The Regime is a political satire miniseries produced by HBO Entertainment. The miniseries is created and written by Will Tracy, who co-wrote 2022’s devastating horror-comedy The Menu in addition to HBO’s hit series Succession and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. The Crown director Jessica Hobbs and Stephen Frears direct the series’ six episodes.
The Regime stars Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet, playing the authoritarian chancellor of a fictional European country in the midst of political upheaval. Guillaume Gallienne plays her husband, and Andrea Riseborough joins as her chief advisor. Hugh Grant plays the polemic Leader of the Opposition, and Martha Plimpton plays the US Secretary of State. Other cast members include Matthias Schoenaerts, Danny Webb, David Bamber, Henry Goodman, Stanley Townsend, Louie Mynett, Rory Keenan, Karl Markovics, and Pippa Haywood.
