Synopsis
Season 1 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power marks the first time the Second Age has ever been adapted on the small screen. The TV series takes place thousands of years before Frodo and his disbanded fellowship collectively defeat Sauron. In the show’s first season, an evil presence unexpectedly emerges in Middle Earth.Based on the fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien, the series was developed by J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay. In Tolkien’s works, the Second Age marks the settlement of men with Elvish heritage on the island of Númenor. It is also known as the time in which the fallen Maia known as Sauron escapes the Outer Void.
