Morpheus is the Lord of Dreams and his mission leaves him little to no time to himself or his thoughts. As protector of the realm of dreams, he’s had to ward off threats, including a vortex that risked destroying sleep forever. This season, Morpheus has his work cut out for him with discord brewing among the Eternals and a revenge seeking Lucifer on the scene.
The Sandman Season 2 is the upcoming second season of a fantasy series from Netflix. The second season continues the story based on Neil Gaiman’s graphic novels, which were originally published between 1989 and 1996. While the first season of Sandman drew inspiration from Gaiman’s “Preludes and Nocturnes” and “The Doll’s House", season 2 is likely to take inspiration from “Dreamland”, “Age of Mist”, and “Across the Sea to Heaven”. In these stories, Morpheus sees himself return to the netherworld and have a run-in with William Shakespeare. The Lord of Dreams also encounters a transwoman by the name of Wanda who offers him fresh perspective.
Tom Sturridge returns as Morpheus and Gwendoline Christie is also back to play Lucifer Morningstar, the ruler of Hell. Also starring in The Sandman's second season are Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Mason Alexander, and Vivian Acheampong. These actors play Death, Desire, and Lucienne, respectively.
