Hugh Jackman dons the adamantium claws once again alongside Ryan Reynolds in debut Deadpool film set within the MCU
Deadpool & Wolverine is an R-rated superhero film co-written and directed by Shawn Levy for Marvel Studios and Disney. It is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name and is a direct sequel to 2018’s Deadpool 2. Following the development of a third Deadpool film at 20th Century Fox in November 2016, its progress was halted when the company was acquired by Disney in March 2019. Subsequently, control of the character was transferred to Marvel Studios, who took charge of developing a third film with Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as the titular character. Deadpool & Wolverine merges the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) while maintaining the R-rating that characterized the previous films. It serves as the 37th film of the MCU.
Who worked behind-the-scenes of Deadpool & Wolverine?
Director Shawn Levy also co-produces Deadpool & Wolverine alongside lead Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Feige. Levy and Reynolds previously worked together on the films, Free Guy and The Adam Project. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the talented duo who penned the scripts for the previous Deadpool films, returned to work on the screenplay. They built upon a draft written by the Molyneux Sisters, adding their own expertise and creative input to the project.
Who stars in Deadpool & Wolverine?
Ryan Reynolds reprises his role as the titular Merc with a Mouth. Joining him is Hugh Jackman who returns to portray the iconic character of Wolverine after his last appearance as a cameo in Deadpool 2. Together, they confront a new adversary portrayed by Emma Corrin. Matthew Macfadyen is also part of the cast, along with returning Deadpool actors Karan Soni as Dopinder and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al. Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic return to the franchise as Vanessa and Colossus, respectively. Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna reprise their roles as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and her girlfriend, Yukio. Lewis Tan returns from Deadpool 2 as Shatterstar.
