The Belmont family have long been fierce vampire hunters, attempting to rid the world of the elusive Dracula. Now it’s time for Richter Belmont to continue his family’s tradition, and save the love of his life at the same time. It won’t be an easy feat – Dracula has been resurrected once more, and the height of the French Revolution proves to be a difficult terrain to navigate for the hero in this new animated series. Castlevania: Nocturne Season 1 is an animated fantasy series produced by Netflix. The series is a spinoff of a Japanese video game, originally known as Akumajo Dracula. It was in 1986 that the game was first released on Nintendo, and has since expanded to include many games, books, and TV series.
Castlevania: Nocturne is based on the plot of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, a game where Richter Belmont is the main character. The Belmonts are the protagonists of the games and their main task is to hunt vampires. In fact, there is one vampire they seek above all: Dracula. Ridding the world of the infamous vampire hasn’t been easy, as the monster finds a way to come back to life again and again. Richter steps up to the plate in this spinoff set in 1792 during the French Revolution. Castlevania: Nocturne Season 1 was released on Netflix on September 28, 2023.
