Kate Winslet stars in Succession and The Menu writer Will Tracy’s political satire for HBO
The Regime Season 1 is the first and only season of the political satire produced by HBO Entertainment. Will Tracy, who is known for writing 2022’s horror-comedy The Menu, episodes of HBO’s Succession, and for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, both writes and creates the series. Jessica Hobbs, who directed episodes of The Crown, directs the 6-episode season alongside Stephen Frears.
Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet stars in The Regime as the autocratic chancellor of a fictional European country. Guillaume Gallienne plays the chancellor’s forlorn husband, and Andrea Riseborough plays her right-hand-woman and the palace manager. Hugh Grant joins them as the Leader of the Opposition, while Martha Plimpton portrays the US Secretary of State. Other members of The Regime’s cast include Matthias Schoenaerts, Rory Keenan, Danny Webb, Louie Mynett, Pippa Haywood, David Bamber, Henry Goodman, Stanley Townsend, and Karl Markovics.
