lady Gaga’s acting and vocal prowess, Joker: Folie à Deux is another unique and searing social commentary. If you enjoyed Joker: Folie à Deux, use our guide to find 10 similar great TV shows and movies you can stream online today on platforms like Max, Netflix, Prime Video, and more.

    Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad follows Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a family man who is already financially struggling when he learns he has terminal cancer. Feeling he has no other option, he turns to a life of crime to ensure his family will be taken care of after his death and slowly transforms into a brutal drug lord. Breaking Bad is one of the most critically acclaimed shows of all time and parallels Joker: Folie à Deux with a tale of a man-turned-criminal who poignantly reflects society.

    Falling Down

Falling Down is a psychological thriller about William Foster's (Michael Douglas) trek across Los Angeles to attend his daughter’s birthday party. His trek slowly turns into a rampage as he begins reacting with increasing violence to everyone he encounters while becoming more disillusioned by social inequality. It’s a bit more ambiguous and darkly comedic than Joker: Folie à Deux, but both movies track long-suffering men seeking vengeance against society.

    Gotham

Gotham follows Detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), whose investigation into the murder of Bruce Wayne’s (David Mazouz) parents pits him against some of the city’s most iconic villains. The show also follows Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) and Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan) throughout their slow transformations into Harley Quinn and Joker-esque villains. Dark, violent, and gritty, Gotham boasts a similar tone to Joker: Folie à Deux and delves deep into concepts of corruption, vengeance, and mental illness.

    Joker

One can’t get closer to Joker: Folie à Deux than its predecessor, Joker. The film tracks the origin story of Fleck, a failed comedian who begins descending into madness due to society’s continuous rejection of him. While Joker: Folie à Deux delves deeper into its nihilistic protagonist and social commentary, Joker provides the riveting backstory of how society molded the man viewers see in the sequel.

    Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler is a neo-noir thriller that follows the petty thief Louis “Lou” Bloom (Jake Gyllenhaal) as he discovers the lucrative world of crime journalism. In his desperation to capture the most sensational crime photos and videos, he begins interfering with each crime scene. Like Joker: Folie à Deux, Nightcrawler delves into the effects of unemployment and poverty while exploring additional themes about consumer culture and the ethics of photojournalism.

    Taxi Driver

Taxi Driver follows Travis Bickle (Robert De Niro), a New York City taxi driver who works the night shift to deal with his insomnia and loneliness. During his drives, he becomes disillusioned with the state of the city and begins forming a radical plot to save the world. Taxi Driver is believed to have heavily influenced the Joker with its dark character study and reflects Joker: Folie à Deux with its exploration of whether its protagonist is a villain or a heroic vigilante.

    The Batman

The Batman tackles many of the same themes as Joker but is told from the hero's perspective instead of the villain’s. It follows Bruce Wayne (Robert Pattinson), who races to stop the Riddler’s (Paul Dano) attacks on Gotham’s elite while delving into his own family’s corrupt history. Similar to Joker: Folie à Deux, The Batman examines classism and social inequality and features a complicated villain who violently attempts to right the wrongs of society.

    The King of Comedy

The King of Comedy is a black comedy about Rupert Pupkin (De Niro), a failed comedian who becomes obsessed with comedian and talk show host Jerry Langford (Jerry Lewis). As his obsession grows, he forms a plot to kidnap Langford and force him to invite him on his show. The King of Comedy plays out a bit more like a horror story than Joker: Folie à Deux, but both movies are dark and ambitious explorations of failed comedians who will do anything to fulfill their fantasies of fame.

    The Penguin

Like Joker: Folie à Deux, The Penguin is a character study and unique social commentary focusing on an iconic Batman villain. The crime drama follows Oswald Cobb (Colin Farrell) in his bid to become Gotham's new crime kingpin. Dark, gritty, and told from the villains’ perspective, The Penguin and Joker: Folie à Deux offer refreshing takes on the Batman universe while delving into concepts of classism and discrimination.

    V for Vendetta

V for Vendetta is a political thriller set in a dystopian future where the UK has come under the control of a fascist totalitarian regime. V (Hugo Weaving), a masked vigilante, takes it upon himself to utilize terrorist methods to fight the oppressive regime. How to Watch The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in Order

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie premiered in 1974. The movie was a massive hit and laid the groundwork for the modern slasher genre. Before we dive into the multiple timelines the series has, let’s check out the franchise in its release date order.

Texas Chainsaw Movies in Release Date Order

Chronologically, the timeline is much messier. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a franchise that’s had a few massive hits…but tons of misses, which prompted film studios to attempt numerous reboots, prequels, and legacy sequels with the hopes of reviving the series. That’s given us four timelines – the original continuity, the 2003 reboot timeline, the 2013 reboot timeline, and the 2022 sequel timeline.

    Original Texas Chainsaw Timeline

The original timeline consists of the first five films. After the first movie, the series got weird and wild. The sequel was a fun and quirky ‘80s film that leaned heavily into camp and kitsch, making it feel nothing like the first movie, though it was still super enjoyable. The third film is… actually, let’s just ignore the third film, it’s that bad… and The Next Generation (which is called The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre outside of America) is so weird and bonkers you’ll have no idea what you’re watching. It is, however, really interesting and despite being super confusing, its meta, satirical take on the franchise is awesome.

    2003 Remake Timeline

After Texas Chainsaw’s four sequels made everything completely weird and ruined all hope of continuity, New Line Cinema knew the only way to bring back the franchise was to reboot it. Initially, this started with the 2003 remake starring Jessica Biel. After the film grossed more than $107 million, another movie was soon on the way. But instead of a sequel, it received a prequel that showed the origins of how Thomas Hewitt became Leatherface.

    2013 Reboot Timeline

In 2013 Texas Chainsaw got a present-day sequel that ignored everything except the first movie from 1974. Then there was Leatherface. Set in the same continuity, Leatherface was a prequel showing Thomas Hewitt’s childhood. It was supposed to be released in 2016, but wasn’t, and then was released in 2017, but only on select VOD platforms. The film wouldn’t finally be available to the wider public until years later when it started streaming.

In 2022, Texas Chainsaw’s timeline was rebooted yet again. This time around, a present-day sequel takes place in a small ghost town and ignores everything except the first movie. It’s also been reported that another sequel titled Texas Chainsaw Legacy is on the way.
