Adam Driver and Penélope Cruz star in Michael Mann's biopic on iconic sports manufacturer
Ferrari is a sports-thriller biopic directed by Michael Mann for Neon. It is written by Troy Kennedy Martin who penned the screenplays for 1969's The Italian Job and 2004's Red Dust. The film is based on Brock Yates' biography titled "Enzo Ferrari: The Man and the Machine" which was released in 1991. Mann is an acclaimed filmmaker who has helmed a number of celebrated films including The Last of the Mohicans in 1992, 1995's Heat, 2001's Ali and Collateral in 2004. Mann also produces Ferrari alongside John Lesher, Thorsten Schumacher, Lars Sylvest, Marie Savare, Gareth West, Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi.
Adam Driver stars as the titular lead, Enzo Ferrari. He is best known for portraying Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. He has also starred in and received back-to-back Academy Award nominations for 2018's BlacKkKlansman and Marriage Story in 2019. Academy Award winner Penélope Cruz portrays Laura Ferrari. She won the accolade in 2008 for Best Supporting Actress in Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
In this impressive ensemble cast, Shailene Woodley plays Lina Lardi, Gabriel Leone is Alfonso de Portago and Sarah Gadon portrays Linda Christian. Jack O'Connell stars as Peter Collins while Patrick Dempsey is Piero Taruffi. Michele Savoia is Carlo Chiti, Erik Haugen plays Edmund Nelson and Ben Collins portrays Stirling Moss. The rest of the cast includes Andrea Dolente as Gino Rancati, Giuseppe Bonifati as Giacomo Cuoghi, Daniela Piperno as Adalgisa Ferrari and Tommaso Basili as Gianni Agnelli.
