Lift is a heist comedy film directed by F. Gary Gray for Netflix. It is written by Daniel Kunka who previously wrote the screenplay for the 2009 action film 12 Rounds. Gray has directed a number of successful titles throughout the years including 1995's Friday (which was his feature directorial debut), Set It Off the following year, The Italian Job in 2003 along with 2015's Straight Outta Compton and The Fate of the Furious in 2017. Prior to him focusing on directing films, Gray was a prominent music video director, having collaborated with such celebrated artists as Ice Cube, Usher, Cypress Hill, Dr. Dre, OutKast, Whitney Houston and TLC, to name a few. Lead star Kevin Hart produces Lift with Brian Smiley, Matt Reeves, Adam Kassan, Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon.
Kevin Hart stars as the lead in the film. He is a popular comedic actor having starred in such titles as Ride Along, Get Hard, Central Intelligence, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and its sequel and DC League of Super-Pets. He appears alongside an impressive ensemble cast in Lift including Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Vincent D'Onofrio, Úrsula Corberó, Billy Magnussen, Jacob Batalon, Jean Reno, Sam Worthington, Paul Anderson, Viveik Kalra, Kim Yoon-ji, and Burn Gorman.
