A set of brilliant bakers compete to produce cakes that look so much like real objects that from a distance the celebrity judges will not know the difference. In the first round, the contestants must identify a cake from a group of everyday objects. Those that succeed enter the second round where they are tasked with producing a hyperrealistic cake creation within eight hours. A group of celebrity judges has only 20 seconds to decide if it’s real or if it’s cake.
Is It Cake, Too? is the second season of the cooking competition game show. The show is created by Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz and directed by Alex Van Wagner. Alfred Street Industries is the production company behind Is It Cake, Too? and the show is distributed by Netflix. Comedian, actor, and writer Mikey Day is the host of Is It Cake, Too?
The contestant on the second season of the game show include:
Corterrius Allen, a baker who is known as DaCakeGoat of Mississippi. Danya Smith, a baker who loves 90s nostalgia and studied sculpture in school. Elizabeth Rowe who runs the luxury store The London Baker and is originally from England. Jarid Altmark is the founder of Jarid’s Awesome Cakes and has been entering cake competitions since he was 14 years old. Cake It with Justin-founder, Justin Salinas has loved baking since he was diagnosed with kidney failure at 15 and baking became his escape. Kayla Giddings has judged cake competitions across the country and loves to decorate her cakes to look like savory foods. Liz Marek is known as the creator of the Sugar Geek Show, a cake-decorating school that runs online. Miko Kaw Hok Uy is an artist inspired by his Filipino background who brings a sculptural approach. Twice winner of Cake Wars Pete Tidwell, otherwise known as The Mighty Baker joins the show. The last contestant is Spirit Wallace a baker known for making extravagant creations for celebrities.
The guest judges for the season include Ally Love, Anna Camp, Blake Anderson, Cristela Alonzo, Brandon Kyle Goodman, Charli D’Amelio, Chiney Ogwumike, Jeff Dye, Joel Kim Booster, Joel McHale, Kate Flannery, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Maz Jobrani, Chloe Fineman, Chris Redd, Chris Witaske, Chrishell Stause, Dixie D’Amelio, Flula Borg, Heidi D’Amelio, Jade Catta-Preta, Melissa Villaseñor, Nico Santos and Taylor Tomlinson. Is It Cake, Too? was released on Netflix on June 30th, 2023.
