There's plenty to celebrate in this charming remake of a gay classic
Few remakes feel as warranted as Andrew Ahn's new spin on Ang Lee's gay 90s classic. Much has changed in the years since The Wedding Banquet first delighted audiences with its sweet comedy of errors. Twists ensure that newbies and longtime fans alike will find plenty to feast on here, not least the cast which includes Bowen Yang, Lily Gladstone, Kelly Marie Tran and a sweet breakout role for Han Gi-chan. The real standout moment though is when two titans of Asian cinema, the legendary Joan Chen and Youn Yuh-jung, come together and Mother harder than any Mother has ever Mothered before.
