What's Love Got to Do with It? is a romantic comedy film directed by Shekhar Kapur for StudioCanal. It is written and produced by Jemima Khan. Kapur is best known for directing the Academy Award winning biographical film, Elizabeth, in 1998 along with its 2007 sequel, Elizabeth: The Golden Age. He has also directed a number of successful Bollywood titles including Mr. India and Bandit Queen. He is joined by his cinematographer on the Elizabeth films, Remi Adefarasin, handling cinematography duties for What's Love Got to Do with It?.
Lily James and Shazad Latif portray best friends, Zoe Stevenson and Kaz Khan, respectively. James is best known for her roles in such titles as Cinderella, Baby Driver and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. Latif previously worked in such TV shows as Penny Dreadful, Departure, and as Chief of Security Ash Tyler in Star Trek: Discovery.
