Synopsis
In the multiverse, there are an infinite number of possibilities. What if…? Season 2, reimagines key moments from within Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and blows them wide open. Expect Captain Carter to don the shield again in a battle with Hydra; a showdown between Asgardian monarch, Odin, and the father of Shang-Chi, The Mandarian; Tony Stark, the Hulk and, Valkyrie teaming up on a far-off planet; and unique superhero action set in 1602 during the Elizabethan age. As timelines are turned on their head with unexpected crossovers and new alliances, Season 2 of What if…? brings back a host of famous and beloved Marvel characters.

Essential viewing for MCU fans and those intrigued by the multiverse
MCU fans who loved What If...? season 1 will be pleased to know the second season manages to step it up a notch. The what if scenarios are more creative and complex, the animation is even more vivid and stunning, and there are lots more MCU Easter eggs to hunt for. It is very reminiscent of some of the MCU's earlier films like Doctor Strange and Guardians in the Galaxy in that it truly gives fans something that breaks the superhero formula and feels new and exciting.

What If…? Season 2 is an animated anthology television series produced by Marvel Studios for Disney+. The series is created by A.C. Bradley and will consist of nine episodes. Season 2 is headed up by Jeffrey Wright who continues as The Watcher alongside a host of Marvel favorites including Samuel L. Jackson as the inimitable Nick Fury; Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth both as original Avengers, the Hulk and Thor; Jeremy Renner portrays Hawkeye; Paul Rudd continues as Ant-Man and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym. The time-meddling sorcerer Dr. Strange also returns voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch while Hayley Atwell dons the shield as Captain Carter. Elizabeth Olsen is the Scarlet Witch and Josh Brolin returns to voice the supervillain Thanos. What If…? Season 2 also includes the final performance of Chadwick Boseman in the MCU playing the famous Wakandan leader. Laurence Fishburne plays Bill Foster. What If…? Season 2 was released on Disney+ on December 22, 2023.
