Synopsis
Jared Grace becomes the protector of Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide to Magical Creatures
Helen Grace moves her three children into her ancestral home after a divorce. In the quirky gothic corridors of the Spiderwick Estate, Jared, the most mischievous of the three, witnesses strange creatures. When no one believes him, he begins to search for proof and comes across a field guide to magical creatures. Protecting this book from the evil ogre, Mulgarath will become his mission.

The Spiderwick Chronicles Season 1 is a fantasy mystery series produced by Lightbulb Farm Productions, The Gotham Group, Paramount Television Studios, and 20th Television for The Roku Channel. The show is based on the book, The Spiderwick Chronicles written by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi. It is the second adaptation of the book after the 2008 movie produced by Nickelodeon. The series showrunner is Aron Eli Coleite who has worked on shows such as Locke & Key, Daybreak, and Heroes. Kat Coiro, of She-Hulk fame is among the directors in the first season.
Who is starring in The Spiderwick Chronicles Season 1?
The Spiderwick Chronicles features Lyon Daniels starring in the lead role as Jared Grace. He is joined by Noah Cottrell and Mychala Lee who star as his siblings, Simon and Mallroy. Joy Bryant stars as their mother, Helen Grace. Christian Slater plays the villain of the series, the ogre Mulgarath while Momona Tamada and Alyvia Alyn Lind also star.
Is the Spiderwick Chronicles on Disney+?
No. It was originally supposed to air on Disney+ but was dropped by the streaming service due to cost cutting measures. Instead the all eight episodes of the show will premiere on the Roku Channel.
Can kids watch the Spiderwick Chronicles Season 1?
The show is based on the children's fantasy novels that are appropriate for children over the age of ten. The main villain of the show can be disturbing and scary for younger children.
