Gideon Jura is a loyal warrior-magician questing for good in the face of encroaching evil. Traveling the planes of Ravnica and Golgari, the battle-hardened hero musters his mythical might to survive the looming threats. Focusing on the plight and power of the Planeswalkers, this tale traverses worlds and brings together a host of magical and mythical subjects.
Magic: The Gathering is an upcoming animated television series based on the tabletop role-playing game of the same name. The series is produced and distributed by Netflix in association with Hasbro’s Wizards of the Coast.
The show is developed by Jeff Kline, an American film and television executive who is well-regarded in the industry. Kline has worked on a host of animated pilots in the past and has received multiple awards for his work. Steve Melching, an alumnus of the famous Star Wars: The Clone Wars creative team, is the story editor and co-executive producer. The art direction is handled by Izzy Medrano while writers Taneka Stotts, Dan Frey, Nicole Dubuc, and Russell Sommer take care of the script.
The animation of the series was first being handled by Bardel Entertainment. However during production that changed first to Snowball Studios before finally changing again to Allspark Animation.
The lead of the series is Gideon Jura voiced by Brandon Routh. Routh is best known for his portrayal of Superman in the 2006 movie Superman Returns. Lexi DiBenedetto voices Chandra Nalaar.
