The original John Wick team return to produce this prequel spin-off
The Continental Season 1 is a limited series set within the John Wick universe. Produced by Lionsgate Television, the show had originally been set to air on Starz before making its way to streaming platform Peacock. The show has undergone a raft of changes but has settled on a unique format. It consists of three 90-minute episodes. Albert Hughes, best known for his works Menace II Society and The Book of Eli, is confirmed to direct the first and third episodes. The original creative team behind the John Wick films including Keanu Reeves, Chad Stahelski, and Derek Kolstad are confirmed to be producers of the series.
The show centers around a young Winston who is set to be portrayed by Colin Woodell. Ian McShane, who played the original character in the movies will not be reprising his role as the show is a prequel to the films. Academy award winner Mel Gibson portrays Cormac, a new character in the franchise who will play opposite Woodell’s Winston. Franchise-favourite Uncle Charlie, known to clean the scene, also has a younger version, played by Peter Greene. ‘The Adjudicator’, an ominous new character will be played by Katie McGrath. The expanded cast also sees roles for Jessica Allain, Nhung Kate, Jeremy Bobb, and Ayomide Adegun. The Continental was released on September 22nd 2023 on Peacock.
