Florence Pugh and Austin Butler join sequel to sci-fi epic directed by Denis Villeneuve
Dune: Part Two is a sci-fi epic film directed by Denis Villeneuve for Warner Bros. Pictures. It serves as a sequel to 2021’s Dune and works as the second of a two-part adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name. Previously considered to be “unfilmable”, the original adaptation of the novel was directed by David Lynch in 1984 and although it did not perform well financially or with critics, the film gained popularity as a cult classic throughout the years. The 2021 adaptation received immense critical acclaim and earned over $400 million at the worldwide box office. Villeneuve is an acclaimed director having previously directed such titles as Prisoners, Sicario, Blade Runner 2049 and Arrival. The first Dune installment was revered for its incredibly impressive cinematography helmed by Greig Fraser who returned for the sequel. Dune: Part Two is produced by Villeneuve along with Mary Parent, Cale Boyter and Joe Caracciolo Jr.
The film features a stellar cast including Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling and Academy Award winner Javier Bardem who all reprise their roles in the sequel. There are a number of new additions to the cast including Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Anya Taylor-Joy, Academy Award winner Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Souheila Yacoub, and Tim Blake Nelson.
