It's enjoyable both as a tribute to Charles Dickens' work and as a fine work of period drama. Like the original novel, it's filled with thrilling scandal and mischief. However, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and David Thewlis breathe new life into the characters and add another layer of emotion and humor to the tale. Synopsis
As his old life catches up with him the Artful Dodger must decide who he wants to be
A new surgeon has arrived at Port Victory, Australia. No one knows too much about Jack Dawkins, except that he’s a charming fellow looking to make a living in the colony. But when Dawkins receives a visitor from his past, his true identity as the Artful Dodger emerges. With his old boss Fagin around, the pair look set to resume their schemes. The only thing standing in their way is Jack’s new love interest. Lady Belle is a real surgeon who wants to become the first female to do the job in the colony. As he struggles with his two identities, the former pickpocket extraordinaire must decide who he wants to be - Dawkins or Dodger.

It is created by James McNamara, David Maher, and David Taylor. The Artful Dodger is produced by Beach Road Pictures, Sony Pictures Television and Curio Pictures for Hulu.
Thomas Brodie-Sangster stars in the lead role as the Artful Dodger/Jack Dawkins. Brodie-Sangster has had roles in Games of Thrones and The Queen’s Gambit. He is joined by David Thewlis who stars as the charismatic thief Fagin. Maia Mitchell plays the role of Lady Belle. Susie Porter, Damien Garvey, Damon Herriman, Jessica De Gouw, Kym Gyngell, Miranda Tapsell, Huw Higginson, Luke Carroll, and Tim Minchin also star.
